Cut L#t Bottom Cut (2) from 1 x 8 lumber 7.25” x 18.5”
Long Sides Cut (6) from 1 x 4 lumber 3.5” x 20”
Short Sides Cut (6) from 1 x 4 lumber 3.5” x 14.5”

1. Glue the cut and sanded 1x8 Bottom pieces together to form the bottom of the crate. You could also attach the boards together with a Kreg Jig or pre-‐drilled pocket holes and screws.
2. Attach the short sides Rirst by nailing to the bottom ends of the crate.
3. Attach the long sides in the same fashion. You are now ready to attach the four corner posts.

4. Nail the corner posts with a single nail (as shown) from each side board.
5. Attach the short top side boards Rlush with the top and the sides of the corner posts by nailing.
6. Attach the long sides so they are Rlush with the top of the corner posts and the ends of the short sides.

7. Attach the middle short sides by nailing so they are Rlush with the edge of the corner posts. 8. Nail to the post so there is an equal gap between the top and bottom board.
9. Attach the long sides in the same fashion.
If you are using rope handles drill holes in the ends of the short boards as shown. If you want your crate to roll then add caster wheels to the bottom corners. Paint or Rinish as desired.... enjoy!! © Post Road Vintage
This crate was finished with my favorite ‘wood aging’ mixture. To make this mixture let steel wool soak in a jar of vinegar for approximately one week. This will make a rusty colored ‘stain’. Apply this to your raw wood with a rag. After dried the wood will take on an old ‘barn wood’ feel. I then dry brushed Annie Sloan Chalk paint, equal parts Old White and French Linen on top. I then sealed the piece with clear wax and a small amount of dark wax rubbed in too.
