Murano – La lavorazione del Vetro La lavorazione del vetro di Murano, come da antiche tradizioni, è un processo che si ottiene mediante la fusione di sabbie silicee. Al contrario di altre lavorazioni (es. piombico inglese), il vetro tipico di Murano aggiunge la soda per consentire la fusione a temperature minori dando la possibilità di eseguire lavorazioni a caldo più complesse e artistiche (peculiarità del vetro muranese e veneziano). Tra le diverse tecniche di lavorazione del vetro, quelle che Ines Bijoux adotta per la creazione dei suoi gioielli e delle varie perle sono: la Murrina, le Perle Vitree e a Lume. Murrina: Tecnica antichissima, antecedente alla soffiatura, è stata recuperata nel XIX secolo dopo quasi duemila annidi inutilizzo. Consiste nella fusione al calore del forno di tessere monocrome o di sezioni di canna vitrea policroma secondo un disegno previsto, così da ottenere un tessuto vitreo coloratissimo. Perle Vitree: Le più semplici sono le “conterie”: perline arrotondate o a spigolo vivo, ottenute sezionando tubicini forati tirati in fornace per una lunghezza di decine di metri. La manualità si esalta nella cosiddetta lavorazione a “lume”: una canna vitrea non forata viene ammorbidita dal calore del fuoco che fuoriesce da un cannello, in seguito viene avvolta intorno a un tubicino metallico, in modo da conferire alla perla la forma desiderata e infine decorata con vetro policromo. Lavoro a lume: Si esegue utilizzando come semilavorato una canna vitrea colorata ammorbidita con il fuoco da un cannello. Permette di realizzare oggetti in qualsiasi forma si desideri. Murano – the art of glass making The workmanship of Murano glass is a process achieved using the ancient tradition of fusing siliceous sand. In contrast to other processes (e.g. English lead glass), soda is used to allow fusion at lower temperatures, making it possible to achieve the more complex and artistic results that Murano and Venetian Glass are renowned for. Of the various glass working techniques, those chosen by Ines Bijoux to use in the creation of their jewellery are Murrina glass and lampwork beads. Murrina: This ancient art, which predates glass-blowing, was rediscovered in XIX century after almost two thousand years of disuse. Monochrome tiles or polychrome glass rods are fused in the heat of the furnace in a specific pattern to produce a highly coloured glass weave. Glass Beads: The simplest are the ‘conterie’: rounded or angular beads made using sections of perforated rods which are stretched in the furnace to a length of several tens of meters. A high degree of manual dexterity is required in the so-called lampworking; an unperforated glass rod is softened in the heat of a blow torch, then wrapped around a smaller metal rod to obtain the desired shape and finally decorated in polychrome glass. Lampwork: Using a semi-coloured glass rod softened in the heat of a blow torch allows you to make objects in whatever shape desired.
