 H? We focus on ‘HOME”. We are

inspired by yesterday, farmhouse beauty, simplicity, and the promise of tomorrow. We love to celebrate creativity, home, and family. We believe joy can be found in the simple and small things all around us. Being outdoors, or creating a space which is uniquely your style in your home can have such an impact on one’s spirit. Happiness can mean a warm home, a hot meal, and family and friends all together. Happiness can mean snuggled up with electronics turned off (unless you’re reading this digitally) ;) Happiness is finding inspiration and motivation to actually do or try something new, which may awake a new passion inside. Happiness is home Homebound Magazine was created by Post Road Vintage and began as a free quarterly e-zine. It has since expanded into a full digital and print magazine which is published six times per year..

I personally love that this worn and imperfect look is so currently in. But regardless of how trends come and go you can always embrace this look in your home as long as it speaks to your heart. There are quite a few people whom I look up to for inspiration and creative ideas in this style. Courtney Milton from French Country Cottage is one of those people. She is fearless when it comes to blending old and new. And the beautiful antique pieces really pop in her bright and sunny California home. There are so few ‘rules’ for this style. That is one of the reasons I love it so. Use what you love and don’t worry about everything being perfect. A light airy backdrop really suits this look, but go crazy and experiment with darker and more rustic walls if that is where you’re heart is at. Remember that it’s all about creating a space which makes you 100% comfy and happy!

add a handmade t'ch

There is nothing which makes your home more you and more unique than filling it with things you have made with love, by your own hands. It need not be ‘perfect’ or ‘professional quality’ to be beautiful. Give yourself the gift of TIME to create something. These are curtain panels I repurposed and sewed by hand from an antique coverlet. In my hammock, under the apple tree I stitched away. Of course there are always ‘more productive’ ways to spend our time. But if it is something you thoroughly enjoy then by all means, get to it! I call it medicine for the soul.

S Sst p.10

With the increasing popularity of the shabby rustic style it is easier and easier to find pieces to adorn your home in the conventional, big box store ways. And I am not against finding things in this manner. But there is nothing quite like the thrill of the hunt in searching for an antique or vintage piece. What you may find may be nothing like what you were envisioning! I often discover that if I give myself the time and patience to fill my home with the things I really love, I will be rewarded with a result far exceeding my original vision. I think this is so true in decorating as well as life. It is so good to dream, yet practice patience and contentment at the same time. It’s a journey, not a sprint! Also, when you are able to it can be really fun to purchase beautiful antiques and handmade items from individual artists who are making a living for themselves. Nobody needs to tell you that your support can literally mean the world to these people.

function ma"ers

As important as it is to be surrounded by things which are beautiful to you, it is equally important for your space to flow and function. While trying to embrace the ‘less is more’ I have been working to pair down my collections and have less clutter around to clean and organize. One trick I have learned which works really well is to ask myself, “does this bless me and my family?” In other words, do I love it so much that I can’t imagine parting with it? This is giving yourself permission to change your styles and collections with time and pass some of your things on to others who can use and appreciate them more. I really admire Janet Coon from ShabbyFufu.com for her beautifully romantic and shabby styled home while keeping it light, bright, and uncluttered.

an a$)t in us all...

There is nothing which makes me cringe more than when I hear someone say, “I’m not creative.” No, you may have simply been taking a break from using your creative muscles, but even more likely is that your creativity can be found in an unlikely place. Instead of trying to change yourself, why not embrace yourself? Recognize your strengths and use them. And use these strengths to learn new and exciting things. Not because you’re less than, but because you are worth it. Somedays it feels so discouraging, like we will never learn and do all that we want to, and this is probably true. But the reason is that other exciting things, which we may not even be able to imagine yet may show up to take their place. I suggest keeping a journal to help you remain open to life and creativities’ possibilities. The surprises are the best part of this crazy journey!
