Potentate-elect’s notes

Welcome to the January 2016 edition of our award winning “Reporter” magazine. It is a great honor to be featured as Potentate of this fine temple for 2016. I promise that I will never knowingly bring discredit to our temple or our Shrine. Why am I a Mason/Shriner? Very simply, I owe a great debt to my Father’s Lodge. Dad was a helper in his Lodge, not a leader. He was always on the sidelines in support and did a lot of the set up and cooking that was always needed. He worked hard to support his family and keep them safe. Cancer took him, leaving my Mother a widow with seven kids at home. I was twelve. We had little or nothing. We all went to work when we were able to help make ends meet. Often during the month, the doorbell would ring and a Mason stood there with food left from that night’s Masonic dinner, to check on any needs and see how the kids were doing. Christmas brought parties and presents for the kids and something very special for Mom. This went on until we were able to get by on our own. My debt is never ending. It is always asked “what does this man bring to Sahib as Potentate?” I will try to give you a simple summary of my background that may help in understanding who I am. I am a Maine native, worked my way through the University of Maine, and earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Post Master’s degrees in Education and Administration. I was a teacher and administrator for many years. Militarily, I entered service as a Private and after many years of Active and Reserve service retired as a Field Grade Officer. My Shrine service began when I was 39 years old. In the ensuing 41 years I never had a year that I was idle, holding elective and appointive positions every year up to and including that of Potentate in 2016. I held so many positions that I sometimes cannot recall them all. Masonically I received my 50 year Medal of Honor from the Grand Master of Maine, am a member of Venice Lodge No. 301 and Tranquil Lodge No. 29 in Maine and a member of Scottish Rite in Maine. The most important part of my life is my wife, Lady Sandy. Without her support and assistance, most of the above would not exist! She, along with our children and now grandchildren, made me want to continue my efforts in support of the greatest philanthropy on earth! What can you expect this year? Lots of the same, but a few new wrinkles. We plan on bringing a couple of new ideas, dust off some older activities and keep the things you like! I ask your support and forbearance as we progress through this year. My door is open to positive input at any time and I will listen to negative comments only if you are ready to step up and help resolve them. Yours in the Faith, Carroll G. Scribner Sahib Potentate 2016

T

he temple’s election is history and 2016 is under way. The 2015 year seemed to rush by and many memories were created. Sahib continues to provide its members opportunities to socialize and work for the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Tampa as it has for over thirty years. I wish to thank those nobles that were at the Stated Meeting on December 2 and showing interest in the election of the 2016 Divan. Congratulations to the newly elected club and unit officers, if I can assist you in any way, please contact me. There were many things accomplished in 2015 through the leadership of Past Potentate Connie Jacobi. As this year begins anew and older things will develop, the Divan will have the interest of Sahib’s future in mind. We will continue to

need the members’ support and ideas to succeed in our obligation to you and the mission of Sahib Shriners. Those that are involved are not thanked sometimes for the hours and physical effort given to make projects successful. An example of such support occurred during the 2nd annual FEZtival of Trees. I observed volunteers for the 2015 FEZtival of Trees on Friday and Saturday, there were many working to make the second FEZtival successful. Club and Unit members along with their ladies put in many hours working the floor, selling/collecting, placement/cleanup and food/ kitchen production. To you all, thank you for a job well done and to the committee that organized the project it was great. This is an example of the cooperation of . . .continued on page 35 

Chief Rabban-elect’s notes by Bill Balkwill, balkwill@verizon.net I hope and pray that everyone had a wonderful holiday; both Lady Gail and I enjoyed our first Christmas with baby Luna and the kids in cold Michigan. Now I know why I moved to Florida in 1975. I turned another year older but do not know if I am any wiser. Lady Gail and I want to thank all the nobles of Sahib for electing me as your Chief Rabban for 2016; it is an honor to serve. If there is anything I can do for your club, unit or yourself, just ask. I know that with Potentateelect Carroll Scribner we will have many new changes and ideas for Sahib Shriners. Thank you Ill. Sir Connie Jacobi and Lady Deanie for all you did in 2015. You accomplished a lot and established a great 5-year plan to help guide us through the upcoming years.

We just experienced a huge success with the FEZitval of Trees. Both Ill. Sir Carrol Scribner and First Lady Sandy need a big pat on the back, along with all volunteers who helped make this another successful event. Let’s say great job! How many of you know about the “Sahib Walk of Honor”? The Buy a Brick program (Sahib Walk of Honor) is a program to honor someone who has touched your life, a loved one, or dedication to a fellow noble, Mason or yourself. Clubs and units are encouraged to buy bricks in support of the hard work they have done for Sahib Shriners. The donations will help support Sahib. 016 is here. Where did 2015 go? The Motor Corps had a good twelve months under the stewardship of now Past President Dave Bell (Jetfoot). We look forward to an active year in 2016 and are willing to participate in many activities throughout the year. As promised in last month’s edition, we are pleased to announce our club’s officers for 2016. Serving as President will be John Hubbard (Hotrod). Bob Hammer (Hammertime) was elected Vice President; Giles Light (G-man) as Secretary; and Barry Hart (Policyman) as Treasurer. Hampton Crimi (Monk) and Scott Steelman (Gray Fox) were elected as board members. We are pleased to announce that we have four new members of the Motor Corps which are Darren Bracken (Schmoozer), John Machanska, Rich Robbins (Big Dawg) and Mike Weaver (Biker Mike). We are not sure if John has selected a moniker as of yet, but if he does not, the club could assign one! We will be glad

to welcome any other motorcycle riders out there who want to join our ranks. Also, if you have a motorcycle and need a moniker, we can help with that too. Just contact any current member. We served 251 guests at our Motor Corps Spaghetti Dinner on November 15. That was down slightly from last year, but we thank all who attended and supported this event. We will be back February 21 for another Spaghetti Dinner. The Motor Corps has been busy these past few weeks. It seems like there are a lot of activities going on this time of year. We participated in the Venice Holiday Parade on November 28 and the Sarasota Holiday Parade on December 5. Unfortunately, we did not make the North Port Poinsettia Parade because of a conflict with our annual Christmas Party. We hope you noticed that the Motor Corps participated in the FEZtival of Trees during the last week in November. . . .continued on page 35 

orth Port Shrine Club hopes all nobles and families enjoyed a happy, healthy and safe Holiday season. Like the proverbial bad penny I am back. I did not realize there were so many readers of the NPSC “Reporter” article and that it was missed by so many folks. I am very pleased and grateful. I will try, one eye still working and Lady Kitty assisting, to keep the Sahib nobles informed of NPSC activities. For various reasons I cannot attend all activities but will depend on fellow members to keep me apprised. After all, I still have a folder full of “Bits & Pieces and “Quotable Notables” to use up. As you may remember I am fond of poking fun at the snow-nobles who flee to that never-never land up north. Well they are back and enjoying the NPSC camaraderie. Nice to see them once again. Maybe we can persuade some to remain. At this writing we are mourning the loss of Nobles Joe Harrington and Don White who have entered the unseen temple. NPSC extends sincere condolences to their families. Several NPSC Picnics have come and gone, missed by your Scribe, but from all reports, they were most enjoyable. Also in November the Veterans’ Day remembrance program was hosted by yours truly to remind NPSC veterans they will never be forgotten. In attendance were senior WWII veterans, Captain Bill Schultz and Major B. John Ross, B-17 pilots, USAAF; Dick Holmes USAAF; Lowell McCarty USA. Noble Jed Koontz, Captain USMC, treated all nobles to breakfast. Thank you kindly Captain Koontz. Sahib Chief Rabban Carroll Scribner has been attending our breakfasts to plug the FEZtival of Trees

during November 27, 28 and 29 at Sahib Shriners. From all reports, things are progressing smoothly. NPSC nobles participated in the Venice Holiday Parade on the evening of November 28 and in the North Port Poinsettia Parade in December. December saw our annual black-tie Holiday celebration scheduled at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice. Officers to be in formal dress. As of this writing not enough members have sent in reservations. Hopefully this will change by party time. New NPSC Officers have been installed: President Albert Sawdai, 1st Vice President Dave Wheatcroft, 2nd Vice President John Brophy and Secretary/ Treasurer Clinton Van Tassell. As of this writing I do not have the names of directors. If anyone has tried to contact me from November 28 through December 12 and could not, my lady and I were away on our annual Sanibel vacation. Apologies. (Bits and Pieces) A wannabe diva: An airline pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger refused to stop singing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” She started belting out the song when the plane took off and her out-of-tune crooning soon became too much for passengers and crew. At the unscheduled stop, police handcuffed and escorted the woman off the plane as she still continued singing. You have to admire her determination. (Quotable Notable) Catching up: August QN Aesop, September Confucius, October Samuel Beckett. Next up – Who said, “everyone has a photographic memory; some just don’t have film”? The usual free breakfast for two still applies to whoever identifies this QN. 

SHRINE UNIT NEWS Clown Corner by Harold “Ding-a-Ling” Bell, scrappysarasota@comcast.net

T

he 2015 holidays have come and gone, but the Clowns will have many great memories for their participation in the parades, going to the North Pole, and, of course, the parties of friendship and celebrating the season. Our clown ladies started the month by representing the Clowns in the Sahib FEZtival of Trees. It was a beautifully decorated tree with all the trimmings. Some lucky person took the tree home and had a beautiful start for their Christmas season. It is always fun participating in the Holiday Parades and the first one in Venice was enjoyed by the clowns because of the enthusiasm of the many children and adults that lined the parade route. Not to be outdone, the parade goers in Sarasota were well represented by happy children. The last parade was in North Port. It was a twilight parade. The crowds were not as large, but a lot of appreciation was shown by the children and adults. The Clowns’ participation in the program for our hospital’s patients called “Going to the North Pole” was held at the Sarasota Airport and sponsored by the Manatee Sheriffs. It was held on December 10 and we had twelve lady and men clowns entertaining over 100 children. It was so heartwarming to see the smiles and laughter of the children. Would you believe the big smiles came when Santa Clause arrived by helicopter to talk to each child and give them a present from the “North Pole”. At a meeting on December 7, the Clowns had “Jonti”

from the House of Magic in Bradenton give all the Clowns, including the ladies, a refresher course of new and the old standbys in magic. The resident magician helps the Clowns select magic, whether it is an effect, DVD, illusion, or book to learn and perform magic. As the Clowns closed out 2015, they held their Holiday Party at Heritage Oaks Country Club. It was a time to shake hands, give hugs and have fun as Clowns usually do with some new magic tricks. As usual, we had with us some professional clowns who have been a help to our Clown Unit in the past such as Jackie LeClare and Sid Sutlow. The party would not have been complete without our own Fain “Fano” Blevins providing our heart-warming entertainment with his singing, guitar playing and colorful hats. This is January and we have two big events. The first is Sunday, January 17 when the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa welcomes the East/ West Shriners Football Game players. It is an event that all Shriners should witness and support. The Clowns will be there to greet the players and entertain our children whom we work for throughout the year. You will enjoy watching the big and tough football players interacting with our children and how they can show so much kindness and admiration for them. The second event is the game which is Saturday, January 23 at 3:00 p.m. played at Tropicana Field. Remember our children in our Shriners Hospitals. 

ow! 2015 was a fast year and it was a great year for the Concert Band. Now we look forward to another great year in 2016. We played very well for our Salute to Veterans program, the FEZtival of Trees opening and our Nobles and Ladies Christmas Luncheon. We always sound better when we have a full band. Welcome back snowbirds. This month we are busy preparing two different Concert programs to be performed during the next four months. Our next Concert will be at Lake Pleasant RV

Park with a lively program. Last year they presented $1,600 to our hospital after the Concert. Our second Concert on March 11 will be a more formal program at Freedom Village, Bradenton. This is a performance we have looked forward to for several years. The Shriners who live there always give us a warm reception. We continue to invite all Shriner musicians to join us for rehearsals every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. May you have peace and joy with good health for 2016. 

I

wish to thank all that have supported me and the Kentucky Colonels for these past three years while I was Unit President. We have had some great times with lots of comradery, great food, wonderful entertainment and many good memories. The gavel will change hands and a new slate of officers will take place when they are installed at Sahib Shriners Installation on January 8, 2016. Our new slate of officers include President/Colonel Jim Fleming (Donna); Vice President/Colonel Bill Dunning (Glenda);

Secretary and Chaplain/Colonel Michael Olson (Judy); Treasurer/Colonel David Rowe; Immediate Past President/Colonel Robert L. “Bob” Rodd (Kathy). I do hope you will come and check out the Kentucky Colonels Unit. We meet the fourth Tuesday of the month at Tara Golf and Country Club. For more information, give me a call at (941) 776-0937 or speak to any of the new officers. I am sure Colonel Jim will have lots of ideas and activities for you and your lady to enjoy. 

Mariners by Ron LeVene, Commodore, phyneas@aol.com

H

ere is hoping that all of you and yours had a great Christmas season and wishing all of you a very happy and prosperous new year. Lots going on with the Mariners with a new organizational plan and a pushon to get more Mariners and mates involved in activity. Hopefully some of the new programs will increase interest in what we are doing and increase our event attendance. We are dusting off the boat, pressing up our uniforms and polishing the silverware in anticipation of a great new year in 2016. Attendance is down in most units and only you can help them out of the doldrums. I fully realize that we are all getting older and not able to get around like we used to, but ask for a ride or create a buddy system to come out and enjoy some fun. One of the major changes includes the Mariners’ mates on the float in future parades. Might as well get some pretty faces to accompany all of the not so pretty Mariners’ faces! (Except for mine, which is still gorgeous!) We will be having our Change of Command Ceremony and Dinner right near the date this is

published. The new officers are Commodore-elect Ron LeVene, Vice Commodore-elect Peter Fazio and Rear Commodore-elect Doug Jennings. Also elected were Ron Cota as Secretary and Treasurer and numerous other folks to fill critical vacancies. Thanks to all who volunteered. Meeting nights will continue as in the past, second Wednesday of each month with the exceptions being July and December. The locations may change, but be assured that you will get plenty of advance notification as to changes. The times for many events will be moved up to an earlier time to accommodate our members. Hopefully, we will be able to pull off one grand money raising event to help our treasury and to allow for a great time for all. This event will be open to all and will be planned to give an exceptional experience of fun and food for all. Remember you are the Shrine, without you there is no Shrine, so please support your temple in any way that you can and work for the betterment of our Fraternity. 

If you’re a noble of the Shrine searching for brotherhood and camaraderie, remember that Sahib Shrine is yours. Find your way and enjoy your membership. Sahib is always in need of assistance with duties, there are many activities to become involved with for your pleasure. Don’t travel alone, bring someone with you to travel the journey crossing the hot sands to the welcoming shade of our goodly temple.

Germany back in 1932. He came to the United States (New York City) to his uncle’s in 1954. His training in Germany was as an electrical engineer. The first thing that happened to him here was that he was drafted for two years. Working for the Air Force as a technician, he then went into the Gemini Program. In 1961 he met and married Marion. A hasty Las Vegas type wedding was vetoed by his father-in-law and he threw the happy couple a very big wedding. Their daughter was born in Wiesbaden. For several years they commuted between their home in Fairfax, Virginia and Sarasota. Then he discovered our Oriental Band and here is where they are staying until the end of time. 

t the very end of November (28), our happy little band of Chinese went down to the beautiful city of Venice for their after Thanksgiving Christmas Parade. We were glad we went as the weather was mild at 70 degrees and the crowd was large and very vocal. Love that kind of parade! The following Saturday night we did the Sarasota Holiday Parade and it was even better as far as large, very appreciative crowds are concerned. The weather was a little cooler, but it felt very pleasant after the warm summer we just came through. We have been fortunate to have welcomed three new members into our band these past two months. (Virginia); Masonic Representative & Patriotism Chairman Jim Fleming (Donna); Sergeant-At-Arms David Gardner (Sylvia); Master of Ceremonies Carl Anderson, PP (Linda); Chaplain John Sutterley, PP (Jane Smith). Also Phyllis Pittman volunteered to be our Assistant Secretary and Jean Campbell takes care of our roster. Our team of

elected and appointed officers took their oath of office and are now working together to make 2016 our best year. We wish to congratulate all those that have committed themselves to helping our Chapter continue to be one of the best. But we must remember it takes all of us to do that. With the support and efforts of all the members and ladies that attend our weekly gettogethers, as well as supporting other activities we put together, is what makes us a great club to belong to. If you have not been to the Cortez High Twelve Club yet, please add it to your “to do” list and find out what you have been missing. We meet each Monday from the first Monday of November through the last Monday of April, so come soon. We still meet at Duff’s Original Buffet at 6010 14th Street (Route 41) in Bradenton. We arrive between 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. to socialize. (Do . . .continued on page 35 

rammar, the first of the seven liberal arts and sciences, is introduced in the Fellow Craft Degree. Through the study of grammar we learn new words, like inculcate and superficies. Throughout Masonic ritual, we consider what familiar words should mean to us, words like prudence, wisdom, truth, virtue, ethics and justice. We consider more than just their grammatical definitions. The word “love”, in some variety, occurs frequently in our degrees. Brotherly Love is among the three tenets introduced in the Entered Apprentice Degree and reinforced in the Master Mason Degree. A Law of Love is espoused in the 18th Degree, Knight of Rose Croix. Love. What is it? The Greek language possesses six words to describe love: philautia, ludus, eros, pragma, philia, and agape. Philautia refers to self-love. A mature healthy self-esteem and personal awareness enables us to experience the other five kinds of love. An unhealthy variety of philautia results in narcissism. Ludus refers to playful love. We see it in the affection between young children or complete strangers getting to know each other. Ludus is often simply about laughter and enjoyment. Eros is characterized by passion and desire. Although associated with the initiation of lasting marital relationships, the Greeks knew it could be irrational and dangerous. The ancient Greeks

admonished us to learn to subdue such passions. Pragma refers to mature love, a love developed with the passage of time, steady commitment and mutual understanding. It describes the deliberate, intentional love of long married couples. Pragma love is more akin to “standing in the love” than “falling in love.” Philia love is friendship. Aristotle discusses friendship in his book “The Ethics” (see October 2014 edition for his three categories of friendships). Philia love describes the brotherly love and affection we enjoy as Brothers. It is the friendship we speak of in the first section of the Master Mason Degree. We pledge friendship and loyalty to each other. Our three legendary Grand Masters exemplify it. Aristotle argued that a just and flourishing society required many such friendships. Facebook friendships are probably not what he had in mind. Finally, agape is a selfless love. It is a love for all mankind, “the high, the low, the rich and the poor.” The Greek word agape was translated into Latin and then into English as “charity.” Charity is not an act of writing checks. It is an act of loving, of empathizing. In Buddhism, the idea of charity is expressed as “universal loving kindness.” When we commit to be charitable toward all mankind in the Entered Apprentice Degree, we commit to loving all mankind. Sar-I Court No. 79 - LOSNA by Mary Nell Fletcher, High Priestess, floridascarlett@yahoo.com

T

he holidays have come and gone. It was a busy time starting with the FEZtival of Trees during Thanksgiving weekend. LOS had three trees and two craft tables. Thanks to all of our ladies for all of their hard work. I got to help set up everything and then got put on bed rest for the rest of the week, which meant I not only missed the FEZtival of Trees, but missed one of my favorite things - the Venice Holiday Parade on Saturday. Our ladies represented us well on our Ladies Oriental Shrine float, which promotes “Save Your Tabs”, our special project for the repair of wheelchairs at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Tampa. Our clowns walked the parade and had a great time entertaining the kids. Thanks to Marylou Ellis for driving our float. Venice always loves the Shriners and we had a lot of fun. The month of December was busy moving our LOS files, court and ceremonial paraphernalia to the Scottish Rite Building getting ready for the New Year. Our December LOS meeting was a holiday party at

the Shrine with special holiday table decorations, entertainment, “Candy Cane March” and a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The rest of the month was filled with holiday parties, family, friends and too much good food. Time to make a few New Year’s resolutions - eat less, dance more and hit the gym. We had many petitions and voted in quite a few more ladies in the past few months; who will be joining our ranks at a Ceremonial during the Grand High Priestess’s visit January 15. All of our six units have been practicing their singing, marching, dancing and skits to get ready for Joy Moore’s, GHP visit. We will be having a 50’s/60’s Party for her on LeBarge on the 16th of January at 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. If you would like to join us to welcome our GHP and have a cruise on the bay, contact Carol Hart at (941) 284-8119. If you are interested in joining our group or learning more about the Ladies Oriental Shrine, contact me at (941) 807-4011 or at floridascarlett@yahoo.com. Have a Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year. 

Nyla Temple No. 152 by Katherine A. Rodd, Queen, roddbobkat@aol.com

W

e are now starting a new year. The year 2015 had many happy times for us. We started the year with the Official Visit of our Supreme Queen Marsha Sowers where we held a Ceremonial and banquet in her honor. We had a wonderful time at the East/West Shrine Game rooting for our favorite team and players. How nice it was talking to the Shrine kids at the game. The installation and crowning of our new Supreme Queen Sharon St. John was in June in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There was a lot of work and legislation and the good news was that we remain a Masonic related organization. As the year progressed, three new medallions for a million dollars each were dedicated at the Shriners Hospitals for Children by the Daughters of the Nile, bringing our total donations to the 22 Shriners Hospitals to over $55 million. What a momentous occasion it was when many from

the Daughters of the Nile with the Supreme Queen, attended the opening of the Montreal Shriners Hospital. We at Nyla Temple have been busy attending Masonic/ Shrine installations, etc. and were present at the Youth Group installations as well. What a pleasure it was to witness the Sarasota DeMolay Chapter receive their charter. Then, it was attending the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa and helping to release the butterflies at the conclusion of the celebration ceremonies. In November, we sponsored a tree at Sahib’s FEZtival of Trees and had a wonderful time decorating the tree with an old fashioned theme. The end of the year found us making plans for our next Official Visit from our current Supreme Queen and the Christening of our new members. We have been blessed with a beautiful year. From all of us at Nyla Temple…Happy New Year. 

n November 14, 2015, the Ladies of Sahib attended a fashion fundraising event organized by Lady Deanie Jacobi, Divan Ladies and others. The show was held at Sahib Shriners in which 138 Ladies attended. The models did an excellent job and it was a fun time. The Dress Barn hosted this event and dressed our models

in all their newest fashions. When all bills were paid, we made a whopping $2,000 profit which was presented to Ill. Sir Connie Jacobi, PP, at the 2015 December Ladies Luncheon. On Saturday, December 12 the Motor Corps and the Widows Sons joined veterans and family members to layout Christmas wreaths at the Sarasota National Cemetery. It was an impressive sight to see all of the motorcycles en route to the cemetery. The Motor Corps Christmas Party was also held at Sahib Shriners on December 12. We had a great choice of food entrees and the musical entertainment was provided by Kim Jenkins. Beatty Shipley was presented the plaque which had named Ken Shipley (Doc) as Motor Corps Member of the Year for 2015. Hospitality was great and we all were able to participate in the spirit of the holiday season. Raffle tickets on our Annual Booze Wagon give-away has begun. Each ticket provides the purchaser with a chance on a Harley Davidson wagon filled with a large selection of top-shelf liquor. If you do not already have your raffle tickets, see any member of the Motor Corps. Tickets will also be for sale at several Sahib activities, including monthly Pancake Breakfasts. Shriners Hospitals for Children Collection Boxes What are they? A plastic cube with a slot in the top. What are the boxes for? To help collect donations, money for our Shriners Hospitals for Children to help relieve the pressure from the Hospital Days Fund Drive. Where are the boxes to be? In any store or business, preferably near a cash register. Within eyesight of customers making it easy for them to put their change in the box. When are the boxes to be used? All year round, so our friends can donate small amounts of cash at any time. As most of you know, many businesses have some kind of collection boxes on their counters, so why not one of ours? Call the Sahib Office at 366-4449 if you can arrange a placement.

Pull Tabs for Shriners Hospitals

The Ladies of Sar-I Court started in 1992 collecting and donating aluminum pull-tabs to the “Wheel Chair Repair Fund.” As of March 31, 2015, they have collected 104,007 lbs., for a total of $54,753.66 for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on PULL TABS 1. Why not collect the whole can? Collecting complete cans would require a great deal more storage space. You should go ahead and recycle the rest of the can in the normal way, in the dumpster behind Sahib. 2. How many tabs in a pound? 1,267. 3. How many tabs will a gallon milk jug hold? About 5 pounds worth. 4. How does it work and where does the money go? The tabs are delivered to the Sahib office (or almost any Sahib club/unit location) and then taken to the recycling center. The money netted from recycling goes directly into the “Wheel Chair Repair Fund” at the Tampa Shriners Hospital for Children. Call:
