Arts and Local Groups Arts Community Arts Development of Dickson County was created in 2003 to preserve and nurture the area’s artistic identity and nurture it through programs promoting the arts. CAD’s objectives include making the arts visible, providing opportunities to new and experienced artists, acting as a resource for information on the arts for the public and educating people about the effect of the arts on people and communities. The current CAD president is Sommer Pearson. The non-profit group strives to serve as an administrative board with goals to: •Find grants and funding for the arts; •Create programs that connect artists with community needs; •Provide artists with a venue for exposure;

•Provide information for people with questions about the arts; •Promote the arts and their role in the community, and; •Provide scholarships and other educational opportunities for students interested in the arts. Working toward these goals, CAD has also organized themed “celebrity” art auctions, coordinated public art projects, awarded scholarships and presented grants for arts programs at Dickson County elementary schools.
