WAWA SUMMER FUN DAYS BACK

8 Days of Complimentary Admission

Special to T&T Magazine

Wawa and Bok Tower Gardens are teaming up again to offer Wawa Summer Fun Days featuring complimentary admission on the last Thursday and Friday of May through August.

The 2024 Wawa Summer fun days will be May 30-31, June 27-28, July 25-26, and August 29-30.

Pre-registration is requested for this complimentary offer. Visitors can register at https://boktowergardens.org/wawa-summer-fun-days-2024/.

The partnership began in 2021 with the launch of Wawa Summer Fun Days, and

the offer was expanded in 2022. Since the program began, nearly 50,000 participants have received complimentary admission.

Committed to the communities they serve, Wawa is keeping Bok Tower Gardens growing with their generous support.

ABOUT WAWA, INC.:

Wawa, Inc., a privately held company, began in 1803 as an iron foundry in New Jersey. Toward the end of the 19th Century, owner George Wood took an interest in dairy farming and the family began a small processing plant in Wawa, PA in 1902. The milk business was a huge success, due to its quality, cleanliness and “certified” pro-

cess. As home delivery of milk declined in the early 1960s, Grahame Wood, George’s grandson, opened the first Wawa Food Market in 1964 in Pennsylvania as an outlet for dairy products. Today, Wawa is your all day, every day stop for freshly prepared foods, beverages, coffee, fuel services and surcharge-free ATMs. Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C. with nearly 1,000 locations to date. The stores offer a large fresh foodservice selection, including Wawa brands such as custom prepared hoagies, freshly-brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, hand-crafted specialty beverages, a

Ranks Wawa as #20 of America’s Largest Private Companies, #1 in Convenience Category for America’s Best Customer Service by Newsweek, one of Forbes 2023 America’s Best Employers for Women and New College Grads.

The Polk Museum of Art is excited to announce its 52nd annual Mayfaire by-the-Lake Art Festival, presented by Citizens Bank & Trust and The Ruthvens and to be held along the shores of Lake Morton May 11 and 12, 2024, from 9 am to 4 pm. Showcasing over 150 artists from nine states working in a variety of media, from painting and sculpture to woodworking, hand-crafted jewelry, and more, this free two-day fine art festival promises to offer something for every art enthusiast, collector, and visitor to enjoy. The festival is excited

to welcome 39 new exhibiting artists to this year’s festivities.

In addition to the artists’ booths, this year’s celebration will include fun activities for kids of all ages at the Mayfaire Kids Zone, sponsored by Publix Super Market Charities. “Kids Collect,” a kids-only tent where children can purchase artwork donated by Mayfaire artists at nominal prices, returns for a third year to the Mayfaire Kids Zone to engage even the youngest of art connoisseurs. Free hands-on art activities for children of all abilities will also be available at each Kids Zone tent.

“For 52 years now, Mayfaire and Mother’s Day weekend have become synonymous for festival attendees of all ages from all over the region, looking for great art, great food, and great diversion,” said Dr. Alex Rich, executive director and chief curator of the Polk Museum of Art. “This year, we are thrilled to welcome so many new and returning artists to Lakeland to showcase their work for ever-expanding generations of art lovers.”

Artwork will be available to purchase throughout the show, along with concessions from Kebablicious, 1 Up Burger, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, Heavenly Pretzel, and more. Meanwhile, just beyond the Lake at the Museum, visitors will be able to revel in nostalgia with the blockbuster “Rockwell/Wyeth: Icons of Americana” exhibition on display in the main first floor galleries, highlighting two of the greatest artists and illustrators of the twentieth century.

The addition will include six new galleries and multi-functional classroom and event spaces, with anticipated completion in Fall 2024. The Museum is open Tuesdays–Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm and on Sundays 1 pm to 5 pm. The Museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays. I Pity The Fool

“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” - Psa. 14:1

I have this friend on Facebook (not naming names) who shares posts from atheist groups and pages. Let’s just say these posts— aside from making me want to bang my head against the wall!—make me seriously question our education system and worry about our country’s dwindling church attendance.

One post was a quote from Stephen Hawking: “I believe the simplest explanation is, there is no God. No one created the universe, and no one directs our fate. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that, I am extremely grateful.”

Now, far be it for me to criticize Hawking. Dude was a remarkable physicist. But you’d think he’d be smart enough to recognize the irony of arguing “no one created the universe” while also claiming it has a “grand design.” Last time I checked, design implies a designer.

wicked and loving enough to spare the innocent. Because God is love!

Another meme pictured a baby with this rather condescending caption: “There is no God in this newborn brain. It’s an atheist...until it is infected with lies.” Yes, some folks are dumb enough to believe God doesn’t exist because...all babies are atheists, apparently.

Funny! I never heard a baby say, “God doesn’t exist.” Or even that, “Jesus Christ is Lord.” That’s because babies are born not knowing anything until we teach them. You know, like how we teach them to read, write, and count. No baby is born literate, but I don’t see atheists arguing against teaching children how to read. (Perhaps it’s best they don’t. They might read the Bible and start getting ideas!)

So, how did we get here? (Aside from our broken school system and low church attendance?) Why are some folks so cocksure of God’s supposed non-existence that they think “all babies are atheists” is a good argument?

1. GEOGRAPHY: Which Russian city used to be called Leningrad?

2. SCIENCE: What is the coldest city in the northern hemisphere?

3. LANGUAGE: What does the Latin phrase “persona non grata” mean?

4. U.S. STATES: Which state’s flag is the only one currently that is two-sided?

5. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: What was the first animal to appear on a U.S. coin?

6. FOOD & DRINK: How many herbs and spices are in the original recipe of Kentucky Fried Chicken?

7. MOVIES: How many movies did Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire make together?

8. LITERARY: In the Harry Potter book series, what are N.E.W.T.s?

9. TELEVISION: How many children were in “The Addams Family” sitcom?

10. HISTORY: In what year was the first email sent?

After all, everything that begins to exist has a cause. The universe began to exist. (Hawking, being an astrophysicist, should know about the Big Bang!) Therefore, the universe has a cause. As Psalms 19:1 states: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of His hands.” It’s hard to look at the “grand design” of the universe and not conclude it was made by a grand designer—namely God.

Another post sarcastically read: “Must’ve been awe-inspiring to stand on the ark’s deck...some prehistoric coffee in hand and gaze down at all the bloated, floating corpses...and think...ahhhh god is love.”

Why, yes! God was, indeed, loving enough that when He saw a wicked world where everyone was “only evil continually,” rather than wipe out all of humanity, chose to save the lives of one man and his family because he was a “just man.” God was just enough to punish the

It’s important to realize this isn’t an external claim. People don’t plaster dumb memes like this all over their Facebook feeds because they think it’ll convince believers to stop believing in God. That’s not the point. It’s an internal claim. They’re repeatedly talking to themselves, because they want to disbelieve God’s existence.

Romans states how the “invisible things” of God are “clearly seen” in Creation and point to the existence of its Creator so that people are “without excuse.” The only way for them to deny this plain fact is to deceive themselves into believing otherwise, making their “foolish hearts darkened” to where, “professing themselves to be wise, they become fools.”

Seems like fools really love Facebook!
