During the week, we will work with materials like wood pieces, blocks, clay, and upcycled materials to create our own construction projects. Since this week focuses on working with tools and manipulatives, your child will get extra practice with their fine motor skills.

No program June 19

Let’s get our bodies moving with song and dance! We will practice our gross motor skills by dancing with this popular educational children’s artist. Honeybees will also explore other rhyming songs that assist in language development, social-emotional development, and school readiness. Your child will have you singing along by the end of the week. July 1-3

Famed author of “The Bad Seed” and “The Good Egg,” Jory John uses silly stories to help children see the world in a different light. Many of his books focus on learning about good deeds, how our actions impact others, and what it means to be a friend. Children will spend time this week focusing on these themes, creating fun crafts, and practicing treating each other with kindness.

Just like the popular song by Kermit the Frog, there is a rainbow connection happening in the Stingerbees’ camp this week. We will focus on important qualities like friendship, teamwork, respect, and kindness. By working together, we might even find what’s at the end of the rainbow. Maybe Kermit will show us the way! We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

July 8-12

There is a beautiful array of colors all around us! From the grass to the sky, we can see so many different shades of colors. We will take advantage of the outdoors and use our surroundings to inspire us as we create art projects all about lights and colors. We will also learn about the color wheel, different color combinations, and read books like “The Color Monster.”

Deep in the woods lives a family of bears … watch out or you might stumble upon their cave! This week, Stingerbees are “going on a bear hunt.” We will do animal themed crafts, play outdoor games, and even eat some bear themed snacks. Teamwork and listening will also be themes of the week as that’s what it takes to find a bear’s cave!

Middle & Upper School . . . . Course Descriptions

W

ith our Middle and Upper School Experience format, participants may select a morning enrichment session of their choice and then choose to stay for our afternoon experience, The Swarm (see below). We also have several full-day opportunities for both Middle and Upper School students scattered throughout our eight-week Summer Program that will allow students to experience service learning, adventure, and team building. Our age-appropriate offerings are similar to The Seven Hills School experience — hands-on, engaging, and creative. The Summer Program offers a full spectrum of activities for rising fifth graders through 11th graders to enjoy.

Summer P.E. June 10-21 | 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (No program June 19) This is a two-week program for Seven Hills rising 10th grade students. Instructor: Lindsey Steuer Summer P.E. will follow, as closely as possible, the established physical education curriculum for sophomores as stated in the current course description. Students will be exposed to a variety of lifetime sports and activities as well as fitness exercises that aim to provide stress relief to each student. Yoga and pilates will be incorporated throughout the curriculum as well as self-defense. Students will also learn new workouts in the weight room and different fitness workouts they can use outside of the classroom. Lifetime sports that will be taught include, but are not limited to, golf, tennis, frisbee golf, cornhole, badminton, and bowling. Who should choose this camp: Seven Hills rising 10th graders who want to earn their P.E. credit during the summer Fee: $450

Community Service Sampler

Seven Hills students will earn five hours per day of service toward the graduation requirement. Note: Eligibility to earn hours for non-Seven Hills students is up to the student’s school. Who should choose this camp: Students with an interest in learning about and serving their community Fee: $395

Middle School Expeditions: Caves June 24-28 This is a five-day, four-night trip for Seven Hills sixth through eighth graders. Instructor: Shane Marsan

The week culminates with a return journey to Cincinnati, marked by a farewell dinner that encapsulates the camaraderie and memories forged during this enriching and unforgettable summer experience.
