My School (Year 9) Ibaialde School 2009/2010

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 homework but they’re good. My favourite teacher at Ibaialde was Juantxo Pagola a teacher of English. He was my teacher in 1st ESO. He’s very funny and teaches English very well. I learnt a lot with him but he went to another High School. And other favourite teacher was Pilar, she was my teacher of Spanish Language in 1st ESO too and she taught me very well, well I like Spanish Language too.

IBAIALDE, My School Hello!! I’m going to tell you about my high school. It’s called Ibaialde. Ibaialde is a public school and it’s in Burlada, my town. Burlada is near Pamplona, the Capital of Navarre. Most of students who go to Ibaialde are from Burlada and Villava but some students are from other small villages. The people that aren’t from Burlada or Villava come by bus. Ibaialde has a very good bus service. The people from Villava and Burlada come on foot because it’s near.

But in this High School there aren’t a lot of excursions and I don’t like it because we go a lot of days to the school and the excursions are very little and with very little hours because they aren’t one day long, only a few hours.

Ibaialde is a big school. The high school is for girls and boys. It’s divided in 2 buildings, one foro students of ESO, and I am here. ESO is from 12 to 16 years old and the other buildings is for Bachillerato and Vocational Studies, from 16 to 18 years old. In Vocational Studies there some students studying to be Cooks, Hairdressers...

The High School hasn’t got a sports team but sometimes it participates in some contests. I think Ibaialde is a very good High School. Do you like it? Edurne Urricelqui

The timetable at Ibaialde is from 8:30 to 14:30. They are very good hours because in the afternoon we can do other activities, sports, academies... or watch TV but ALWAYS the homework. At 11:15 we have a break and it’s from 11:15 to 11:45, it’s short because we have 6 hours to study and only 30 minutes for the break. The subjects at Ibaialde in ESO are Maths, Spanish Language, Basque, French, English, P.E, Religion, Natural Science, Educational Activities, Music and art. The best subject for me is P.E. because I relax in this class and the worst for me are Maths and Art. The teachers and students of Ibaialde are very good. There are a lot from Villava or other villages. The teachers give us a lot of -1-

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 activities, like football, swimming, table tennis, classes of English, maths…

My school In my school there are a lot of people. All the people are in three floors. I’m going to explain how the classes are divided.

I like the installations and the timetable very much. It could be better, but it is good like that. Amaia Garacochea

On the first floor there are the classes of the students of 4th ESO –years 7 to 10-. Also there is a music room, the library, the caretakers lodge in which there are four or five porters who can assist you if you have a problem. And there is the telephone, because sometimes people are ill and there you can phone home. And near the workshops of the school, there is a small gym. And it has its own changing rooms. It is small gym to do some activities with the teacher of PE.

My school I go to a public school called Ibaialde. Ibaialde is a high school in Burlada, a village in Navarra, in the north of Spain.

On the second floor there is the changing room for the girls and on the other floor there is the changing room for boys and in it you have toilets.

The students of Ibaialde are from Burlada, Villava and villages near them. In Ibaialde the classes start at 8:30 and end at 14:30. The classes are 55´ long and we have one break of half of an hour.

On the second floor you can see a lot of rooms. For example the departments of all the teachers, and the rooms of 3rd ESO students. Also there are other special classes for drawing and sometimes you go there in the class of plastic or drawing. I like these classes because you can relax more than in the others.

We have eleven subjects: Maths, religion, natural sciences, Basque. Language, P.E, English, social science, music, plastics and C.E. Religion and C.E are only once a week.

On the third floor there are the classes of first and second ESO students. They have to walk much every day to go to their rooms. There are also rooms for older students, they are students of the “Preparatorio”, they are people who want to do vocational studies. On all the floors there are toilets. The playground is really big and this is very good for playing, because there is a football pitch and also a basket court and the rest is for relaxing. There is in at the beginning of the playground a small shop to buy sweets.

For P.E we have one gym inside the school and one sports centre, sometimes we also use the playground, but only sometimes.

The timetable of Ibaialde’s high school is very good because we only have classes from half past eight to half past two, and in the afternoon you can do some extra

Naiara Palomo

We, the students and the teachers all the years, organize one festival at Christmas where the students dance, sing and play their musical instruments, but not only the students take part, the teachers that are in the chorus also sing in this festival. At the end the jury decides the winners of the festival and they receive their prizes.

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 My School

My School

My school is Ibaialde. It is a public school situated in Burlada and next to Villava, in Navarre and in the north of Spain. It’s a high school in which we study from 1st of ESO to 4th and two years of Bachillerato (from year 7 though 12).

I study at Ibaialde high school, it’s public. Ibaialde is in Burlada, a village near Pamplona, but also not all the people are from Burlada, many of them are from Villava, Arre , Huarte,...

I begin classes at eight thirty in the morning and I finish at half past two. We have six lessons of fifty minutes each one and a brief break of thirty minutes. I think that my favourite day of school could be Friday. Although the three first classes can be a bit boring because they are mathematics, biological sciences and language, after the break I have physical education, in which I (and most of the people) have fun, music, in which we sometimes relax with classical music and English that’s not bad at all and normally is interesting. Another good thing is that we have not got classes in the afternoon and we can make that we want (apart from doing our homework).

I start classes at 8:30 and finish at 2:30, we have a break of thirty minutes but it’s not enough. I have to go on foot because I live very near but I arrive home very tired!! My school is not very big and it’s very old. But I like very much the Christmas Festivals. It’s the best Christmas Festival of the world. This is my best memory of my junior days in Ibaialde. All the people can participate but is difficult to win because there are many competitors, many people of Ibaialde dance very well. It’s very funny to participate because all the people collaborate and it’s very interesting, most of the festival is organized by the students!!

Maybe you would like to know some more about Ibaialde. Well, I think the best thing that it has is that we haven’t got class in the afternoon as I have said before. I know that we haven’t got the best installations but we have two informatics rooms, an audiovisual room, a science laboratory, a gym and some other ones so it’s another good point of my institute.

Last year my friend Maider and I won and today I remember the emotion that I felt! In the afternoons I also have to study and do the homework because we have very demanding teachers. My favourite subjects are religion and PE, because in religion we have a good time ! My teacher of religion is Juanjo, he is my favourite teacher. I like religion and PE because are different subjects. We talk about many things and we do many dynamic activities , see videos,...

On the other hand I think the worst thing could be that we have not got many trips (last year, for example, we had two or three) in all the year so I would change It. And, well, as you can see, that’s my high school.

I don’t like Basque, it is the second language of Navarre and it’s optional. I don’t like it because I’m bored in this class and because I don’t like this language very much.

Iosu Rodríguez

And that’s all, this is my school, it’s a normal school but at the same time it is very different to others!! Idoia Iriarte -3-

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 IBAIALDE, My School

My School

Hello, my name is Alberto Aragón, I study at IES Ibaialde and I’m going to talk about It. It is in Burlada, near Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, in the north of Spain.

I go to Ibaialde’s high school that is a situated in the north of Spain. This high school is public because we don’t have to pay money and Navarra’s Government pays it. I love my school because I go with all my friends, you can learn a lot if you want and because there all is good. Well not all, but almost all. In some aspects I don’t like my school because I am a teenager and I don’t like studying and doing the homework, but I have to do it. We always start classes at 8:30. I go to the high school on foot with my friends, I like doing this very much because we can talk about our things.

We start classes at 8:30AM, and we finish them at 2:30PM. We have six classes and one break in the middle. The classes are fifty five minutes long and the break is thirty minutes 11:15AM to 11:45AM, It is a short time! I think that we need more time for the break because it time passes very fast, and we have to relax, because the classes are very tiring and long..

We always have three classes, then the break and finally the other three classes. I like this timetable because you can do the things that you really like in the afternoon. And this is something about my high school, maybe you can learn more about it by reading the compositions of my partners!

All the teachers give us a lot of homework almost every day. All of us have to be hardworking people, because of the homework. I think that it is unfair because we study in the institute 6 hours more or less and then we arrive home and we have to study (or do homework) 2 hours or more. I think that it is too much! I will never understand it.

Nerea Buldain

All the people have forgotten the homework at least once, and they make funny excuses. I think that once is not important but a lot of times is a very big problem! Good bye!

Alberto Aragón

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 classrooms are the classrooms of the students, they are big and you have all the necessary things to study.

My School Hello! I’m going to describe for you something about Ibaialde high school, our school.

There are also other things that make Ibaialde a great school!!!! Do you like Ibaialde school? Marianela Mariño

It is situated approximately in the center of Navarre in Spain, near Pamplona the most important city in Navarre.

My School My name is Marina I am 14 and I live in Burlada a small city near Pamplona, the capital of Navarre in the north of Spain.

The best thing I like of Ibaialde high school is the timetable. We start to study at 8:30 and we finish at 14:30 so we have during the day six classes each one of 55 minutes.

As I have said I am 14 so I am studying 3º of ESO at Ibaialde high school, Ibaialde is situated in Burlada, so it only takes me some minutes to arrive. I always go to school with my friends, it is really entertaining, and we talk all the way.

We have three classes before the break which we starts at 11:15, then we have only 30 minutes to speak with our friends, eat our snack, in general the students always bring their sandwiches of something they love!! There are people that also spend this time with sports, some play football in the football court or some prefer to do it in other places, others play basketball and some also play pelota. So this is the short time that we have for snack .It’s one thing that probably we have to change, I think we need more time!!

Ibaialde is quite big, it is formed by two buildings, one for students from 12 to 16 who are studying in secondary and the other is for bachiller. It has an audiovisual room, 2 computer rooms, laboratories, sports complex… etc, all of them in the secondary building because I haven’t been in the other building. All the students have the same timetable, we start at half past eight in the morning and we finish at half past two, finally we never have classes in the afternoon.

After the break we have the last 3 hours of classes and we can go home. I like this timetable because in the afternoon we have time to study or to do the things that we like to do.

The school has too extra activities like a literary contest that is done all the years, and the Christmas festival. Sometimes we do school trips, but only sometimes. The thing I don’t like about the school is that we hardly ever realize trips, for example we are now in 3º ESO and we have gone to only one place at the and of the course and during it we only have 2 or 3 concerts.

Ibailde’s building is another thing that is good, it is big and here we have a lot of classrooms and all of them are very tidy, for example we have a gym, a big sport center, a playground in which we can do any activities for P.E, we also have laboratories, workshops, a library in which students can do their homework in a good place, there are also teachers’ rooms, each one divided according to the different subjects. Here the teachers discuss about their own subject. There is also a place in which you can make photocopies, and the most important

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 My School

My School

My school’s name is Ibaialde and it is located in the centre of Navarre.

Hi! I’m going to tell you about my high school called Ibaialde.

I have chosen two main ideas to tell you about it. -The schedule: We have the same schedule along all the week. We start the classes at 8.30 in the morning. Each class lasts 55 minutes. After three classes we have a little break of 30 minutes, from 11.15 to 11.45. After that we have another three classes until 14.30 when we return back home. The timetable allows us to be off all the afternoon.

Ibaialde is a high school in Burlada, near Pamplona. There are two different buildings, one for the students from twelve to sixteen and the other for Bachiller and F.P. The ages normally go from sixteen to eighteen.

Some people have extracurricular activities such as music, sports, academies...

In the second building there are some people who study to be cooks, hairdressers, ...

From my point of view it is wonderful because we have all the afternoon for our own things. On the other hand, we have to get up very early and in the first class some people fall asleep on the desk.

We only have classes in the morning from half past eight to half past two, we have all the afternoon free, but in the afternoon I do a lot of things.

- The bilingual option. Three years ago the students of 1st ESO (that are now in 3rd ESO) started the first bilingual group at Ibaialde. It is working perfectly, so each year there is one group more. In these classes there are around twenty people, the students are divided into two classes. We have a higher level of English and we also study Social Sciences in English. For that reason we are together in those classes.

I think that the normal classrooms in Ibaialde should have more decorations because are boring. They only have windows, chairs, tables and a blackboard. At Christmas we do a festival. The students of Ibaialde every year like to make a magazine with information about the school, the name of the magazine is Ibaialde News. This year I will participate.

All the students of 6th of primary can make the exam to form another bilingual group. It is a wonderful opportunity!

I like Ibaialde but I would like it more if we had more excursions.

In my opinion this has been a very good idea because we learn a lot in these classes.

Do you like my high school? Noelia Pérez

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 Ibaialde's the best institute in the world I wouldn't change it with any other one because I like it a lot.

My School I’m a student at Ibaialde High school. Now I'm going to tell you many things of my institute, the best in the world.

Maider Eguilaz My School

My school is in Burlada, a village near Villava, my city, so I always good on foot with my friends Naiara and Idoia and I can do it in 15 minutes more or less.

My school is Ibaialde, in Burlada near Pamplona. Ibaialde is big, there are a lot of classes. Up, on the 3rd floor there are the classrooms of first and second ESO, and there is also the computers room. And on the first floor there are the second of ESO classrooms and the departments for the subjects, and there are also some laboratories and the toilets.

Everyday we start the lessons at eight thirty and after three lessons we have, at quarter past eleven, the break. I think that it’s very short, only 30 minutes. Don't do you think so? In this time I eat my snack with my friends, It is time to relax!! After it we have three lessons more and then, at half past two, we finish and go home.

Out of the school there is a small garden with some trees. But there is also a big gym and inside the school there is a small gym. Now we are studying in 3rd ESO. I'm in 3rdC with some of my second level classmates; for example Lucia, Ruben, Maitane, Josune, Leire, Gorka,Claudia, Yaiza... They are a very good classmates but in this year there are some new people and they are very nice too.

In my opinion it’s is a very good timetable because we have only in the morning and in the afternoon we can do our hobbies or the homework, stay with friends... In Ibaialde there are two buildings one of them for people between 16 and 18 years old in which study the people who are doing Bachiller or Vocational Studies then the second building is the one where I'm studying. People who are in this building are between 12 and 16 years old. I'm 14 so I am in the third level of ESO. In this building there are laboratories, many classrooms, a gym, departments for all the teachers, toilets, the photocopy room, many workshops...

The subjects that we are studying are: Spanish Literature, P.E., Math, Basque, English, Natural Sciences, plastics, Religion, Geography and Music. My favourite subjects are English, Basque, P.E. and Natural Sciences. We sometimes have an exam, but I don't get nervous at it. Some exams are too difficult! The School starts at 8:30 and finishes at 14:30, but we have a little break of 30 minutes to eat our sandwiches. We like a lot the break! We started the school at 12 and we are going to finish it when we are 16, and then we will go to Bachillerato building, but that is another story!

This year we've got eleven subjects: Geography, Physical education, Physics, Biology, Music, Art, Spanish language, Basque language, English, Maths and Religion. The teachers are very strict with their students but this is good because the students learn a lot.

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 Other Institutes are maybe better than this, but I like it.

My School Hello, I’m going to tell you about my school.

Marina Pascual

Its name is Ibaialde. It’s a high school in Burlada. I’m from Burlada too, so always I go to school on foot.

My School I’m a student of the institute Ibaialde. Ibaialde is in Burlada, a small town near Pamplona, in the centre of Navarre and in the north of Spain.

Ibaialde is big: we have many classrooms, seven or eight teachers’ departments, one secretary room, rooms with computers, and one audio-visual class, gymnasiums, a big playground and several workshops for technology.

Ibaialde is a big school. There are approximately 1,000 students aged twelve to twenty. It’s a State School, with boys and girls in the same lessons. Most of the students are from Burlada and Villava, a village next to Burlada, but there are some who come from villages around and they come by bus.

Every day, we begin our classes at eight thirty, and we finish the classes at two thirty. In the middle of the morning, after three hours studying, we have a break. This time of relax is from a quarter after eleven, to quarter to twelve. In this time, we talk with our friends, and we eat a sandwich. Then, we continue the classes three hours more. We don’t wear a uniform, but we’re forced to wear clothes of sport the days of P.E.

Ibaialde has got two buildings, one for the pupils who are studying ESO, from 12 to 16 years and for another Vocational Studies, they are between 15 and 20 years. In the Vocational Studies there are people who study to be Cooks, Hairdressers, Estheticians,... and bachillerato.

In my institute we have two grades: ESO and Bachiller. Now, I’m in ESO because I’m 13. In Ibaialde, we’re a lot of students and a lot of teachers.

The Compulsory Education building has got three floors; on the first floor is the music room, bathrooms, offices, classes of 4th ESO, a small gym, some workshops and the cafeteria where teachers are during the break.

At Christmas we have the Christmas Festival, and we can dance, play flute…

On the second floor are all the teachers’ departments. Each subject has a department and all the teachers who belong to that department have a desk there. Also there are the rooms of 3 º ESO, the audiovisual room, computer room, some workshops, laboratories and bathrooms.

We have holidays in December, Easter, and summer. We have 10 subjects and my favourite is English. We have one teacher for each subject. There are many rules and these are some:

On the third floor are all the first and second ESO pupils.

- Punctually (this is the most important) - Don’t eat chewing-gum in class

The playground is very big and there we have got a football pitch and a basketball court. We also have got a gymnasium, sports hall and a pediment.

-Don’t wear cap, sunglasses… -You can’t use your mobile. There are many more, but in this moment, I don’t remember them -8-

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 The classes are more or less of 24 or 25 students. The students are very friendly and most are workers, but sometimes they get bored. Teachers sometimes are fun, but sometimes they are strict.

My School My school is a public one called Ibaialde that means "near the river" because is near the river arga.

We study, Math, English, Spanish Literatura, Geography, Basque, Religious, Physics, Natural Sciences, Physical Education and Ethics

Ibaialde is in Burlada, a little city near Pamplona, in the middle of Navarre in the north of Spain.

At Christmas we make every year a festival in the house of Culture in Burlada, also every year we have trips to different places.

My high school is big, the biggest in Burlada, I think, and for me is the best. I know that Ibaialde can be better, but I like it as it is now very much.

We have lessons from Monday to Friday. Our lessons are fifty five minutes long and we have a break of thirty minutes, between the third and the fourth lesson, from 11.15 to 11.45. In the playground we have a little shop for goodies for all students. We have six classes every day, we enter every day at 8,30 and we leave at 14,30.

We’re approximately 1,000 students and I´m in third course with a lot of girls and boys who are fourteen and fifteen years old. We have a lot of subjects, my subjects are: Spanish, Language, Phisics and Chemistry, Biology and Geology, P.E, Mathematics, Basque Language, Geography, English Language, Art, Music...

We started the course in September and will end in July.

My favourite one is English but I don’t like Maths because I think is boring.

We like Ibaialde a lot because there is a good relation between teachers and students.

In third course we have these subjects, but some people change Basque or AE for other subjects, and in first and second level they have less subjects, and in fourth level have more. Josune Ciriza

But I think the best of my high school are the people. The teachers are very nice, but sometimes they’re also strict. But normally they’re good with us. And the students are incredible, some are hardworking, some are lazy, some are good, some no, some are funny... But for me the best students are my friends, they’re sometimes the reason why I go to school. My favourite time is the break. It’s only 30 minutes but we’ve got time to have a sandwich ant talk a lot.

-9-

My School (Year 9) 2009-10 homework can go to the library to do it. We have got many subjects: Science, Maths, Biology, Spanish Language, English, Basque language, Music, P.E, Physics and Religion. In the institute there’re some rules that you must respect. If you don’t respect the rules, the teacher decides now to punish you by giving you something to do.

I have got lots of friends in Ibaialde, but they aren’t all in my classroom. There are three groups of third ESO and we are distributed depending on the subjects we choose. It would be great if we were in the same class because I really like it! But is impossible!! And the best, the best thing of my high school (after the school trips) is the Christmas festival. I love it!!! In the festival we dance, sing and play the flute and some people are really very nice!

Every year, the institute organizes a festival. The festival is at Christmas. The people dance, sing, play the flute… and finally there are winners. There are very professional dancers at Ibaialde I think.

Well, that’s all I really care about my institute, but there are a lot of more interesting things!!

I think that the most difficult level is 3rd ESO. Now I’m in 3rd ESO, so I’ll work and study a lot. Normally you must do the homework and study all of days, at least two hours.

Iratí Segura

My School

The best teacher I’ve got is Juantxo Pagola. He’s very funny and a good English teacher. But he went to other high school.

Hello!! I’m going to tell you about Ibaialde, my school.

I think Ibaialde is an exemplar high school. The teachers demand so much and it is good for students.

Ibaialde is a high school in Burlada, near Villava. All the people don’t come here on foot, some people come here by bus or by car.

OK!, Don’t you think six hours sitting in the chairs is too much? I think so. Finally the last piece of information. We started classes on the 15th of September, and we’ll finish the 22nd of June. I hope you like my writing!! Rubén Recalde

Villava is near Burlada, so the people from Villava, like me, come here on foot. In my opinion Ibaialde is too big. We have got some much space. In Ibaialde there are three floors. The first is for the teachers, custodians and for 4th Level of E.S.O. The second floor is for teachers and 3rd Level of E.S.O. And the third is for 1st and 2nd Level E.S.O. There are a lot of classes for different things. Laboratories, an audiovisual room, a gym, computer rooms, departments… We have six lessons everyday. We start classes at 8:30 and in the middle of the morning we have a break of 30 minutes. We finish the classes at 14:30. In the break, the people the people who haven’t done - 10 -
