COMPASSIONATE, SERVANT LEADERSHIP

LEARNING THAT NEVER STOPS. WE CALL IT BOLD. What is bold learning? It’s energetic. Forward-looking. Collaborative. Life-changing. Bold Learning ignites the mind, heart, and spirit of each St. Edmund student. It’s learning that’s not satisfied with just factual knowledge. Here, we’re always exploring, always asking questions to deepen our understanding, challenge suppositions, and uncover new insights. It’s a dynamic approach to learning that starts here and continues for the rest of your life.

HOW WE DO IT. In small, interactive classes, with remarkable teachers who will guide and challenge you to discover your passion, develop your talents, and help you reach your academic potential. By encouraging your collaboration with other students as you investigate intellectual, social, and moral questions.

With learning tools and technologies that accelerate your growth as an independent learner.

In immersive experiences in and out of the classroom, where you’ll learn the power of knowledge to solve problems, improve lives, and shape the world. You will work hard and learn to work smart.

At the end of your four years at St. Edmund Prep, you will be empowered and ready to take on new academic challenges and opportunities, and proud with how you got there.

St. Edmund excels at bringing out the creative and innovative spirit that lies within you. At St. Edmund, these aren’t reserved just to the artistic and technological disciplines. Across our curriculum, innovation and creativity go hand in hand with learning. This happens in the most fundamental way by encouraging students always to ask questions, to challenge the status quo, to wonder and to imagine. In this environment, students learn to explore more deeply, to see things from multiple perspectives, to imagine a better solution, and the means to get there.

THROUGH PROJECT-BASED LEARNING, WE TEACH AND EMPOWER STUDENTS TO COLLABORATE, CREATE, AND FIND SOLUTIONS. Allison McGinnis, Principal

YOU ARE CALLED TO SOMETHING GREATER. Faith, character, and intellect are the foundation of St. Edmund Prep. We are committed to helping you to see the world and approach your life as God created them to be: whole.

BE CONNECTED WITH YOUR FAITH CAMPUS MINISTRY PROGRAMS As a Catholic school, we invite all students, regardless of religious tradition, to examine the many ways in which God is acting in their lives and challenge them to realize their responsibility to prayer and action. RETREATS In the midst of our busy lives, opportunities to pause, reflect, and pray are important as we work to develop and deepen our relationship with God. Day-long retreats for Freshmen and Sophomores and the Emmaus Retreat for Junior and Seniors provide the opportunity to examine their own spirituality and their relationship with God, to form community and open their hearts to the experiences, and beliefs of others.

“We could not be more grateful that our son made the Emmaus Retreat. It strengthened his trust and faith in God and bonded him to his classmates in ways we simply cannot describe. He returned a changed person with a renewed desire to grow in his love of the Lord and to serve others through the ministry programs at St. Edmund Prep.” Nick and Diane Cutrone P’20

FAITH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS & OPPORTUNITIES Daily morning prayer, class and community masses, and prayer services help our students to value prayer as a means to personal growth and understanding of themselves. Students are invited to participate in the Sacramental life of the school as liturgical ministers and to share their faith with younger students preparing for Confirmation as leaders of the Cleopas Retreat Program.

A LIVING FAITH

CHARACTER THAT LEADS

Through Baptism, we are called to do great things – not in seeking honor for ourselves, but for God. Our Roman Catholic faith, rooted in Jesus Christ and Sacred Scripture, strengthens us to pursue such greatness, through lives of holiness and excellence.

We help you to grow as a person of virtue, guided by sound habits of character and moral behavior such as prudence, justice, courage, humility and self-control. We give you the structure and guidance to become more self-motivated and self-disciplined. Your growth in virtue, combined with your intellectual development, will fortify you for the challenges and opportunities of leadership, now and throughout your life.

All that we do at St. Edmund Prep is motivated by our motto, “Caritas,” an altruistic and charitable love for God and humankind. The greater our love for God, the stronger and more confident we become with His divine strength, and the more ready and committed to live as bold disciples in the world, with faith, virtue, and love. Together, in partnership with parents, we strive to grow in closer union with God – through prayer, sacraments, study, faith-based programs, retreats and reflection and active service to others. St. Edmund graduates go out into the world with a strong sense of God’s love and their unique role in His plan to serve God and others and improve the world.

Character is also formed through the many school experiences you’ll have both on- and off-campus. Through arts, robotics, athletics and much more, you will develop your talents, hone your teamwork and leadership skills, and form lifelong friendships – and make a meaningful contribution to our St. Edmund Prep community.

St. Edmund Prep has motivated me, not only to become a better student, but also a better person and a leader. I am not only witnessing change, I am creating it. Bridget Harte, Class of 2018

BECOMING A SERVANT LEADER. Your growth in character, faith, and intellect will also mark your transformation as a servant leader, someone with the skills to lead and motivated not by ego but the desire to serve, first. Christian servant leadership flows from our Catholic faith and our desire to live in imitation of our true servant leader, Jesus Christ. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and principles that enable you to become the very best you can be – a leader who is competent, compassionate and committed to serving others – an uncommon leader. That sounds like a big task. It is, but you’ll grow into that role day in and day out from your first day at St. Edmund until you walk across the stage at graduation. Then you’ll go out into the world and discover that you are confident in your ability to learn, committed to living by high Christian ethical standards, inspired by your faith, and enthusiastic about creating a better world wherever you are.
