Holy Week and Easter at Christ Church

Episcopal Church Women ECW Event to be Held at Christ Church – Volunteers Needed On Tuesday, May 2, Christ Church ECW is hosting a dinner in the Parish House after the Board meeting for the officers of the Diocese ECW. We are looking for some volunteers to help set up the Parish House in the morning. This entails setting 25 places and making certain that we have all the dishes we need for the event. Also, we need 2 or 3 people to help serve beginning at 5:00pm ending about 7:00pm. Our final need is for a clean-up crew beginning about 7:00 pm. This is a wonderful way for us to practice radical hospitality as we meet and greet fellow members of ECW from around the diocese. Please call Ann Bustard, 252-636-2885, if you can help during any of these times. On Wednesday, May 3, Christ Church will host the Annual Spring ECW Meeting. Bishop Skirving will serve as celebrant at the Eucharist. After the service, we will move to the Harrison Center for our catered luncheon. Our own Terry Brubaker will speak to the assembled group about Camp Hope, a camp for children who have a parent incarcerated in prison. This ministry is very near and dear to Terry's heart, so we will be blessed to hear about her hard work to make it possible for so many children to have the opportunity to attend summer camp at Camp Bob at Kanuga. Remember that all women of the church are invited to attend the General Meeting of the ECW. Call Judi at 633-2109 to reserve a place!

Christ Church ECW Spring Picnic Please join the St. Elizabeth and St. Frances Chapters of the Episcopal Church Women of Christ Church for our Spring Picnic on Tuesday, May 9, at 4pm in the Harrison Center. Dinner will include assorted beverages, fried chicken, side dishes and desserts. All women of Christ Church are invited to attend. Please call 633-2109 and make your reservation by Friday, May 5.

The Provocative Church Café Food for Thought: A Place to Gather and Share Mondays at 5:00pm in the Parish House Participants in the Following Jesus Movement Provocative Church Gatherings wanted to continue the conversations. Starting on Monday, April 24, from 5:00 – 6:00pm, there will an opportunity to gather weekly in the Parish House to listen and discuss where God may be calling us now. If you did not participate in the Provocative Church book study, you are very welcome to drop in and join the conversations. The purpose of these gatherings is to keep alive the Spirit-filled table conversations and to be open to where God is leading each one of us. Come and see! Participate in this amazing Jesus Movement! Foyers Food, fun, fellowship: that is what Foyers is all about. It is a wonderful opportunity to get to know your fellow parishioners beyond coffee hour. Groups of 6 – 8 get together once a month to share a meal either in a home, picnic or Dutch treat lunch/brunch in a restaurant. Stop by our table at the ministry Fair on May 7 to sign up. On May 21 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, we will have our “kick off” at the home of Martha Ross, where you will meet the others in your group and arrange your first get together. Bring an appetizer to share. Beverages will be provided. For more information contact Jane Broaddus, 252-7728156 or jbroaddus205@suddenlink.net. I hope many of you will participate in this very special ministry.

Compassionate Listening Ministry at RCS The number of God's children who need a smile and someone to listen and/or pray with them has increased over time. This is a powerful ministry the Holy Spirit directed our postulant, Linda Murdock, to begin. Now we need more volunteers to experience the joy one receives by giving at least one hour a month or more from10:3011:30, their lunch hour, listening, praying, smiling, being a welcoming presence in their lives. If you have this time available and an interest in this ministry, please contact Sheridan Holstein:
