We did it…. again! If you know the Summit Hut, you know that we have been updating, moving and improving all the while working hard to make sure that we continue to provide the quality service and product that you have come to expect from us. Well, we made a big change in November of 2015, and we mean big. Over 23,000 square feet of big! After nearly 25 years at our location on Speedway, we found an amazing space just East at 5251 E Speedway Blvd (the old Office Depot). This store is 40% BIGGER! When you walk into our Speedway store you will be amazed. We took the same great look and feel from our new store in Oro Valley and super-sized it. Tall ceilings, open space and plenty of room for our amazing brands to strut their stuff. We have concept shops from our best brands like LOWA, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, prAna, Black Diamond, Kühl and more. We wanted to provide more than product. We wanted to provide an experience that inspires and is comfortable for everyone from young to old that allows them to call this “home”. We now have a community room where local groups can reserve the room to have meetings and classes and we can also have a better environment for our events. We encourage you to stop by and see us, say hello and be inspired; we certainly are! If that endeavor wasn’t enough, we continued to have events, raise money for local organizations, Dana & Jeremy Davis opening the and we even became one of the main sponsors of new Speedway location the Arizona Trail Association Trail Race Series that continues to grow in popularity. The Summit Hut was once again voted Best Outdoor Store AND Sporting Goods store in Tucson by the community and we are honored and humbled by this continued distinction. We feel very fortunate for what 2015 has brought and look forward to all of the great things in store for you and the Summit Hut in 2016. Happy Holidays! Arizona Climbing Association of Southern The Climbing Association of Southern Arizona (CASA) is a 501(c)(3) taxexempt nonprofit organization that advocates for local climbers through stewardship, eduCASA volunteers prior to the Windy Point Adopt a Crag cation and partnership with land managers. We have enjoyed a remarkable first year during which we have hosted multiple stewardship events on Mt. Lemmon involving erosion control, graffiti removal, spur trail closures and litter removal. We have made considerable progress in our climbing anchor replacement initiative for updating climbing hardware on Mt. Lemmon and we are proud to announce that we are the official stewards for Windy Point, Mt. Lemmon. None of this would have been possible without the generous financial donations from Tucson businesses and individuals, multiple national level grants and the Summit Hut Banff Grant. Last year we contributed nearly $5,000 to some amazing organizations including our two Grand Prize
Winners – Climbing Association of Southern Arizona and Tucson Offroad Cyclists & Activists. ists Tucson Offroad Cyclists & Activ The Tucson Off-Road Cyclists and Activists (TORCA) is a group of highly motivated individuals dedicated to the maintenance and preservation of Tucson’s extensive trail network. Since inception, they have a logged close to 2000 volunteer trail hours. Their efforts are focused around tread repair, opening

40 fallen trees. In addition to a monthly trail work day, TORCA holds a monthly group ride as they also believe in building a sense of community amongst Tucson’s mountain bikers. TORCA just completed their third Annual Mountain Bike Pachanga, a three day community event where mountain bikers camp, ride and demo new bikes from 7 different Mountain Bike manufacturers. They are also actively working on

sight lines, removal of downed trees, brushing and erosion control. While a Mountain Biking group, TORCA also works on the vast majority of Mt. Lemmon’s multi-use trails as well as man other trail systems in Southern Arizona. They recently adopted Aspen Draw trail as well as C.D.O. trail. In less than Riding the Cañada del Oro Trail a year they were able to re-open one of Tucson’s best back country trails and removed over
Adopt-A-trail volunteering on the Aspen Draw Trail
projects with the City of Tucson, US Forest Districts in Nogales and Tucson, the Arizona Trail Association, the Friends of Redington Pass and many others. The grant money awarded was used to purchase back country tools as well as two Cross Cut saws. These tools were used and continue to be used in their efforts to make Tucson a Mountain Bike Mecca!
