second biggest  Every million dollars spent in infrastructure by the university each year is an extra in $60

added to tuition  Wants to run by the Cornell operation – R5, reuse, reduce, rethink, respect, recycle  Use less energy in the first place  Gas burning could be combined with biofuels o

Enough steam leftover from process to drive turbine for water chiller

 Last semester during the energy crisis where OU was asked to power down, the

university went from 22 Megawatts to16 Megawatts in 45 minutes o

With diesel running for extra

 Tax credits for renewables could create jobs in Appalachia  The less we use, the less we pay 

“If we don’t start now making progress, we won’t get there.”

 In June, there will be a board presentation about the future of energy at Ohio University  Objectives same, but we may change how to get there o

There is a short term, intermediate, long term plan

 New buildings will be submetered to gauge energy use o

Retrofitting will occur in older buildings

 Would like to see energy consumption go down or stay flat even as we expand  Base load(what you have to have)

 SOUL could work into looking at alternative sources and energy saving ideas
