We all have some interesting holiday stories. Here are some Thanksgiving-themed stories brought to you by Collegiate Students and Faculty: By: Noor Farhoud Caroline Engel: “I was like seven years old. The boys were playing football in the backyard and it was the uncles versus the boy cousins. My brother was twelve at the time and he tackled my forty year old uncle and broke his ribs.” Alex Payne: “Uh I really don’t like Thanksgiving. I mean I don’t even like the food.” Allie Brown: “My family has a reject table where the fun people sit at dinner. The other table is for old people. You don’t want to be at that table.” Emma Schmaltz: “I think I was like four or five. We used to have this huge Cornucopia that we would fill with leaves, you know fall and stuff. So we were done with our dinner and we went to put all of our stuff away and we lit candles all around it. I went back in to get my glass and I just dropped the glass because the Cornucopia had set on fire. My dad took my mom’s really nice jacket and ran outside with it.

What is it like to be such a star? I finally feel like Jaques. What is your favorite thing to eat for Thanksgiving.. Dragons. Would you rather wash your hair in mash potatoes or take a bath in gravy? I’m going to have to go with the potatoes... Have you always been a baller. No. But Lily has. He ended up burning off all of his eyebrows. The fire department came.” Dr. Nixon: “I think this might be the funniest thing that’s happened at Thanksgiving. I got a new cowboy hat but I forgot to get the boots, so I had to wear normal shoes. That’s probably why I’m here at Collegiate.”

Black Friday Shopping Tips - Make sure to push everyone out of your way

Cold is Coming: The Teas of Collegiate By Paige Lamkins and Grace Rodriguez Recently, Paige and

- If you don’t end up with bruises, you didn’t fight hard enough! - leave your Thanksgiving dinner early...who needs family when you can get savings. - give yourself a pep talk before shopping...

Grace started exploring the variety of teas found here at Collegiate. With cold weather coming, here is their review on every type of tea: English Breakfast Tea: Enough caffeine to keep you awake in Phillip’s lectures. If you don’t like coffee, stay away, the taste is

- when you find out the item you were dying to have is sold out, make sure to let everyone know by throwing a huge temper tantrum

similar, but more herbal. (Paige likes this drink best with a little sugar).

- If you really want to be a real black Friday shopper make sure to wear some protection...elbow pads, knee pads, helmet, etc.

long, and don’t add a lot of sugar, because then it tastes like you’re drinking liquefied peppermint candy. It makes Grace want to turn up the Christmas music and watch snow fall.

- Don’t listen to the employees... they don’t know what they are doing

is very green, and you have to let it steep a while to actually taste it. But, otherwise, it’s a nice escape from classes.

- Go to best buy and get as many Blu-ray movies as possible - Manners will get you nowhere, be vicious!!!! *Real Advice: don’t go black Friday shopping unless you really know what you are doing. Black Friday shopping is scary and it can actually be dangerous.

Peppermint Tea: The tea equivalent to retail therapy. So healing, that you can actually feel it healing you. Just, don’t let it steep too

Jade Cloud: It honestly does feel like you’re floating on a cloud. It

Earl Grey: CAUTION. Bitter. Just saying. You have to really like tea to like this… it’s not green, or regular. But try adding some lemon if you want to go for it. Peach Nectar: LET. IT. STEEP. It’s calming, though. Kind of bland because it’s a white tea, but bread tastes really good dipped in it. (That’s a tip from Grace). Tropical Green: Fruit in tea form. If you want a burst of the Amazon in your mouth, then go ahead and try this. It’s a green tea and tastes really good, but it steeps really fast and is really strong, so be careful.

Inside the mind of Jack Larsen: What are your thoughts about your team as you head in to this upcoming historic game? I feel like this is serious...Cooper and believe that Halstead are a bundle of sticks.

Nesmith: The Collegiate Candy Man By Celia Babst 1. How much do you spend on candy in a week? It depends... after Halloween and Christmas they're on discount... anywhere from $10 to $20 a week. People donate candy every now and then. 2. When do you buy your candy? It depends on how badly the senior girls yell at me. Some days before school or the weekend. 3. How much candy do you end up eating every day? I don't eat any of the candy. 4. How do you choose what candy to buy? The senior girls request Kit Kats, Mrs. Hawley requests peanut M&Ms and after that it's whatever I feel like getting. 5. What motived you to begin putting candy in your office? Was it just an attempt to be popular? I've never attempted to be popular. After dinner theater a few years ago I had candy and the blue baseball hat bowl and I filled it up and never stopped. 6. Are you competing with the college counseling office? Absolutely not.

What is your favorite Coach Black quote? Anything directed at Jake Flamini...tweedle **** What is it like to be such a star? Good, as it makes Jad jealous... What is your favorite thing to eat for Thanksgiving.. Stuffing. Yes, STUFFING!!! Would you rather wash your hair in mash potatoes or take a bath in gravy. Both..I would like both. Have you always been a baller? I’ve been A1 since Day 1.

One Direction‘Made in the A.M.’ Review ‘Hey Angel’ This song is an incredible way to kick off this album, resembling the song “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve. Though this was said to be the saddest song on the album, it turned out to be a complete banger. Now this does happen to be 80% Harry Styles, so if you’re a Harrie (like myself) this is the song for you. In the second verse, he sings “Hey angel, tell me do you ever try to come to the other side?” and I promise you it will make you rethink your entire life. ‘Drag Me Down’

‘End of the Day’ The rhythm of this song is all over the place, being fast in the verse and slow during the chorus. Does sound like they mixed multiple songs together, not going to lie, but I personally love it. The lyrics to this song are absolutely remarkable. Louis’ high-note in the end, 10/10 would recommend. ‘If I Could Fly’ If you’re anything like me, you won’t be able to listen to this song in public because you will cry. Hands down, this is the most beautiful song One Direction has ever written or recorded. This song was written by Harry Styles and Johan Carlsson both of which wrote ‘Just a Little Bit of Your Heart’ for Ariana Grande.

Now I’m sure you’ve listened to this chart-topper, I don’t know about you but hearing Harry’s incredible riffs changed me as a person. Still a favorite of mine because of the slick groove, the brash guitar riffs, and the powerful lyrics. Harry’s laugh at the end alone deserves a Grammy.

‘Long Way Down’

‘Perfect’

‘Never Enough’

This being the second single of their album is supposedly a response to Taylor Swift’s “Style” (whom Harry once unfortunately dated) with the lyric “..And if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about Baby, I’m perfect”. This song is the perfect song (haha) to BLAST in your car with the windows down, in fact, I recommend it.

Now this song is definitely something different, starting out with them grunting and a saxophone that will take you by surprise. Really funky, and again, Harry carry’s the chorus in a superb way. Just a super fun song.

‘Infinity’ This song is incredible, and it soars. It builds and builds, taking you higher and higher, not to be fake deep or anything. It does sound very different from the others and has a Coldplay-esque ending with Harry’s high notes backing it- incredible.

This song definitely brings you back to “Drops of Jupiter” by Train and sounds like a warm summer’s day or like warm hug, I love it. And again, Harry brings IT.

‘Olivia’ This song has really resembled The Beatles, really shows how One Direction are not afraid to try new things. To tell you the truth, the bridge really does sound like Willy Wonka “..When you go, and I’m alone, you live in my imagination.” Harry (who wrote the song) wanted this song to have trumpets but it wasn’t aloud, hopefully in the future they will remake this song so Harry will no longer have to live with this injustice.

‘What a Feeling’ One Direction went old-school with this song, with a killer chorus, great lyrics, fantastic instrumentation, the bridge, vocals, everything about it is amazing. They’ve obviously used 70’s and 80’s influences in a fantastic way in this song. Probably one of my favorite songs ever. ‘Love you Goodbye’ Really good vibes, another full-volume tune. When the music stills and Harry sings “Oh why you wearing that to walk out of my life,” absolutely beautiful. Good stuff. ‘I Want to Write You a Song’ They took a simple idea and turned it into a treasure. The lyrics can make you teary eyed, honestly simplicity at its finest. Harry’s verse after the bridge when he sings “Everything I need I get from you, and giving back is all I wanna do,” absolutely amazing. ‘History’ One of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. The perfect camp fire, sing-a-long tune. Very catchy, sweet lyrics, homely vibe, and you can tell what they were trying to get across when writing this song. ‘Temporary Fix’ Harry’s solo in the second verse….that is all. ‘Walking in the Wind’ This song was drawn all the right influences from Paul Simon, in the best possible way. Again, incredible lyrics; “If you’re lost, just look for me. You’ll find me in the region of the summer stars.” This song is literally Harry’s. A deeply warm, tasteful song. ‘Wolves’ This song, being one of my favorites, takes it back to Fleetwood Macs ‘Rumours’ album. According to Liam, this song describes “‘Wolves’ circling your girl at the club...”. ‘A.M.’ A very chill song, sounds like friends talking, drinking, and hanging out. They even say bad words in this- a step up from their song ‘Na Na Na’ from 2012. Buy Made in the A.M. on ITunes ☺

Spartan Football Tonight @ HALSTEAD Sub-State Game 7pm Ski-Theme Halstead: A History Lesson from Dr. Nixon By Lily Burgoyne From whence did the conflict betwixt Collegiate and Halstead arise? Nixon: “Well it really went wrong in 1992 when we beat them in football for the first time and it was on their field. In the fourth quarter when we were way ahead we scored what would be our last touchdown, the guy who caught the touchdown pass turned to the Halstead crowd and he bowed to the crowd and they just went crazy, and so did the officials because they threw a yellow flag. That’s where I think it all went wrong. Another notable part would be in 2000 when we played them in football again on their field and it was the night of Friday 13th, and in the 3rd quarter we were ahead 75-0. At that point there was lightning and thunder everywhere and a Russian satellite came into the Earth’s atmosphere and just blew up in the sky. It was memorable. It was so bad that we had a foreign exchange student come kick an extra point. That’s how bad it was. And I’m sure the
