Saying Goodbye Candygurl84 [Candy] and Itzmee [Jamaine] will not be joining us next year. I would just like to take the time to reflect on these two staff members as they were two of the first people to ever apply to SLM back when it was just an idea in November 2011. These two are amazing and will forever be a part of the SLM family. For the last six issues, Candy has always been the first to turn in her assignments. Always. I can’t tell you how helpful that is when I have to wait two months for other assignments. She understands what it means to be on a team, how important it is to do your part for everything to work right. Candy is such a talented model maker and fashion designer and I always enjoy her work. She is a caring person and a hard worker and she will be deeply missed. Candy, thank you for a year of hard work and dedication, it has always been greatly appreciated.

Jamaine, or "Jammy" as I call him, has to be the nicest teenage boy on the planet. When I met him I swore he was in his early twenties; finding out he was still in High School came as a major shock. Jamaine is so punctual and polite that I swear he’s got a little man living inside him. This year the two of us have gotten so close and I really consider him as my little brother, my very smart and talented little brother. Jamaine, I adore your work and I have since your first build. You make the most exquisite builds on the exchange and I can’t wait until you are older so you can use those skills on real buildings. Working with you this year has been an absolute pleasure and I will miss it dearly. You have a bright future sweetie and SLM was just the beginning. Thank you both for taking a chance with me eleven months ago. Back then SLM was just a bunch of Simmers trying to make a dream happen and now we’re still a bunch of Simmers, but our dreams have come true and you two lived it with us. I love you both and I am so thankful to have taken this journey with you. Thank you for everything. Your Friend ,

-Nik^

In the following tutorials, I will show you how to build two holiday/winter themed playhouses. The first playhouse design I have for you is a Gingerbread playhouse. Great for your holiday themed builds. The second design, a basic Log Cabin, can be used for a variety of builds in any season. Both designs are very flexible and can work with your personal design tastes by changing only small details. - pepper090889

Step 1: The first thing we’ll want to do is place the structure of your playhouse. For this particular design, I went with a simple 4x6 rectangle. Then we’ll go up a level to place the roof. To prevent your playhouse from being a plain, boring box, try having fun with the roof. For this tutorial, I added two columns in the front [on both sides of where my door will be]. Then I used the Gabled Roof and placed the roof across my playhouse, then placed one above the columns, connecting to the other roof. You may need to alter the roof heights until you get it to look the way you want. Step 2: Next, we will move onto the wallpaper. To get that ‘gingerbread’ look, I used a textured fabric from the Fabrics category and colored it a spicy brown color [think the color of cinnamon or ginger]. I used the Flat Wall with Crown Molding [and the corner pieces] and on the corners and the top molding I used a diagonal striped pattern; recoloring it to look like peppermints or candy canes. For the rooflines, I used a flat wall and colored it with the same striped pattern and colors.

Step 3: Once you get the wallpaper recolored to your liking, we can move onto windows and doors. To keep with the candy theme of a gingerbread house, I used the windows and doors that come with Sweet Treats. However, if you do not own ST, you can simply place whimsical looking windows and doors and color them to look like pepper mint stripes or another sweet pattern.

Step 4: Now, moving to the interior, we will start with wallpaper and flooring. I used the same wallpaper as the exterior [without the corner pieces] and colored the ceiling to match the top of the wallpaper. The floor can be the same as the ceiling, wall, or something entirely different. I went with a striped, Christmas colored pattern for the floor.

Step 5: Now we can decorate the space. Keep in mind, you’ll want to decorate and add objects and furniture that is appropriate to the age of the Sims who will be using it. In other words, if you’re designing a space for teens, it’s probably not the best idea to have tons of toys lying around. You’ll want to use items your Sims can use and have fun with.

Step 6: Once we’ve finished the interior design, we can move onto the landscaping. I personally like to save the landscaping until the end; however you may do this in any order you’d like. For the exterior, I used a couple of lamps that came with Sweet Treats [because they look like lollipops]. I then added bushes on either side of the windows. You can landscape to match the rest of your house, or have a small little section of whimsical fun for the kiddos.

Sea Side Seasonal

By: CoreyCanadian Do you need a house by the sea for you to relax in and feel the crashing of the water against the sand, and the magic that comes in during the Holidays.? Well I think we have a place that’s perfect for your needs. Whether you are enjoying the sun and splashing around, or cuddling up with family and friends or enjoying the gifts that are life, Sea Side Seasonal will be there year round.

Do you like fighting? Drama? Upload theft? Battles over position and power? Political maneuvering for position in a forum top slot? A lack of contests? Being told you can trust someone while they secretly auction you off as a slave on Ebay?

Neither do we.

Come to our Simomania Forum at www.simomania.com! We're a nice, friendly forum and chat group with goofball people who have a lot of fun, hold regular contests, and in general work on being happy and avoiding drama! Plus an arcade for gamers! And we won't sell you into slavery!

Step 1: As always, we’ll start out with the structure of the playhouse [or clubhouse]. For this, I used a 4x5 rectangle. Note: Your playhouses do not have to be rectangles or squares. The layout can be as big or as small as you want to build with any number of corners. Next, we will go up a level to the roof. For this design, I used the Gable Roof and Half Gable Roof. The half gable roof was used over the front side of the playhouse so that it adds character and the playhouse does not look like a box. [However, it is optional.]

Step 2: Now we can move onto the exterior wallpaper and the windows and doors. For the wallpaper, I used Horizontal Timbered Wall [comes with base game]. For the windows and doors, I also used base game items. Rassin’ Frassin’ Door, Ventana Subsciente [double windows], and Ventana Suave [windows].

Step 3:

Inside, I used the same wallpaper as the exterior. It is not necessary, but wood paneling would work best with a log cabin. I added wood flooring and used the same wood texture from the wall on the ceiling.

Step 4: Once you have the wallpaper and flooring you want, we can move onto decorating. For this design, I didn’t do much for accessories besides toys. Why? Because I feel that the wallpaper I chose adds to the décor and a lot of accessories aren’t necessary. When you’re placing items, be sure to test the room often for routing. You wouldn’t want to have to completely redo the design because something isn’t functional.

Step 5: I didn’t do much to the landscaping. I added a few flowers and a couple of bushes. When building your playhouse, try to keep with the same style of landscaping. If you do not want to keep with the style, break it off from the rest of the house by adding a fence around it or a divider of some sort.

Thank you for reading my playhouse tutorials and I hope you and your child Sims enjoy them! Be sure to check out the other playhouse tutorials in my Studio: http://tinyurl.com/9hvhnso

Fantastic Fantasy with The Sims 3 A building tutorial by Sarademoor

Medieval times are one of the most enchanting eras in history. The castle was a place of safety, warmth, and community. Creating one for your legacy of Sims is easy and fun!

1 Begin by creating the walls. A traditional castle has curtain walls to protect the Keep, the main part of the castle, where the inhabitants dwell. Shape the walls like a fence allowing space for the Keep and courtyard within. Place the walls for the Keep next.

2 Add the front gate and include the Barbican, the small towers that flank the front gate, allowing for the guards to keep watch for enemies.

Next add the moat - every good castle needs one!

3 6 4

Now we add upper floors to the towers and the Keep. Finish by adding a Tudor style wall covering to the fourth floor tower.

With the moat placed, we can now use the basement tool to create the kitchen and dungeon under the Keep.

7 5 Use a nice stone wall covering to add to the authenticity of your castle, and then place all the doors and windows. Finally, add the standard gable roofing for the fourth floor and use the conical roof for the towers.

Place the stairwells next. Due to the size restrictions in this build, the spiral staircase is perfect. Remember to start with the lower floors first when placing stairs, so they will stack on top of each other properly.

8 Last but not least, position the landscaping and foot paths. Creating paths that wind around the castle add interest. Harvestable trees are an excellent accent to the exterior of the castle and give your medieval Sims a place to gather food. Next station plants in the moat, with perhaps a few flowers or toadstools on the banks.

Fantastic Fantasy with The Sims 3 A decorating tutorial by Lissykin After your shell is complete, the decorations come next. This part will add all the tools your Sims will need to live productive Sim lives, as well as add to the fantasy of living in medieval times.

1 To begin, add a statue or two next to the drawbridge. Now place all the weaponry available in Buy Mode to the Barbicans.

2

The inner courtyard is a gathering place, so this is where you will place any outdoor activities, as well as a few decorative items. Remember that not every piece must be useable during game play; some items are just there for ambiance.

The Wishing Well is a welcome addition and can help to create some wonderful stories for your Sim princesses!

3

4

5

6

The first floor towers will hold the bathrooms. Since they’re near the moat, this only makes sense. Medieval sewers! Use the Create-a-Style tool to recolor all the plumbing for a wood look.

The Great Hall is next. Place a large dining table and the thrones for the wise rulers in this room. All the shields and swords you can find, as well as, suits of armor and banners define the presence of the royal family.

The front towers in the keep are small. One is reserved for the stairwell; the other makes a lovely indoor gardening area.

7 The second floor area above the Great Hall is a wonderful place for a domino set, or perhaps chess. The tower corners hold benches for Lords and Ladies to rest and reflect.

9

10 In the nursery, a crib with the same curtained style has been selected. A rocking chair is excellent in here, so the royal parents can rock with their swaddling babe.

8 The third floor is for the bedchambers. The entry has been transformed to a library by placing a bench, tapestry and bookshelves.

Veering slightly from tradition, the King and Queen will share quarters with a connecting room to the nursery. The bed used for the King and Queen has all the trimmings of a medieval bed; an abundance of curtains to keep out the cold and a bench placed at the end for dressing.

11 The final chamber on this floor is great for bathing quarters. Place a tub in here and use the Create-a-Style tool to make it constructed of wood. Add water buckets and a laundry basket, as well as, towel racks.

13

12

The basement will hold the kitchen and laundry. In medieval times, the kitchen’s warmth would double as under floor heating for the Great Hall. This kitchen should have everything needed for a good Sim-made meal, with just enough rustic charm to be accepted as partially medieval.

The fourth floor tower will hold the wizard’s room. Magic wands, a bubbling cauldron, and spell casting podium are supplies every on-site wizard will need. Don’t forget a telescope!

14 Now for the dungeon, where those that cross the King are sent. Decorate this room with fencing that resembles jail bars and bales of hay for bedding. Using the moveobjects on cheat (ctrl+shift+c opens the window) will allow for end tables to be placed inside of barrels so that candles can be perched upon them. In the dungeon chamber, make sure to place items that add a bit of a sinister feel. Rope, knives, creepy crawlies, and potions make any Sim ready to talk!

Longthorne Castle Keep: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=6759457 Tiny or tremendous, castles of any description can be made using these guidelines. Creating a lineage of Sims that have heritage hailing from the, the Middle Ages creates a chain of prominent ancestry for your next Sim Legacy.

Do you have a room you desperately want to renovate but do not quite have the funds? For those of you that play without “motherlode”, I’m going to give you a few easy tips to update your décor in a budget friendly approach. The best way to update your abode without spending a fortune is to simply change up a wall texture or take that boring old sofa and give it a facelift. The key to a successful renovation, however, is the pattern and color choice.

Starting Point: Choose a pattern you love. Think about what you like about the pattern. Is it the size, the print, or the colors? Once you have your first pattern, it will be easier to choose patterns and colors that relate to the one you already have.

Color Palette: Before starting your renovation, it’s best to start with the basics. Choosing the right color palette will give your room a sense of stability. Coloring your patterns in corresponding colors makes your room more cohesive. Your patterns do not have to be solid colors and do not need to have all the same colors. As long as you choose at least one or two color that is similar throughout your patterns, everything else should come together smoothly. However, it is important not to color your patterns so that they clash. For example: If you have black as a dominant color in a wall pattern, coloring the couch with a dominant black pattern will make the sofa blend with the wall. Instead, try going a few shades lighter [in black or a different color] so that it adds contrast. Do you have to use color in patterns? The answer to that is no. You can use neutral colors on your patterns and bring the pops of colors into your room with accessories.

Size Matters: The scale of your patterns is important. It is good to have varying sizes within your room. For example: If you use a large scaled pattern on the wall, try using a smaller scale pattern on your furniture. If pillows are involved use a different scale than the one used on the couch itself. This will create a balance in the room. Try to avoid using same scale patterns next to each other.

Pattern Choice: When choosing the patterns for your room, it is okay to mix stripes and plaids or florals and damask. However, you do not want to use a bold pattern on all surfaces in the room. Using solid colored patterns is okay. You can use textured patterns or color a pattern with different hues of the same color, making it imitate a textured pattern. If you’re uncertain of a certain pattern or how it would look with your other pattern choices or colors, experimentation is always acceptable and easily changed. Mix and match patterns and colors until you’re happy with the result.

Quantity: I’ve always believed in “Quality over quantity.” Patterns in interior design are no exception. When designing a room, choosing four to five patterns in different scales and color combinations should do fine. Most likely, the largest scale pattern should be used as the dominating pattern within your room. Be sure to choose patterns that will not clash when paired next to each other or overpower each other or the room.

Patterns Used GC Florals, GC Wallpaper, GC, Stripes, GF Buds and GC Texture. For five additional patterns visit my studio: http://www.thesims3.com/userExchange.html?persona=pepper090889&assetType=material

By: Candygurl84

Tis the Season to be colorful! Winter is one of the best times of the year to mix and match your colors and patterns. Break out those snowflakes and swirls and you will be set for any event. When styling your sims, consider their personality and what they would like to wear. Are they more conservative with a nice sweater or shirt and tie combo? Or are they more outgoing with bold pops of colors paired with animal print? The possibilities are endless when it comes to what is acceptable for Winter Fashion. Experiment with patterns, colors, textures and outfits until you find something perfect for your sim this holiday.

Winter is here and so is Family Photo time! No coordinating outfits, your sims aren’t in a boy band. And no silly Christmas sweaters with snowmen and reindeers. Miss E has styled six sims all with different personalities for your enjoyment, now you can take those greeting cards in style!

Miss E’s Style Tips Check the exchange regularly for new patterns. At certain times of the year (Christmas, Halloween, Spring etc) a lot of pattern creators upload new batches of themed patterns. Set aside some time to curl up and browse. Think about your sim and their personality when designing clothes for them. An outgoing sim is likely to want to have much bolder patterns and recolors than a more introverted sim, for example. Think about using patterns as accents. Sometimes a pattern might be ”too much” when placed on a large piece of clothing, such as a long dress or jacket, but may be perfect for a trim, or collar. Always experiment and never say never to a pattern until you've had a chance to try it out!

The Legacy Life by: Jaguwar We have spoken to them throughout the year. They are the ladies of storytelling, the mavens of recreating life in a digital world, they are members of that particular group of Simmers we call “Legacy writers.” It was a real pleasure talking to them this year, and in order to celebrate it as we look to the new one, I decided to invite them to my house for an end-of-year dinner. Of course, our conversation eventually turned to their legacies, and their lives.

JS: So which legacy are you working on right now? Cali: I’m still on The Brannon Legacy. CreativeMommy: I am still working on The Abruzzi Legacy, although I have had some challenges. I lost every single picture from the Intro to The Abruzzi’s all the way to chapter 4.9. So I have been hectically working on redoing all of those pictures. But I had to put that on hold for a while because my computer decided it wanted to take a 3 week trip to the graveyard, luckily I got it fixed though and didn't lose anything.

JS: Oh no, that’s no good! What about you two?

Heaven: I’m still attempting to work on my Avendale's. Due to a long string of computer problems on a new rig, it's been tough going and they aren't getting nearly enough of my attention as I would like.

Reya: Right now I’m working on the Sari Random Legacy, the sequel to the Sabo Legacy!

JS: Wow, it seems the end-of-year computer plague is showing its ugly head! I’ve had similar problems, every year for several years in a row. Knocking on wood that I escape this year! *Everyone nods as they enjoy some more of the delicious food laid out on the table *

So, tell me, is this the same legacy we reviewed earlier this year? Heaven: It is! Surprisingly, and rather pathetically, I'm still only on Generation 5 of a 10 generation family. The old laptop was painfully slow so it took a long time to get anything done. The new computer is back and forth in the shop so it's hard to Sim without my machine.

Reya: Nope! The Sari Legacy is a sequel of the Sabo Legacy. The Sabo's Legacy ended with the generation eight heir, Briar, raising seven kids with a broken heart and a selfish second wife. Apparently my game did not like me having five kids by two mothers born on the same day... so I had to move my next heir, Melody, to a new town and decided to just kick off a whole new legacy in order to give her a name change.

*We all laugh at the vagaries of what we all know can be a temperamental game. Then I ask,*

“So what's new with your characters? Any juicy gossip? Reya, you go first since you’re doing something different.” Reya: A lot has happened since you showcased Mackenzie Sabo’s generation, and the family has moved and grown a lot since then. Mackenzie’s great-granddaughter, Melody and family friend Alexandra were the founders for my new legacy. Since then the family has dealt with a secret daughter from an affair, a dangerous multi-generational mob battle, twin-links, and of course a generous sprinkle of magic. Currently I’m telling the story of my Gen 6 heir, Gem, a hard working doctor and family man with a kind wife, a fairy for a daughter, and a genius son. That same son just introduced the world to Seasons and I’m going to have a lot of fun with that.

Nice! What about you, Heaven? Heaven: I believe last time we left off at the end of Generation 3, just before the 4th Generation heir was taking over. Now midway through Generation 5, there has been drama, some good and some bad, moving around and trying to find the perfect home, and a little bit of romance. As soon as I get a chance to churn out some chapters, Generation 6 (now children) will be about ready for their heir vote.

Cali: With Pearl's help, Farrell was able to infiltrate MorcuCorp's secret lab and rescue Aouregan. The couple is now happily reunited, but Farrel had to move his family to a new town, Drake's Hollow, where MorcuCorp won't be able to find them. Elliot suffered a career ending back injury. As if that wasn't bad enough, his wife Shelly's response to this was to blame him for not being the husband she wanted. They're divorced now, and he's moved to Drake's Hollow with his brother. “Whoa! Draaaammaaaa!” I intone.

Is anyone taking a hiatus from writing? If yes, why, and when do you plan on coming back? Heaven: I guess you could call it that, though it's a forced one! As soon as my computer is working the way it should, (or replaced with one that does work,) I'll be back at it.

Cali: No hiatus for me!

I’m sure your readers will be happy to hear that! Moving away from legacies for a moment, who got Seasons? (I raise my hand and watch as everyone else does too. An excited Heaven begins: Heaven: I did! It's quite exciting as that was all I've wanted since I made the switch to TS3 about a year and a half ago.

Cali: I had this one pre-ordered. I was very excited to be getting weather again. And the Festivals look like fun.

Mommy: I definitely did, I pre-ordered it the same day I pre-ordered Supernatural! :) That was one EP that I could not miss getting, I have wanted Seasons ever since The Sims 3 first came out.

Reya: Yes, and from the five minutes I’ve been able to play it for, I’m in love!

How do you think EA's latest EP will affect your legacy families? Heaven: Wonderfully, because I, as their Sim deity, will make it so! (She laughs, and we join in.) Actually, I do think it will be great for my Sims to experience some changes in the weather. I've not had a chance to really consider how I will introduce it into the story (or even if there will be some attention given to it or if I'll just "let it snow" as calisims put it).

Mommy: I think the latest EP is going to have quite an effect on my legacy families lives. I started out with having one character explain that there are strange weather conditions unlike in the other towns. But by the time I get back to work on chapters I will have that figured out nicely.

Reya: Well as soon as Seasons was announced I knew I was going to have to get it -here she shoots a sideways look at Calisims - because I promised someone an alien abduction plot point. It took me a while but when I rolled Inventor for my Gen 7 heir I instantly had a plot that was actually just realized in one of my more recent updates. But now I’m stuck because I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be to incorporate such a huge change in the middle of the story! The new EP will definitely have a huge effect on all legacy stories, but I think the change will be for the better once the initial awkwardness from “Yeah... it rains now.” wears off.

Do you have other Sim projects going on? Mommy: I do currently have other projects I am working hard on. I have a few Sims I am trying to get finished to release to the Sims community. I also have two houses I am currently working on, but they won't be done for a while since they are rather big and I lose inspiration after a while. I am still debating on whether I will be releasing them or not. I will know if I am or not after I talk to my collaborators. :)

Reya: Yes! After finishing Heaven’s latest story contest on MTS I fell in love with the story I’d done and didn’t want to let it go. So I decided to continue with it in a different blog. The updates are very... VERY slow right now, almost once a month because of other commitments but I like it and I hope to be able to spend more time on it soon. It’s called Project: Orycalcos and follows two super-powered girls trying to get some kind of freedom in a world that calls them Freaks.

Heaven: I do. I've been in the process of starting a new CAW world, based on the New England area of the United States, particularly Maine. I just have all these ideas of how it could look and really take advantage of the different types of weather that we now have for Seasons. It's slow going, especially when switching files back and forth between computers but I do hope to finish it someday.

Cali: I have two other story blogs I write, and that keeps me pretty busy. I do build a lot of lots for those projects, and I keep meaning to add a section for lot downloads to my legacy blog. I've just been too lazy/forgetful to get the shopping lists together to do that properly.

Any wishes for yourself for the New Year? Cali: I'm hoping to be able to get back east this year and visit my nieces and nephew.

Mommy: As far as Sims is concerned I want to get back into my legacy very soon and hopefully get my two houses finished before the end of the year. In RL I hope to get some issues resolved that are currently going on right now and I hope that my sister and I finally get our business up and running by the 1st week of January."

Heaven: I'd love to get a chance to really fall back into the Avendale’s. They've been such good friends to me that I miss them terribly now that we're spending so much time apart. Also, real life wise, my husband and I might be moving across the country (we're still waiting for information from his job) and we're both hoping that we'll get the confirmation. I'd love to get back to the right coast and be closer to our families!

Last word: Anybody care to send end-of-year shout-outs? Mommy: I want to say Happy Holidays to all of my awesome Simmer and nonSimmer friends, I am so lucky and happy to have you all in my life! Also Happy Holidays to my family, I wouldn't be anywhere without you guys, I love you all so much! Happy Holidays to you as well, Jag, thank you for being so helpful with anything/ everything I need. You are an awesome friend and I can't wait to work with you on more projects!

Blushing, I hug Mommy. “AW! You’re so sweet, thank you too, hon, and,” I add, turning to all the ladies gathered at my table, “Thank you all for your hard work, for sharing so much of yourselves with all of us in the Simming community, and for coming over to dinner.

Now, how about we go open up some presents?”

The Sims 3 Buyer’s Guide

Seasons Expansion Pack Overview Finally it is here! The Sims 3 Seasons Expansion Pack; the game we’ve all been waiting for. Unlike any other Expansion Pack, Seasons allows you to play with each season [Summer, Fall/Autumn, Winter, and Spring] but also includes new weather options [rain, snow, hail, and fog]. Get ready to play new sports, wear new clothes and have new parties! If you thought your game was boring before, Seasons is sure to add new dimensions to your gameplay.

Create A Sim So let’s start with the bad news. Seasons doesn’t come with much clothing at all, even in the outerwear category, this is the first clue to knowing this isn’t a “jam-packed expansion pack” it is simply... a little stuffed. The few hairstyles for the women are nice, at least they have good quality, but there is nothing for the men, who are constantly given second-best. The outfits in CAS are mostly costumes for Halloween and they are offered for your everyday attire... which is nice for some, but it also means that some auto-generated Sims might be going around with cowplants for heads and hot dogs for bodies. Honestly, these outfits are just unnecessary as you don’t need to go into CAS for Spooky Day and having them offered with a simple “unlockoutfits on” would allow for nice boundaries in spawned-in Sims. The rest of the attire has its ups and downs, there is a lot of attire for the cold days but not much that can be put to any other use. It seems that EA doesn’t understand that seasonal clothing doesn’t just apply to the colder days of the year.

Build /Buy Mode Seasons may have been a disappointment with clothing but from the simplest of couches to snowcone machines, this is one category in which you won’t be disappointed. Seasons proves it still has nice new stuff for your Sims, not just old sets and items. All of this new furniture will fit in well with most any homes; they could go into a summer home, an all-year home or just a build project for the holidays! Of course, these items may need to be recolored to fit into certain themes but with a little bit of tweaking, these items would look great in any home, of any style. Build/Buy Mode has really made up for CAS in this expansion pack, allowing your Sims to still live in high fashion even when they may not be dressed to impress with clothes from Seasons.

Summer We all got so tired of seeing perfect, summer-y weather all of the time before this expansion pack and with the promise of Seasons, many people were not going to play too in-depth with Summer. However, with all of the additions to this seemingly boring Season, you and your Sims will have days filled with fun, festivals and swimming in the ocean. Beware though, you run the risk of your Sims being sunburned, giving us yet another way to watch our Sims suffer as we laugh.

Of course, your child and teenage Sims don’t get to fully enjoy all of this, as they still have school throughout summer. This also applies to your Sims with jobs, it depends on the profession. It may be nice to have leisure day but the idea of a whole season off would have been wonderful. Still, the hot-dog eating contests, the sunburns and the roller skating is lots of fun and still enjoyable for any Sim after school or work.

Fall Ah, fall, where the leaves turn beautiful hues of orange, red, yellow, and brown, falling off of their tree branches and nesting in the grass, waiting to be raked up into a big pile so that it can be played in... innocently or not. But the leaves aren’t the only cool thing that come with fall! At the festival your Sims can bob for apples and have pie eating contests. Feast parties and costume parties are also lots of fun, two new types of parties to help kick off the holiday season. Feast parties are wonderful as Thanksgiving fill-ins for those of us who wanted Thanksgiving, and not only do you get your Sims to bring family and friends together but you also get the addition of free food and no work necessary. Sims will bring their favorite foods with them, a whole week’s supply in fact, and when there are leftovers... you can keep them! Among these leftovers you may find pumpkin pie, a new recipe provided with Seasons. Your Sims will be able to buy pumpkins from the supermarket and choose to carve them into silly or scary faces, or eat them!

However, pumpkin pie isn’t the only thing you may find at a costume party, they are also perfect for seeing those costumes you just wouldn’t see for a whole other year. Not to mention, they get you in the Spooky Day spirit. Spooky Day, like Leisure Day, allows you to have the day off for all of your Sims but on Spooky Day, your child and teen Sims can spin around in sparkles and swirls to get into the costume of your choice (no CAS required). You can start trick-ortreating at any house you please and your Sims will continue to trick-ortreat to all of the other houses they can without you having to tell them to do anything. The candies your Sims will receive will give them a nice “Sugar Rush” every time they have

Winter The season we have all long-anticipated... winter! The season full of presents, joy, peace, love, happiness and snow! Playing in the snow - or at least having your Sims play in it - is so much fun. Making snow angels, creating snowmen and building igloos, adds so much to your Sims’ lives, allowing your gameplay to be enriched by not only the decorative additions but the interactions as well.

Your Sims can learn to build all sorts of snowmen until they have a whole collection full of Hockey Snowmen, Alien Snowmen and Evil Snowmen, to name a few. Your Sims can build their snowmen with other Sims, allowing them to build their relationship in the most entertaining ways possible. In igloos, your Sims can sleep or stay up all night having some fun. Your Sims don’t only have to play in the snow but on ice too! They can ice skate in a rink or on a pond, building up skills that can also be applied to roller skating, which will come around again in the Spring.

The snowflakes will keep falling, giving you more space and more snow to work with, building more and more igloos and snowmen, making snow angel after snow angel. All in preparation for the big day! So string up your holiday lights on your rooftops and get your flu shots so you aren’t sick on Snowflake Day. Then, finally, the day comes and your Sims rush to give gifts and have feasts, all with family and friends, spreading the holiday cheer. Remember not to be a Scrooge and to spread all the joy you can as your windows frost up and the fireplace roars, giving your Sims comfort throughout the rest of the winter.

Spring Throughout the stormy weather, spring is making its plans to roll in, giving your landscape collectable wildflowers and rain. Of course, the flowers might mean your Sims will get allergies and they may also start to see more collectables, not only the normal rocks and bugs, but eggs. Yes, eggs! It is egg hunt time at the festival, where kissing booths, the dance floor and roller skating can be found, perfect for your Sims’ dates and blossoming romances.

Speaking of romance and dates, perhaps your Sims might like to follow up on those love letters they have been sending or catch up with those they have met online, by asking their love interest out on a date? Well now, with Love Day on the calendar, your Sims can enjoy an entire day off work or school just to find or meet a new love! Of course, these silly crushes can only turn into true love with the help of the new Love Inspector machine and the Love Inspector is always correct, isn’t it?

The kids don’t have to get in the way of your Sims blossoming romance either, preoccupied as they will be with finding those wonderful eggs or perhaps a lone festival ticket or even a spring gnome! Though spring may be a time of love, it is also a time for much more, with collectables sprouting up everywhere and the possibilities of a small fortune for your Sims. They may not just fall in love with other Sims but perhaps, even with their riches! Your Sims will have to learn to love both wisely, as spring will come to an end and the year will start over again, each time with more to do and more fun promised!
