...their sets effortlessly combine original songs and seriously reinvigorated classics stamped with their own characteristic identity.

Combining their original material with songs by the likes of Jacques Brel, Leonard Cohen & Bertolt Brecht, they provide an intoxicating & intimate musical experience.

Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein is well into his 4th decade as a professional guitar player and has had an amazing career. From defining the horror punk genre with The Misfits in the 80s to forming Gorgeous Frankenstein in the 2000s right up to his latest project; Doyle, who will be hitting The Old Firestation in Bournemouth on July 4th, with support from Dorset Music faves Al B Damned. Pip Sickness catches up with the punk legend to chew the fat ahead of the UK leg of his tour. Doyle has been in various bands for quite some time now and after spending a few days researching interviews I’ve noticed a trend that the questions all seem to be the same asking about the inevitable Misfits reunion questions, being Vegan, staying in shape etc etc. so as there are so many easily available answers to those questions I thought I’d ask you some more random questions. Something Mr Frankenstein was more than happy to accomodate. You and Alex (Story - vocals) are the powerhouses behind the band - How did you and Alex first meet? Do you remember your first impressions of each other? I had put an ad out for singers in the East Coast rocker and I think it was called Revolver in Los Angeles and his cd was the one of the first to come in and the only one I listen to from start to finish… It was all cancer slug songs I believe like 19 songs… All great… The first time I’ve ever met him in person I was doing a Danzig/Doyle show in Houston or something and he was crowd surfing and I noticed him and pointed at him and then he went insane… Great memory… You guys have worked closely for a while now – what is one habit the other has that drives you nuts?

He don’t drive me nuts at all… We get along fucking great… We’re both retarded stupid Larry David type gorillas…

When you’re not touring or writing how do you unwind? What hobby’s or interests do you have outside of music?

How do you stave off the inevitable bickering that You never get to unwind… You have to do all grows from working closely with someone for a your business and take care of all your shit and long period of time? do everything you couldn’t do because you were on tour… So by the time you get that I don’t like to work with people I don’t like so I done… You jumping on the next-tour... don’t ,that would be a negative… And I don’t do negatives…

my t u c a n n o g t o n I’m y. s u b “ I’m too fucking ng out and have lunch…” workout off to go ha Who would you have play you in a Hollywood

You’ve been on an extended tour again with the band following the release of “Doyle II: As We Die” what would your tour survival guide essentials be? Is there a home comfort you wouldn’t be without?

My tour survival guide would be sleep a lot, work out a lot, Drink a gallon or 2 gallons of water a day,eat a lot, and just keep going… When I wake up in the morning until the time I go to bed ,I am going nonstop… So when I Come to town, my friends there are like,” hey let’s go out for lunch let’s do this let’s do that”” let’s hang out…”

movie version of your life? Danny DiVito ov cawce …

What would you say is your proudest achievement so far? Besides my children OV CAWCE … The two Doyle albums Abominator and Doyle II As We Die... Inversely what would you say is your biggest regret in life?

This isn’t the music hang out and have a good Not going back to hug my dad and say goodbye time… This is the music fucking business… It’s when I left for tour.. their party day of the week… And I’m at work… So I usually throw them off the bus when I want to go to bed… Quickfire questions: I’m too fucking busy. I’m not gonna cut my workout off to go hang out and have lunch… My day is timed and I can’t fuck it up…. The bus is the home…

Cats or Dogs? Yes please Childhood fear? I have no memory Iron Maiden or Metallica? Both Sun or snow? Sun Big city or countryside? Both

If you could pick any band in the world, current or defunct, to join (not one you have already been Bournemouth is a very multicultural town with part of) who would it be and why? people from all walks of life from all over the world. For anyone reading this interview what I can’t pick any bands… I can only play the songs I life advice have you been given that has stayed write and the songs I know… with you that you would pass on? You have mentioned in several interviews I’ve read that you never watch your support acts. Is there any reason for that?

Sometimes you got to ask yourself… Is the fucking you’re getting worth the fucking you’re getting?

Yes because I’m clowning… It takes me 3 to 4 Catch DOYLE At The Old Firestation in hours a day to get show ready and that is not including my workouts or eating… When I met my Bournemouth on July 4th girlfriend Alissa White-Gluz,her band was opening on a Danzig/Doyle tour… I didn’t even watch her… I didn’t have time… But I heard her singing and it blew my mind… As it always does…

Gigs of the Month Fri 1 Jun 20:00: Mr Kyps, Poole :Black Water County + Trav Cats

www.rock-regeneration.co.uk MARBLE TIDES

EP LAUNCH AT MR KYPS Tonight we are at Mr Kyps in Poole to see the birth of yet another brand new local band. The band are ‘Marble Tides’ and they feature two former members of the now defunct ‘Greyside’,the five piece band featuring Brandon Moss (Vocals), Sam Rawlings (Drums), Zac Thompson (Guitar), Luke Green (Guitar) and Gemma Halliday(Bass/ Vocals) bring together an all new exciting line-up. The band have just released their debut single ‘Another Dream Dies’ and from this they show plenty of potential and bring together plenty of quality ingredients. It is finally time for Marble Tides to take to the stage the lights dim and the guitarists enter to provide some instrumental noodling before they are joined by the rhythm section and lead singer Brandon enters to massive cheers from the crowd. The kick off with “Little Lies” and from the start you can tell that this band have put in some serious effort putting

this show together as there is plenty of confidence and they are all note perfect. The sound is big and bold with lovely combined melodic guitars which sincerely compliment Brandon’s big and varied vocals. The tunes have a very intimate personal feel and are sung right from the heart especially the beautiful “Land & Sea” which Brandon dedicated to someone special in the audience. They lyrics were deep, moving and meaningful with a Brandon actually wiping his own tears from his eyes at one point. The new single “Another Dream Dies’ is a very catchy slice of radio friendly rock which clearly that these guys even in this early stage know how to create good relevant music. The distinctive twin guitars and spot on rhythms sound substantial in this old hall and the band leave the stage with the crowd wanting more. A fantastic debut one of the best I have seen from a new band, let hope they can keep up this high momentum and really make things happen.
