Ronald Reagan February 6, 1911–June 5, 2004 40th President 1981–1989 Born in Tampico, Illinois, Ronald Reagan became a successful entertainer and one of the most popular presidents of the United States. After working his way through Eureka College, he became a radio sports announcer. Later, a 1937 screen test identified Reagan’s talent. His voluminous acting career includes 53 films. While serving as president of the Screen Actors Guild, Ronald Reagan became involved in the controversial issue of communism in the film industry causing him to shift his political views from liberal to conservative. Reagan won the California Governor’s race in 1966 and again in 1970. On the Republican ticket, Ronald Reagan became the fortieth President with Texas Congressman George Bush as his Vice President. Sixty-nine days after inauguration, he would be even more popular. Ronald Reagan was steadfast in his determination to cut taxes and budget expenditures. His renewal of confidence in America was called the “Reagan Revolution.” In accordance with military defense, Reagan set out to eliminate international terrorism. He also negotiated an agreement with Soviet Union leaders to end the use of nuclear missiles. Reagan was still strongly against Communism and in favor amongst anti-Communism groups in Central America, Asia, and Africa. Ronald Reagan was a brilliant politician, obtaining support in Congress to strengthen the national economy, lessen the inflation rate, and strengthen the military strategically. During the Reagan Administration, America enjoyed the longest period of peacetime prosperity without recession. His two terms saw a boost in confidence, economic prosperity, and a stronger national defense. Ronald Reagan High School was the first high school in the nation named after our 40th President. It opened its doors in the fall of 1999. With cutting-edge technology and innovative programs, it is not unlike its namesake.

Dear Rattler Nation, It is an exhilarating time at Reagan High and the expectations are high as we enter the 2018 football season. The Rattlers have worked extremely hard to continue the Winning Tradition at Reagan. We are excited to see the fruits of our labor as we kick off the school year. The senior class is poised and ready to lead the Rattlers in District 27-6A. The community welcomes our new coaches and we know they are going to have a huge impact on our young men and women. The Coaching Staff and players would like to thank the families for getting these young men where they are today. We are very fortunate to work with these student-athletes on a daily basis. The Football Team would like to thank the Student Body for their enthusiasm and steady support of Reagan Athletics, it’s the best in the Great State of Texas. The three headed snake, consisting of Band, Cheer and Dance are irreplaceable under the FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. We would like to thank the N.E.I.S.D. Administrative Staff for embracing High School Athletics and allowing these student-athletes to feature their talents. The Coaches want to express our gratitude to Mrs. Shelton and her staff for supporting Athletics, as it enhances the overall educational process. Adversity is inevitable as we venture into this 2018 journey. The relationships forged from the Off-Season have strengthened team chemistry and cohesiveness, ensuring success. COACH HAMILTON
Rattler Coaching Staff COACH LYNDON HAMILTON
Head Football/Campus Coordinator Coach Hamilton graduated from Luling High School in 1994. Coach played football and baseball all four years for the Fighting Eagles, under Coach David Hill. He attended Texas A&M-Kingsville and received his BA in Kinesiology, while playing football for Coach Ron Harms. Coach Hamilton started his coaching career at Rosenberg Terry High School with Coach Tim Teykl and Allan Roberts. Coach Hamilton was in the Houston area for six years before relocating to San Antonio area with his family. Coach Hamilton spent seven years with Coach Neal Lahue at San Antonio Roosevelt prior to his arrival at Reagan. Coach Hamilton is entering his sixth season at Reagan and second year as Head Coach. Coach Hamilton was Coach David Wetzel’s defensive coordinator before his departure for Baylor University. Coach Hamilton is forever grateful to all of the men that have mentored him and paved the way for his growth. Coach Hamilton celebrated twenty years of marriage this summer with his high school sweet heart, D’Laine. Mrs. Hamilton teaches Kindergarten at Paschal Elementary and has been in Public Education for eleven years. The Hamilton’s have two sons Drew (17) and Bryce (14), both boys are heavily involved in sports and the outdoors. Coach Hamilton loves to spend time on the Guadalupe and in the brush chasing anything that is wild. He is an avid member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association. Coach Ham is an affiliate of the FCA and the GSAFCF. Coach has coached in the San Antonio All Star Game with the Reagan Staff and has had a blast with Faculty and Staff at Reagan High School. The past five years at Reagan have been the highlight of his career. Great young men at Reagan have allowed him to experience some lifelong memories, as he looks to build more with this 2018 Reagan Rattler Football Team.
COACH JEN MCHUGH
Head Cross Country and Girls Track/ Assistant Campus Coordinator Coach McHugh graduated from LaVernia High School in 1997 where she participated in cross country, track, and cheerleading. She attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned a B. A. in English and later earned a M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. Coach McHugh is USA Track and Field Certified and is a Professional Member of the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. Four of her track athletes since 2014 have been awarded the NSCA All-American Award. Coach McHugh began her career in education at Theodore Roosevelt High School in 2002—teaching English and coaching girls track. Coach McHugh enjoyed eight years at Roosevelt. In 2009 and 2010, her teams won the 25-6A Girls Track District Titles and were Regional Runners-Up. She coached 24 athletes to the 6A State Track Championship with four state medalists and one team placing eighth. In 2010, Coach McHugh made the move to Reagan High School where she has coached cross country and girls track and has taught English and physical education classes. At Reagan she has coached 26 athletes to the 6A State Track and Cross Country Championships, with three athletes earning state medals. Coach McHugh’s cross country teams have won eight 26-6A District Titles in a row, and her girls track team has won three consecutive District Championships fro m 2016 to 2018. In 2018 Coach McHugh’s girls made NEISD history as they celebrated an undefeated regular season in addition to District, Area, and Regional Championships. Coach McHugh has a genuine passion for her career, but undoubtedly, what defines her most is her family and faith. She has been married to her best friend, Troy, for 19 years and adores her eight-year-old daughter, Gabby. Gabby is a developing pole vaulter who loves dress up and zoo outings. Coach McHugh’s favorite moments include family road trips, days on the lake, and workouts with G. To have a family who shares her passion for building athletes and teaching young people about life through sports, is one of Coach McHugh’s greatest blessings. She is beyond grateful to be a member of the Reagan Nation and to serve the Reagan community.
