First Confession/First Communion

The meeting for parents/guardians of students in grade 2 or older who plan to celebrate Reconciliation and Eucharist this school year, for the first time, is Wed. Sept. 26, 7:00 pm. All parents/guardians are expected to attend this important meeting at the school. Students baptized outside of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish must have a Roman Catholic baptismal certificate. The Enrolment Ceremony for candidates for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist will be at all weekend Masses, Sept. 29 / 30.

Life Chain

Sunday September 30, 2018 2:003:00p.m. -the Annual Life Chain will be held across Canada. In Kingston we will gather at the Newlands Pavilion (next to Murney Tower-King St.) at 1:45 p.m. After opening prayers we will walk to King St. across from Kingston General Hospital where more than 38,000 preborn babies have been deliberately killed by abortion. This is a prayerful, silent event remembering all the victims of abortion. Please come and bring friends and families for one hour of silent prayer and witness to the sanctity of human life. Autumn Tastings

Come and enjoy a great evening on October 20, with tastings of wine, Scotch and good food, as well as a silent auction. Bring your friends. Red Mass | Wed. September 26, 7 pm, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Archbishop O’Brien will preside. All judges, lawyers, and others who work in the justice system – and those who would like to pray for them and for justice – are invited to attend. A wine and cheese reception will follow at the Cathedral’s parish centre. It was with your generosity and good will that our formal sponsorship effort came to a successful close at the end of July. The committee’s gratitude and that of the Alzahabi family for all of your support, which came in so many ways, cannot be overstated. You are invited to attend a final general meeting on Monday, October 1 at 7pm in our parish hall. A final report will be presented by the co-ordinating committee as well as an opportunity to pose questions about this year-long initiative. All are welcome.

St. Patrick’s Railton Cemetery Mass is being held in memory of our

deceased family members on Sat., Sept. 29 at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Keeley Rd. Bring a lawn chair to the cemetery. Luncheon provided at Byrne Parish Centre following the Mass. Caring for Creation

Pope Francis invites us to reflect on our common home and care for it. The Franciscan community, on the feast of St. Francis, invites you to celebrate the feast and reflect on the Canticle of the Creatures composed by him. Join us on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 PM for this hour of prayer for creation, at St. John the Apostle Church, Patrick St. All are welcome.

Day of Reparation: We are the Church!

All of us are called to be part of the solution to the crisis facing the Church. Join us for a day of prayer and fasting on Fri. Oct. 5 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish. Mass at 8:30 am. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in Room C after Mass until 8:30 pm. Whether you can attend for 5 minutes or all day, take this opportunity to offer penance and to invoke the Lord’s mercy and healing. If you are unable to attend, choose some form of penance which you can practice in your home or place of work as you might do during the season of Lent.

Volunteer Information Survey Summary

Thirty surveys representing seventeen Ministries were completed and returned. Responses to the question regarding what participants enjoyed most about their work were very positive, stating that interactions with other parishioners and church involvement as most important. Volunteers believe that what they contribute is important because of the appreciation and gratitude shown by those who benefit from their service.
