IN’ UTES POLISH UP YOUR PISTONS AND TUNE UP YOUR TUXEDO AS QUEENSLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL’S YOU BEAUT CUTE UTE MUSTER CLUSTER BIG BAND BLOCKBUSTER IS HEADING YOUR WAY! Country star Troy Cassar-Daley has a big secret – he likes to swing! The popular Golden Guitar winner is dusting off his tuxedo and breaking out the hair oil for Swingin’ Utes, a unique QMF event bound for Roma and Mount Isa. In the afternoon, local singers and musicians – younger and older, string ensembles, big bands, jazz, punk and Indigenous dancers showcase their talents. There will be food and drink stalls and roving entertainment for all the community. In the evening, Troy, in his familiar country clobber, together with the Queensland Youth Orchestra’s Big Band, kicks off proceedings with a collection of his best known country classics. When he heads off stage

to change into his top gear, the 18 piece QYO Big Band loads up into the Utes to swing that big band thing.

The tuxedo tuned Cassar-Daley returns and together with the QYO Big Band they launch into Fly Me to the Moon and take us for a cool, swing along Route 66 and many more classic swing and jazz standards.

Complete with a ‘Show & Shine,’ market stalls and an abundance of local talent, this is a country carnival with a smoother than smooth difference, showing a much-loved country star in an entirely new spotlight. It’s what QMF does best!

Swingin’ Utes is part of Mount Isa’s 90th birthday celebrations.
