10tH season Jim Crowley enters his 10th season as head coach and 14th overall year on the St. Bonaventure bench. Under Crowley’s guidance, the Bonnies have developed into a consistently competitive and hard-working unit on and off the court. His dedication and commitment to the program has established a strong foundation of future success for the Brown and White. Crowley’s passion for the game has proved to be contagious as his energy and desire to win is evident every time his team steps on the floor. Following last season’s all-time school record 23 wins, Crowley and the Bonnies have launched themselves into a promising position for the future. For his guidance in the 2008-09 season, Crowley was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, the first coach in program history to win the award. He also earned the New Balance - Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY), Women’s Division I Coach of the Year. Crowley has turned in his finest coaching performances on the sidelines in the last three seasons after directing the Bonnies to a combined 57 victories since the beginning of the 2006-07 campaign. The 2008-09 campaign was one of the most successful campaigns in St. Bonaventure history. The Bonnies exploded to a program-best 23 victories, breaking the previous season’s record by five. He guided the Brown and White to their first postseason appearance and highlighted it with two wins against Big East foe West Virginia and Big Ten contender Wisconsin. Early in the season, Crowley and the Bonnies beat #24/23 Michigan State, beating a ranked opponent for the third time in program history. After the victory, St. Bonaventure received a vote in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time. The team’s 15-5 start was the best start after 20 games since the program’s conception. The Bonnies won nine Atlantic 10 games in the 2008-09 season, including wins against Temple and Charlotte, setting a program record for most conference wins in a single season. The 55-52 victory against Temple was the first win against the Owls in seven years.

St. Bonaventure finished the season in a fourway tie for fourth place in the A-10 with its 9-5 conference record. Its seventh seed in the 2009 A-10 Tournament ties the 2007-08 club with the highest ranking in the tournament since 199697.

For the second consecutive year, Dana Mitchell earned a spot on the All-Conference second team, while Katelyn Murray earned a spot on the Academic All-Conference squad. Under the tutelage of Crowley, Mitchell has developed into one of the premier players in the conference. Mitchell’s growth during the last three seasons is apparent as she quickly fills St. Bonaventure record books. She now ranks fifth on the all-time Bona scoring chart with 1,463 career points following three seasons. She also is the eighth Bonnie to notch at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
