Metropolis Antik Kent Yerleşim Alanı

projenin asıl amacı, tiyatrodaki özgün bölümlerin erozyona ve selin yol açtığı bozulmalara karşı korunmasını sağlamaktır.

Akropolis Akropol, kent tarihinin araştırıldığı bir laboratuar olma özelliğini taşımaktadır. Burada yapılan sondajlar, insanların M.Ö. 3000 yıllarından itibaren burada yaşamaya başladıklarını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Kentin en kolay savunulacak tepesine kurulan yukarı kentin (Akropol) surları, Helenistik Döneme tarihlenir. Surlar iki kapı tarafından kesilmekte, doğudaki ana giriş kapısı kent merkezine, batıdaki kapı ise genellikle kaya mezarlarının bulunduğu mezarlık (Nekropol) alanına yönlenir.

Mozaikli Salon Tiyatronun doğu kenarına bitişik inşa edilen Roma dönemine ait geniş mekanın duvarlarında geometrik şekilli freskler, taban döşemesinde ise renkli taşlarla yapılmış iki panel mozaik ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Metropolis; a planned city 2500 years of age Metropolis was built as a planned city 2500 years ago on the hill between the villages of Yeniköy and Özbey. Despite this fact, the earliest ceramic findings in the city were dated back to the late geometric era. Excavation works that first started in 1989 at the Uyuzdere Anatanrıça Cult Cave by the Seljuk Museum presided over by Prof. Dr. Recep Meriç and spread to the center of the city in 1990 continues to this day without interruption. The majority of the digs in Metropolis are centered in and around the antique city. The 1st degree protected site in this area is approximately 779 thousand square meters. In addition, the Bademgediği Hill, a Bronze Age settlement area, is 6750 square meters and a late Neolithic Age settlement area, Dedecik Heybelitepe, is 800 square

meters. Important historical assets for Western Anatolia were unearthed in both of these regions. Most of the official buildings and the antique theatre in the Hellenistic Metropolis city were unearthed and restored. The theatre which hosted – and in fact still hosts- many events is a glorious building made of marble. The antique Bouleuterion (senate building), gallery, bath and gymnasium along with houses adorned with mosaics and shops which have been restored and opened for public visitation are other ruins that are worth seeing. The most recent project about the antique settlement is its inclusion to the ruin site list. Many of the infrastructural works on this subject have been finished. The importance of Metropolis lies in its establishment on the outskirts of a strategic hill which is located on the highway between İzmir and Ephesus. This small but important antique city which was ideal for export and import developed thanks to the fruitful plains around it and became
