HISTORY Goodlark Hospital, the medical facility from which Horizon Medical Center evolved, opened with 58 beds in 1958 and was privately owned by doctors L.C., William and J.T. Jackson. Following the addition of 26 beds, the facility expanded by adding 59 beds in 1967, 55 beds in 1974, physician offices in 1975 and 32 beds in 1981. Purchased by Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. and renamed Horizon Medical Center in 1995, the facility continues to serve residents of Dickson, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys and Williamson counties. SERVICES Horizon has affiliated board-certified physicians who represent nearly two-dozen medical specialties, ranging from cardiology to pediatrics. The 157-bed acute medical/surgical facility combines the atmosphere of a community-based hospital with medical technology and state-of-the-art services. DIABETES EDUCATION CENTER The center offers self-management classes for all individuals with diabetes by referral from their physician.
