Brick letter for church 5 25 17

Dear Fellow Christ Church parishioners, I am in the third and final year of my current vestry term. The first two years of this term I was the Jr. Warden, tasked with maintaining the buildings and grounds. Early on in my first year I noticed, with input from several other parishioners, that the brick work of the sanctuary and parish house is in need of maintenance. This was mentioned during my report at the annual meeting last November. I am pleased to report to you that at the May vestry meeting a contract with Peterson Construction Company, for just under $93,000, was approved to begin this work. Other than re-pointing of the brick, all exterior windows and other wood work of the sanctuary will be painted, new ladders will be installed in the bell tower, and all missing slate shingles will be replace. The vestry also approved using funds from the operating reserve account to pay for this work. The work will begin May 30 and is scheduled to take approximately two months. Last year this company did the work at First Baptist Church just across the street from us. I mention that other project because we will have similar equipment (135 foot long lift) on site in order to reach the higher areas of the bell tower and roof. At some point there is also going to be the covered wooden walkway near the front of the church. The company is going to do everything they can to minimize the time this equipment is onsite and the impact on the congregation. That said, we are going to ensure the job gets done correctly. If you have any questions or concerns about this project please feel free to contact me. Thank you for you patience as this project is completed over the summer. Sincerely, Jason Thuringer jasonthuringer@gmail.com
