This program is more rigorous compared to others and it involves a heavy amount of listening, repeating, and practicing conversations with pre-recorded clips. Rosetta Stone is another expert language learning platform that involves different learning methodologies, like practicing vocabulary and listening to audio from native speakers to help you correct your pronunciation and accent from the beginning. Rosetta Stone is less expensive than Pimsleur, it offers about half as many languages, and has less of a focus on conversation. Italki is an online platform for language classes where you work directly with a tutor or teacher who offers independent classes. They set their own schedule, price, have unique qualifications and experiences, LIVE SUSTAINABLY and come from all over the world. There are plenty of other language learning websites page 6 too, such as Babbel, Duolingo, Idlewild, and Dialup. All of these apps and websites offer the possibility of participating in language exchanges, conversation practice, and learning new vocabulary. There are many money-management and personal finance courses offered online as well, which can benefit you and your bank account. Udemy offers The Core Four of Personal Finance, which focuses on managing your debt, reducing your expenses, financing a home, retiring, and everything in between. Also

These courses allow you to discover, complete, and track classes related to your field and interests, and you can add these courses to your LinkedIn profile once you’ve completed them. LIVING SUSTAINABLY Small Changes That Create Huge Benefits
Sustainable living involves reducing the amount of Earth’s resources that you use to protect it. Think eating less meat, saving energy, and growing your own produce. Currently, we are producing resources, using energy, and creating waste at a rate that isn’t sustainable, and continuing this lifestyle causes more pollution issues and climate change. So, now is the time to rethink your everyday tasks to live greener and reduce your carbon footprint. These changes will have lasting effects – and your great-grandkids will love you for it.

USE RENEWABLE ENERGY.
GO PLASTIC FREE.
Renewable energy reduces the amount of carbon emissions that you produce because it is power that is generated from natural sources, such as the sun, wind, biomass, and water. You can replace your petrol or dieselfilled car with an electric one and you can power your home through solar panels. These panels take in the sun’s rays and convert it into electricity to heat your house and power your devices.
Have you ever heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? This trash vortex is a collection of marine debris and microplastics in the North Pacific Ocean. Since the plastic patch is so far from any country’s coastline, no nation will provide the funding to clean it. However, you can prevent the patch from growing by bringing your own totes when shopping; ditching single-use items like bags and straws; and opting for paper packaging when you can. The net result is less landfill, reduced emissions, and fewer seabirds and animals entrapped by it. Plastic might be here to stay, but we can all help reduce its presence and impact.
EAT LESS MEAT. The production of meat is one of the biggest contributors of climate change and the pollution of landscapes and waterways. Raising animals for consumption creates more greenhouse gasses than cars and trucks do, so reducing livestock production greatly reduces these emissions. Think about going vegetarian – or simply cutting back on meat – the world will thank you as you help lessen the impact that the meat industry has on Earth.
GROW YOUR OWN FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. By supplying your own produce, you can ensure that you’re not using pesticides that will contribute to air and water pollution. A vegetable garden also helps reduce the fossil fuels of transporting produce to supermarkets and it minimizes waste from food-packaging materials, such as man-made plastics and cardboard that travel hundreds and thousands of miles. For easy-to-grow vegetables, try tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and carrots.
PICK ANOTHER MODE OF TRANSPORTATION. On the road, vehicles emit volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide, and oxides of nitrogen, which all contribute to air pollution and smog. Think about changing your transportation habits to walking, biking, carpooling, or public transportation. And don’t forget about tune-ups and tire inflations. Tune-ups increase your fuel efficiency from 4 percent to 40 percent – if every American kept his or her tires inflated, gas-usage would reduce by 2 percent nationwide.
SHOP CAREFULLY. Pay attention to labels and buy the brands that have a minimal impact on the environment. Choose Fair Trade certified goods whenever possible to support companies dedicated to sustainable production and paying laborers a fair wage. Try to buy organic food whenever possible. Although costly, these foods keep harmful pesticides out of our land and water, protecting farm workers, wildlife, and your family. And when buying anything, consider purchasing it “used,” instead of “new.” Every product has an environmental impact, from the materials used to make it, to the pollution emitted during the manufacturing, to the packaging that ends up in the landfills. Before you buy, think if you really need it or not.
LOVE YOUR LEFTOVERS. If you have leftovers, don’t throw them away. When we waste food, we also waste all the energy it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package it. And if the food goes to landfills and rots, it produces methane. If we minimize food wasting, about 6-8% of all human-caused greenhouse gasses could be reduced. Try to reuse food that is going bad, save your leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day, or freeze them. Cut that loaf of stale bread into tiny pieces for the birds or freeze them for croutons. Aquafaba (chickpea water) can be made into a vegan mayonnaise, squash seeds can be fried in oil and sprinkled with salt for a snack, and courgette stalks can be cut into penne shapes and cooked like pasta. If the food is truly no longer usable and it must go off, create compost for your garden.
UNSUBSCRIBE AND UNFOLLOW. Fast fashion are the clothing designs that move quickly from the catwalk to stores to take advantage of trends. It plays a key role in overproduction and consumption and has a detrimental impact on the environment and on our health. The widespread use of polyester emits up to 3 times carbon dioxide than other fibers and it can also take hundreds of years to degrade. What’s more, just one pair of jeans takes 7,000 liters of water to produce, and a single shirt uses up to 2,700 liters of water. Hazardous chemicals, such as azo dyes, NPEs, and toxic perfluorinated substances are used to produce this clothing, which are carcinogenic to animals and humans. If someone wants to quit fast fashion, it is recommended to unsubscribe from all emails. A brand that is constantly introducing new products and is pressuring consumers to buy buy buy is not sustainable. The same goes for influencers and brands on social media platforms, such as Instagram. Essentially, living sustainably means trying to have as little as an impact on Earth as possible. The tips above can help you replace the resources that you do use so you can meet your needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. There are endless ways to have a more sustainable lifestyle and it involves every single one of us to participate. Most importantly, be conscious about the choices you make as every single action has an impact on our world. Article written by Michelle Manganiello. TRASH BIN NOTICE he trash bins at Polo Outdoors are provided as a courtesy. They were put in place so residents have a place to put trash from gatherings at Polo Outdoors.
We have been seeing an increase in household trash being dumped in the trash bins. The trash bins are not in place for residents to dump their personal trash from the week. Please be respectful of your community and do not take advantage of our amenities at Polo Outdoors.
REFUSE AND STORAGE AREAS Garbage and refuse must be placed in containers and shall be capped and maintained so that they are inaccessible by animals. The containers shall be concealed within buildings, concealed by a screening wall of material similar to and compatible with that of the home or concealed by landscaping to provide a permanent screen from view of the street, adjacent property and golf course. Garbage containers may be placed on street the night before scheduled pick-up by collection service.

It is with sincere pleasure we would like to welcome the new duly elected 2022 board of directors of the PSMGA. Walt Kneuer, Bill Gregory, Bobby Wesley and Paul Lipari. These new members will be serving along with Peter Joyce, David Johnson and Robbie Castleberry. The board’s primary function is to provide leadership for the PSMGA in various golf tournaments and social activities, along with coordinating with the North Atlanta Senior Men's Golf Association for 8 match play tournaments at various member golf clubs in 2022. Golf Reminders BE SAFE! FRIENDLY REMINDERS FROM POLO HOA Please remember that when walking or jogging through the neighborhood you should be facing (walking into) traffic. This allows you to see oncoming vehicles and allows you to get your pets out of the way as well. If you are on a bicycle (or moving vehicle) you should be going in the same direction as the traffic.
GOLF CARTS General Federal Law for Golf Carts: Under current NHTSA interpretations and regulations, so long as golf cars and other similar vehicles are incapable of exceeding 20 miles per hour, they are subject to only state and local requirements regarding safety equipment. However, if these vehicles are originally manufactured so that they can go faster than 20 miles per hour, they are treated as motor vehicles under Federal law. The standard requires low-speed vehicles to be equipped with headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, tail lamps, reflex reflectors, parking brakes, rearview mirrors, windshields, seat belts, and vehicle identification numbers.
GEORGIA GOLF CART & LOW SPEED VEHICLE LAWS Guidelines for Golf Carts and PTVs (Personal Transportation Vehicles) 16

Only those who have a valid driver’s license are allowed to drive a golf cart ALONE. If, however, the driver is at least 12 years of age and accompanied by a licensed adult age 18 or older, they may operate the golf cart. EXCEPTION: If the driver is 15 and holds a permit, he/she may operate the golf cart alone. Golf carts may only operate on streets with posted speed limits of 35 MPH and under. This does not prohibit golf carts or lowspeed motor vehicles from crossing any road or street at properly marked crossings.
REQUIRED GOLF CART EQUIPMENT All golf carts must have braking systems, a reverse warning device, tail lamps, a horn and hip restraints and must weigh less than 1,300 lbs and not top speeds of 20mph. Golf carts that are operated between sunrise and sunset must be equipped with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield. Golf carts that do not meet these additional standards shall only be operated during the hours between sunrise and sunset.
ADDITIONAL GOLF CART RELATED INFORMATION Golf carts may be operated on sidewalks only if the driver yields the right-ofway to all pedestrians, bicycle riders or others not using a golf cart.

o matter where you are in life, boosting credentials on your CV is always a positive move. Are you now an “empty nester” with more free time? Or a college student looking for something to do one summer? Wanting to gain more credentials in the field you work in? Or, if you just want to know more, consider taking a professional development course online. There are countless options appropriate for everyone, and by taking one, you’ll be learning useful material, adding something to your resume, and increasing your potential for your future education and career. Excel is a data analysis tool offered by Microsoft that handles complex tasks, from comparing data to offering it in a variety of modes. Mastering the program can be an invaluable skill whether you are launching a new business, trying to improve an existing business, or looking for a new career option. There are plenty of Excel classes offered online that are tailored to allow you to learn at your own pace. Udemy offers a variety of Excel classes: Microsoft Excel 101 is appropriate for beginners, Microsoft 102 provides intermediate training, and Microsoft 103 covers advanced training. Macquarie University’s Excel Skills for Business Specialization is available through Coursera, and it includes four courses: Essentials, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, and Advanced. Topics include Macros, Pivot tables, data forecasts, and building dashboards – everything your business needs to help it thrive. You’ll have to commit to six weeks of learning at a pace of about two to four hours a week for each course, so this one is a serious time commitment. Rice University also offers an Excel class as part of their Business Statistics and Analysis Specialization program. Their course is considered an introduction as they say it is for “those who have very little functional knowledge of Excel.” So, if you just want some fundamental knowledge and familiarity with Excel, then this class is perfect for you. Other online platforms that offer Excel classes include GoSkills’ Microsoft Excel Classes (Basic and Advanced), Ben Currier’s Excel Exposure, and Chandoo.org VBA Classes. If you prefer linguistics over graphs, consider studying a language. Mastering a language can be practical if you’re moving to another country, and it can also just be quite fun. Whatever your motivation may be for language learning, it’s a useful and fulfilling way to fill your time and there are plenty of ways to start 18

on the web. A well-known resource for language learning is Pimsleur. This program is more rigorous compared to others and it involves a heavy amount of listening, repeating, and practicing conversations with pre-recorded clips. Rosetta Stone is another expert language learning platform that involves different learning methodologies, like practicing vocabulary and listening to audio from native speakers to help you correct your pronunciation and accent from the beginning. Rosetta Stone is less expensive than Pimsleur, it offers about half as many languages, and has less of a focus on conversation. Italki is an online platform for language classes where you work directly with a tutor or teacher who offers independent classes. They set their own schedule, price, have unique qualifications and experiences, and come from all over the world. There are plenty of other language learning websites too, such as Babbel, Duolingo, Idlewild, and Dialup. All of these apps and websites offer the possibility of participating in language exchanges, conversation practice, and learning new vocabulary. There are many money-management and personal finance courses offered online as well, which can benefit you and your bank account. Udemy offers The Core Four of Personal Finance, which focuses on managing your debt, reducing your expenses, financing a home, retiring, and everything in between. Also offered by Udemy is Personal Finance 101 – a beginner course that’ll explain everything to you from credit to taxes to various issues such as going to college, buying a house, or getting married. If you want a longer course, check out Coursera’s 9-week Personal and Family Financial Planning. Created by the University of Florida, this course covers the basics as well as investing, managing risk, and building your own finance plan. Khan Academy also does well when it comes to money management classes. They offer a 10 lecture-class on Personal Taxes, so you can have a guide on how to calculate your take-home pay and how to do your government taxes. Khan Academy’s course called Housing is a 19 lecture-class covering mortgages, insurance, and real estate. And they offer a 26-lecture class called Investment Vehicles, Insurance, and Retirement. If you still want more resources, check out personal finance courses offered by edX and ALISON. Not sure about a specific class to take and want to discover more? LinkedIn Learning is available as an online educational platform
that helps you discover business, technologyrelated, and creative skills through many expert-led course videos. These courses allow you to discover, complete, and track classes related to your field and interests, and you can add these courses to your LinkedIn profile once you’ve completed them. Class offerings range from ethics courses, such as Critical Thinking for Effective Communication, to technical courses, like Using Green Screen to Make Great Videos. FutureLearn is another platform that offers a variety of professional online courses and degrees from top universities. Course topics vary; you could take a class centered on psychology, crime and punishment, writing, or software development basics. On Skillshare you will find business and technology courses, but some of their most unique courses fall under the Creative category. Opt in for a class on DSLR photography, creative writing, or art journaling for self-care. Intrigued? Got the time and interest? Look further into online development. It’s easy, convenient, and you’ll also be learning about something you care about. Even though some classes are more costly and require more time than others do, they all have one end-goal: increase your knowledge base to make you ready for that next step, whether that be a job, university, or simply, daily life.
