Welcome To Country Mia Haylock, Jocelyn Haylock

Inspired by the natural elements that have shaped Quilpie over many thousands of years, brief glimpses of natural and human histories materialise before us. Topology’s audacious score and musical virtuosity carries us through great imaginative leaps that see events over many millennia blur together, miraculously sharing both

time and space for the duration of the concert. Ancient rains carve out the shape of the Bulloo River and a flourishing underwater ecosystem springs to life before our eyes. Meanwhile, local fishermen and women share the riverbank with a flock of pelicans; they catch golden perch and yabby’s side by side.

An archaeological dig is interrupted, the scientists scattering, as a living, breathing diprotodon lumbers into the space. Echoes in the Dust employs rich composition, worldbuilding sound design and inventive visual theatre performance to pay tribute to the power and majesty of the natural world, in a place where time stands still. Matt Seery, Writer & Director
