TRASH BIN NOTICE he trash bins at Polo Outdoors are provided as a courtesy. They were put in place so residents have a place to put trash from gatherings at Polo Outdoors.

We have been seeing an increase in household trash being dumped in the trash bins. The trash bins are not in place for residents to dump their personal trash from the week. Please be respectful of your community and do not take advantage of our amenities at Polo Outdoors.

REFUSE AND STORAGE AREAS Garbage and refuse must be placed in containers and shall be capped and maintained so that they are inaccessible by animals. The containers shall be concealed within buildings, concealed by a screening wall of material similar to and compatible with that of the home or concealed by landscaping to provide a permanent screen from view of the street, adjacent property and golf course. Garbage containers may be placed on street the night before scheduled pick-up by collection service.

Honey: Nature’s Treasure

oney is one of the oldest sweeteners known to man. Appearing in ancient texts as old as Egyptian Hieroglyphs and as early as 5500 BCE. Honey is even alluded to in the cuneiform writings of Sumeria and Babylon and the Veda of India. Honey has even been used as far back as the original domestication of animals. No one can dispute honey’s long-reigning legacy as one of humanity’s favorite sweeteners for thousands of years. Traditions to this day still use honey in their religions and many more people use honey as the slightly healthier alternative to sugar. There are even many benefits of including local honey in one’s diet. Over the millennia many cultures have used honey as a symbol in their ceremonies. One such example is the use of honey by the Jewish people during their new year. They will take apples, which represent the coming year, and dip them in honey to represent the hope for a new year full of sweetness. Hinduism also uses honey in a religious context. It is one of the five foods used in Hindu worship including milk, yoghurt, ghee, sugar, and honey. Honey in particular is used in the Hindu ritual, Madhu abhisheka, where the practitioners pour honey over the deities’ statues within the Hindu temples. Honey has also been listed as a medicinal food in many ancient texts. According to early Chinese Medicinal texts, honey has a balanced yin and yang and can be used to clear indigestion. During modern times, people still use honey for its medicinal purposes. One such purpose is to combat pollen allergies. By ingesting local honey, such as Tupelo honey, which you can buy from your local farmers market, you can help reduce the symptoms of pollen caused by Spring fauna. There are many ways in which you can eat your honey. One way is by mixing it into tea. It is found that when honey is mixed into tea it gives the tea a smoother texture, which helps greatly when you have a sore throat. Another way you can use honey is in baking to replace cane sugar. When you bake with honey, it tends to give your baked goods a more earthy flavor. A fun way to give your kids honey is in the form of a stick or hard candy. Many local honey providers will sell their honey in this form. Hard candy honey is a great choice for children who tend to be messy eaters, as it is a way to keep the kids from getting too sticky. The sticks however can also be a good choice for kids, since they tend to come in a variety of flavors. To conclude honey has a rich history full of cultural relevance and traditions. Eating honey will help with the symptoms of allergies by introducing some of the allergens into the body in a safe way. Honey is naturally high in sugar content, so it makes a great replacement for cane sugar. Honey is a great food for springtime! GOLF CARTS General Federal Law for Golf Carts: Under current NHTSA interpretations and regulations, so long as golf cars and other similar vehicles are incapable of exceeding 20 miles per hour, they are subject to only state and local requirements regarding safety equipment. However, if these vehicles are originally manufactured so that they can go faster than 20 miles per hour, they are treated as motor vehicles under Federal law. The standard requires low-speed vehicles to be equipped with headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, tail lamps, reflex reflectors, parking brakes, rearview mirrors, windshields, seat belts, and vehicle identification numbers.

Only those who have a valid driver’s license are allowed to drive a golf cart ALONE. If, however, the driver is at least 12 years of age and accompanied by a licensed adult age 18 or older, they may operate the golf cart. EXCEPTION: If the driver is 15 and holds a permit, he/she may operate the golf cart alone. Golf carts may only operate on streets with posted speed limits of 35 MPH and under. This does not prohibit golf carts or lowspeed motor vehicles from crossing any road or street at properly marked crossings.

REQUIRED GOLF CART EQUIPMENT All golf carts must have braking systems, a reverse warning device, tail lamps, a horn and hip restraints and must weigh less than 1,300 lbs and not top speeds of 20mph. Golf carts that are operated between sunrise and sunset must be equipped with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield. Golf carts that do not meet these additional standards shall only be operated during the hours between sunrise and sunset.

ADDITIONAL GOLF CART RELATED INFORMATION Golf carts may be operated on sidewalks only if the driver yields the right-ofway to all pedestrians, bicycle riders or others not using a golf cart.

For everyone's safety, NO unauthorized use is allowed including walking, jogging, fishing, pets, bikes, skateboards and personal golf carts.
