W grupie chorych obciążonych gruźlicą odsetek powikłań pooperacyjnych wynosił 52% w porównaniu do 29% w grupie bez cech gruźlicy. Uzyskano odpowiednio 67,7% i 77% wyleczeń.
The coexistence of tuberculosis statistically significantly influenced the morbidity rate (p=0.0446). In the patients with tuberculosis, the morbidity rate was 52% compared to 29% in the patients without tbc. The complete cure and mortality rates were 67.7%; 77% and 17%; 4.5%, respectively, but the differences were not statistically significant. The morbidity rate was significantly higher in the group of patients operated as emergency cases (83%) than in the patients subjected to surgery on a scheduled basis (37.6%) (p=0.0189). However, the mode of selection did not significantly affect the final results of treatment. Table 13 presents the morbidity rate related to the range of resection. The highest morbidity rate was found among the patients after pneumonectomy (86.7%). The complications occurred more frequently after anatomical (44%) than after non-anatomical resections (34.6%). However this difference was not statistically significant (p>0.05).
