TRUNKLINE President’s message: Saundra Waecker Hello ORWF, Recreating a community. When I was a little girl my grandparents lived in a small town in Missouri in the heart of the Ozark Mountains; a little town called Mountain Grove. Whenever I would visit my Grandparents, the little local newspaper would announce to the town that the beloved grandchild of the Paul family had come to visit. They would even include the menu for our supper ( called supper) that my Grandmother served to my cousins and me on the first Sunday that we were there, (after church of course). I did not realize as that child, that what that community offered would be gone forever in just one generation. No one can recreate that safe small world or change the culture back or bring back that innocence; but in our own way we can offer a sense of community. The world is full of problems, ORWF hopes to provide a solution to at least one of them. ORWF wants to be that community, the home where like-minded men and women can gather for heartfelt conversation and political education. Our goal is to be that friendly place where your voices are valued and your opinions are heard. I would like to welcome all of our new members and thank all of you who have renewed your membership for 2015. We exist because of you. We are only as good as our membership, you are our greatest asset! Whether you are a new member or have been with ORWF for years let me know how we could serve you better or offer something of special interest to you. If you are a new member please get a new members packet, it will give you an idea of who we are and what we are planning for the future. We have put together what I believe is a great speakers program for 2015 Wednesday, May 13th luncheon the author of several books on radical Islam and an ex US Diplomat James Horn is our featured speaker. His topic is the threat of radical Islam and the existing danger to our Homeland as a result. Wednesday, June 10, is our main fundraiser for the year. Please see the flyer in this newsletter. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! The June meeting will be at the VANC Bldg. in Oceanside and our MC will be the famous local radio talk show host Mark Larson. We will feature a fashion show and silent auction. A percentage of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to The Veterans Association of North County. Adopt a table and help ORWF make this a great success. We need 5 more people to “adopt a table.” Adopting means you provide everything from table cloth to centerpiece and if possible sell your 6 seats to your closest friends. Will you volunteer to work our booth at the Fair Sunday June 28th. We have the whole day. We have to fill 4, three hour shifts and we need volunteers. Call Pam Chambers The San Diego County Federation of Republican Women along with the San Diego County Republican Party sponsor a booth at the San Diego County Fair. It is a beautiful booth (pictured above) and what do we do? We register new Republican voters. Please join us and the extra benefit, we pay your way in, work 3 hours and then go enjoy the Fair. All the cinnamon rolls you can eat!
