Sunday School Resumes This Week After a week off of Sunday School for MumFest, we resume this week at 10:00am with Christian Formation opportunities for all ages. For Children: Our Pre-K children will meet for Godly Play on the first floor of the Sunday School wing. Our Kindergarten through Fifth graders continue with the Holy Moly curriculum. Kindergarten & First grade will also be on the first floor, across from the Nursery. The Second & Third graders and the Fourth & Fifth graders will be on the second floor. Look for the signs for each of the four classrooms. For Youth: Middle & High Schoolers will meet in the youth room (across from the church on Pollock St). For Adults: The Rev. Paul Canady and the Rev. Cortney Dale begin a new series called "Episcopal 201" in the Pelletier Room. This is both an introduction and a refresher for those wanting to know more about the Episcopal Church and Christ Church. Please contact Paul or Cortney for more information. Synthesis and Living the Good News continue in their current locations (Library and 2nd Floor Living Room, respectively). Both focus on the Scripture readings for that Sunday.

A Grief Support Seminar at Christ Church

Christ Church is alive with the possibility of sounds from hand bells

Barbara Bornemann, open to anyone who's grief might be troubling them this holiday season. Cost: No char ge, donations accepted to cover cost of lunch and materials. We are looking to restart the Hand Bell Choir at Christ Church. We are looking for those that would like to participate in this music ministry. Prior handbell ringing experience not necessary, but some ability to read music is needed. There are many bells and not enough hands to play. The main requirement is you have a love of music and be willing to attend practices. There will be a display of bells in the Parish House on Sunday October 29, 2017. You are invited to come see the bells and try your hand at playing one or just to get more information about the bell choir. There will be a sign-up sheet at that time. We are hoping there is enough interest to join the group. No practices have been scheduled at this time. If you would like more information please contact Kathleen Gormley at gormley1@suddenlink.net or by phone 634-1749. Looking forward to hearing from you!

(open beyond Christ Church parishioners- please share this event with friends and family.)

Now we ask, with an attitude of gratitude for the gifts God has given you, to prayerfully consider your annual pledge. After completing your pledge certificate, it may be mailed to Christ Church or you may drop it off at the reception desk with Suzanne. You may also pledge online at ChristChurchNewBern.com. This notice is going to many of the artists who have shown in our exhibits and might want to participate in the Guild. The group is not closed but open to those who share it mission. Please let me know if you are interested or know someone else at Christ Church who has a background in visual arts who might be. The next meeting will be Sunday, October 22 in the Library (or somewhere) at Church after the 11:00 service-12:30. We need to plan the next several exhibits for the Parish Hall and Harrison windows, and consider a request from Father Paul to create a mural for a wall in the Youth/Music building. If you have any suggestions for the Guild's consideration, please put them in writing and if possible email them to those listed above before we meet. If you have any questions, please call me and we can chat about them.

INFLUENTIAL WOMEN OF CHRIST CHURCH WOMEN

Farmworkers, Year Round Many of us are changing over our wardrobes, putting away summer clothes and taking out winter clothes at this time of year. Please look for clothes items you can donate to the farmworkers as you do so. Although less in number, in the fall, winter and spring, Farmworkers are here in North Carolina all yearround doing farm work. Planting starts as early as March, and harvesting ends as late as the following January. To help keep the farmworkers warm and dry during these cool and wet seasons, and projected from pesticides in the warmer weather, we are collecting the following items, used or new:  Bedding (sheets pillows, pillow cases & blankets)  Men’s jeans (waist sizes 30, 32, 33, 34)  Long sleeve shirts, any size  Hoodies  Athletic shoes  Men’s rain boots  Men’s (or medium to large women's) rain jackets  Winter jackets

The Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of North Carolina have an on-line history of influential and prominent women in the Episcopal Church of this state. Thanks to the efforts of several people here, several women of Christ Church are featured in this history. Visit http:// www.ecw-nc.org/by-word-and-example to see recent biographical sketches of Bettye Paramore and Dr. Lula Disosway. Elizabeth Gordan Griffin, Caroline Ann Widner Hughes, and the Rev. Dr. Pat Thomas have also been featured.

PASS THE PLATE COOKBOOKS Pick one up today in the Christ Church Reception area for $25. They make great Christmas Gifts!!!! 4
