Eastern state visitors for perth cup & galaxy
Those industry participants that may have greyhounds entering their kennels for the Perth Cup and Galaxy heats, can you please remind the connections that their greyhounds must be UpToDate with their C5 vaccination boosters.
Galaxy Consolation
Just like last year there will be a consolation for the Galaxy.
This Consolation race will carry total stakes of $22,900 with $15,000 going to the winner.
Grading day change for Easter
Please note the Mandurah Tuesday 2 April meeting will be graded a day early in conjunction with the Northam Monday 1 April meeting on Wednesday 27 March.
Also the Cannington Wednesday 3 April meeting will be graded a day earlier on Thursday 28 March.
Note the Grading Office will be open for scratchings only on Good Friday.
The Sunchaser
The Sunchaser will be run on Thursday 18 April. It will carry total stakes of $22,900 with $15,000 going to the winner. (Note no Westchase bonus applies to this race) It will be an Open City Grade 520m event selected by Graders Discretion.
All greyhounds nominated for this race must be willing to be considered as Reserves in The Sandgroper. The final 2 reserves for The Sandgroper race will be selected by Graders Discretion from the 8 runners in the Consolation race.

GREYHOUND INJURY FULL RECOVERY SCHEME (GIFRS)
Under GIFRS the ownership of a greyhound sustaining an eligible injury at a race meeting, or official trial, is transferred to RWWA’s Greyhounds as Pets (GAP) program, following which the injured greyhound is transported to emergency care and all associated costs of surgery and rehabilitation are covered by RWWA. If suitable, the greyhound will then be rehomed post recovery through GAP’s standard processes. To enter this scheme the managing owner is required to make a co-contribution of $250. This scheme complements the Greyhound Injury Surgery Rebate (GISR), where RWWA offers a financial contribution, for eligible cases, to help the trainer and owner pay for the costs of veterinary care and rehabilitation.

BREEDING UNIT SCAM ALERT

Greyhound’s Australasia (GA) is aware of attempts being made online to deceive participants into purchasing breeding units (frozen semen vials) that either do not exist or are not genuine.
Greyhound participants should be vigilant when answering any ‘for sale’ or ‘wanted’ advertisements on wellknown Greyhound websites or social media forums.
Greyhound participants should not transfer any funds or provide details of breeding units, without confirming the identity and legitimacy of the individuals they are dealing with.
GA can be contacted to confirm the authenticity of any breeding unit and greyhound participants are encouraged to utilise this service before completing any transaction.
Greyhound participants can also contact their local Controlling Body to confirm if the individual they are dealing with is legitimate and are encouraged to report any activity that they believe is suspicious.
Advertisers should also be mindful of the amount of information that is disclosed about breeding units, on public websites or social media channels.
GA is aware of cases where purchasers have struggled or been unable to recover money when they have been defrauded. These cases have been referred to industry regulators and federal authorities.
GA also recommends reporting suspicious activity to federal authorities via the Scamwatch website www.scamwatch.gov.au

All Qualifying Trials are conducted prior to the first race at the respective race meetings, unless otherwise advertised. The number of Qualifying Trials drawn may vary depending on the number of races drawn and the number of spare kennel bays.
Should nomination numbers warrant, consideration may be given to conducting trials on the backup days of Thursday (Mandurah) and Saturday (Cannington) utilizing surplus nominations. Alternatively a stand-alone Qualifying Trial session may be considered.
