Men Can Benefit From Facials, Too Though facials are a luxury most often associated with women, good skin is not exclusive to the fairer sex. Though their reasons for getting a facial often differ from women's, men can benefit from facials just as much as their female counterparts. The following are just a handful of the benefits a man can expect to enjoy after receiving a facial.

Even the most technologically advanced razors cause some irritation, and that irritation can be mild, painful or anywhere in between. Rather than growing a beard to avoid the painful side effects of shaving, men can treat their skin to a facial that revitalizes their skin and helps offset some of the more painful side effects of taking a razor to their face.

A guide for health and well-being for you and your family. Study: Skin Requires Topical Vitamin C (NAPSI)—Due to its numerous health benefits, scientists are increasingly giving vitamin C an A+. Beyond its effectiveness in boosting the immune system and preventing prenatal health problems, vitamin C—also known as ascorbic acid— is seen as a powerful weapon for protecting the skin against premature aging. “A study at Seoul National University College of Medicine demonstrated that levels of ascorbic acid decrease in skin over time due to both UV exposure and natural aging,” says Dr. Adam Geyer, consulting dermatologist for Kiehl’s Since 1851. “Ascorbic acid is not only effective at minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, but it also serves

The formula remains one of the most highly effective products of its kind—proven to address not only fine lines and wrinkles, but also reveal a significant improvement in skin texture and radiance. Steve Andrews knows firsthand the pain of losing someone to suicide, an experience that turned him into an advocate for training people to recognize signs of distress. “I often wonder,” he says about his mother’s death, “if things could have turned out differently had she and her family and friends been more aware of this illness. Community Cat

Connection

Patty

Hi, my name is Patty! I am one of the many black cats up for adoption at the shelter. Is that why not ONE person has given me a chance and taken me home? I came to the shelter with my best friend Gigi, when our person passed away. Gigi was adopted in less than a month, but I am still here, 8 months later. I have beautiful shiny black fur and look like a miniature panther, my figure has gotten a little more "plump", because I have been sitting in a cage too long. Will you come and take me home? I am a mature lady, approx. 6 years old, and am in great health. I would love to have a special person to love and be loved by. The CCC is in need of volunteers for both morning and afternoon shifts, 7 days a week. We are also in need of supplies, especially litter (World’s Best/Scoop Away), dry and wet cat and kitten food (Purina/Friskies), paper towels, trash bags, and treats! Any help is very much appreciated! We are located at 289 Thompson Road in Webster and are open Wednesday through Saturday 12pm-5pm. You can see more of our adoptable cats on Petfinder and Adopt-a-pet and we would love it if you would follow us and share our kitties on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com /pages/Community-Cat Connection/183756251774389! Please email us at info@ccatconnect.org for any questions!

When The Rubber Hits The Road—Or Ice— This Winter, Will You Be Ready?

(NAPSI)—In winter, it’s not just about the precipitation on the road. Tires get cold, too, and when they’re cold, all-season tires don’t perform to their full potential. In fact, in temperatures as cool as 45 degrees or below, the rubber in all-season tires gradually hardens, leading to decreased road traction and less grip, causing difficulty with braking and turning. Winter tire safety experts at Discount Tire urge drivers to consider their cold weather climate; if it is regularly below 45 degrees, it’s time for a set of winter tires to keep you and your family safe on the roads this year. “Too often, motorists associate winter tires with only snow and ice,” said Mark Marrufo of Discount Tire. “At Discount Tire, we take winter tire safety seriously and know it’s important for drivers to realize that all-season tires can suffer performance issues on any

driving surface when temperatures drop below 45 degrees, snow or no snow.” Winter tires use specially engineered tread rubber with enhanced compound to add the extra grip needed in winter driving conditions that helps keep a car safely in motion without skidding off the road. This added grip provides 25 to 50 percent more traction in snow and ice than regular all-season tires. Tread design in winter tires also uses thousands of extra traction edges for exceptional grip in cold weather driving conditions where ice, snow, slush and water may be present. What drivers may not realize is precipitation can actually pack in the larger grooves on all-season tires, leading to dangerous skidding and impaired braking. Five tire and road safety tips for winter this year: 1. Replace your all-season tires with superior cold traction winter tires if you regularly drive in temperatures of 45 degrees or below. Scion tC, a Sporty Coupe for Four of Five By Mike Covello

It is rare to find a small coupe that I would describe as roomy, but the tC does meet that description.

I spent a week with my Blue Streak Metallic Scion tC and was surprised how large the cabin felt, despite the car’s 177-inch footprint. Most two door cars require back seat occupants to be capable of performing gymnastics to enter the rear seat. And when they settle in, the lack of legroom and head room are quite noticeable. This is not so in the tC. Within its chunky contours, this Scion offers 88.4 cubic feet of cargo space and 14.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear split seatback up. Scion is Toyota’s brand that is meant to appeal to the young crowd. All auto manufacturers are concerned about recruiting new buyers, and the latest crop of teens and twentysomethings don’t seem to hold the automotive passion that fueled my adolescence with a mix of hormones and gasoline. Scion’s plan is to offer their models with only a few packages, but with plenty of standalone items and options to be installed at the dealer. The 2016 Scion tC starts at $20,180 for the six-speed manual and $21,155 when equipped with the six-speed automatic as my car was. Options included expected items such as $184 carpeted floor and cargo mats, a $445 rear lip spoiler (low profile) and a $469 security system. I don’t know that I would have ordered the $65 wheel locks or $395 paint protection film, but the two remaining options were the ones that made the biggest impact on me and the $24,286 total MSRP of my tC.

But, I found my tester’s ride to be a bit too rough for my getting-older bones. On the highway it cruised just fine, but rough pavement really brought out the worst in my tC. If the drivetrain delighted, I would have felt better about the sporty ride. The 2.5-liter engine only produces 179 hp and 172 lb. ft. of torque. At 3,124 pounds, the tC is no lightweight. The in-line four engine did not provide poor or great acceleration, just adequate.

The rest of the driving dynamics were all top notch. The steering was sharp without being darty. The four-wheel discs were confidence inspiring.
