Over the month of March the country is being encouraged to sign-up to Ronald McDonald House Charities’ House to House Appeal to fundraise for support and accommodation for families with hospitalised children. The Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room programmes take care of the practical things in life, so families can focus on supporting their child.

Each year we o er over 3,500 families across New Zealand accommodation and support free of charge. This helps to relieve stresses like paying for a place to sleep near the hospital, organising family meals and needing a friendly ear to listen on tough days.

Come and join Wānaka Toastmasters for a free open evening. Everyone is welcome and it’s a great opportunity to nd out what Toastmasters is all about. For nearly 100 years, Toastmasters International has helped millions of people around the world to become more e ective and con dent speakers. Public speaking is all around us and required in so many situations, such as in social gatherings, work meetings and presentations, just to name a few.

The aim of RMHC NZ’s House to House appeal is to encourage Kiwis to participate by running, walking, cycling or even swimming 210km over the month of March, raising $1 per kilometre, to experience the average distance families travel to stay at a Ronald McDonald House when their child is undergoing treatment in hospital.

For this year’s House to House Appeal, RMHC NZ has partnered with Ray White. Both parties share a rm belief that home is where family comes together and precious moments happen. Free Workshops O er Proven Strategies for Hosting Sustainable Events

As part of our e ort as a community to lead the way in creating a thriving future, QLDC along with EAS, Wastebusters and Wao, are running a free half day workshop for event organisers.

The “How to Run a Sustainable Event” workshops aim to provide event organisers with valuable insights into making their events (big and small) more sustainable. The workshops are free and will be held in Queenstown and Wanaka on 13 and 14 March.

The primary goal of these workshops is to address the challenges of waste and emissions in event planning. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the eld and engage in collaborative brainstorming sessions to devise innovative solutions. The workshops will also provide practical steps that event organisers can take to reduce the environmental impact of their events. Attendees are encouraged to bring their teams, ideas, questions, and challenges to the workshops. Morning tea will be provided, creating a conducive environment for learning, discussion, and networking. Overall, these workshops o er a unique opportunity for event organisers to gain valuable knowledge, share experiences, and work towards creating more sustainable events. The collaboration between QLDC, Wastebusters, and EAS underscores the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges, and the workshops are a step in the right direction towards building a more sustainable future for event planning.
