Novena to Divine Mercy April 19 – April 28

On ordinary rosary beads: “First pray one ‘Our Father’, ‘Hail Mary’, and ‘I believe’. Then on the large beads pray the following words: ‘Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.’ On the smaller beads pray: ‘For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.’ In conclusion pray three times: ‘Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world’.

Holy Water

The ancient and venerable custom of taking Holy Easter water is encouraged and urged Please remove any Holy Water more than a year old by pouring it into a plant or preferably the earth (not into the sink drain), before Easter. You are invited to bring a small container to take the new Holy Easter water to your home for use in sickness, danger, temptation or sorrow.

Divine Mercy Sunday Reflections and Prayer in Songs Come join us in

celebrating this special feast day of God’s love and mercy with prayerful reflections on the diary of St. Faustina and singing of the beautiful Chaplet of Divine Mercy. All are welcome. April 8. 2:30-3:30pm.

Archdiocesan Celebration of the Chrism Mass and Thanksgiving for Archbishop’s O’Brien’s Ministry in the Archdiocese

You are cordially invited to join Archbishop O’Brien and the clergy of the Archdiocese to celebrate the Chrism Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. Gathering as the visible Body of Christ, we express our communion with the Archbishop. On this special occasion, we will bid farewell to Archbishop Brendan O’Brien, who will be retiring after serving for 12 years as the Archbishop of Kingston. After the Mass, join us for a Reception in his honour at École Cathédrale. There you will have an opportunity to say farewell and to express your gratitude for his dedicated service to the Archdiocese of Kingston. As in previous years at the Chrism Mass, the priests and deacons will renew their ordination promises, and the oils used for the Sacramental life of the Church will be blessed and distributed to each Parish and Institution.

Volunteers Needed for Holy Thursday

3 volunteers are invited to have their feet washed at the Holy Thursday evening Mass, 7:00 p.m. Please see the list on the table at the entrance of the church and respond before March 30.

Sacraments Liturgical Assignments are posted on the bulletin boards and on the parish website Holy Communion to those in the Parish who are not well enough to come to Sunday Mass, please contact Sandra Belanger: 613-384-1489. Sacrament of Penance Saturday, 4:30-5:00 p.m., daily before Mass, and by appointment Sacrament of Baptism: by appointment Sacrament of Marriage: Arrange 6 months in advance. Pre-marriage course required Sacrament of the sick: as needed. Call the parish office.


Lenten Confessions

St. Mary’s Cathedral: 1/2 hour before every Mass, 1 to 7 pm on Wednesdays and 4 to 5 pm on Saturdays. Our Lady of Lourdes Parish one half hour before Masses Tuesday - Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. throughout the year. During Lent additional times for Confessions are: 1) Palm Sunday, Apr. 14, after 11:00 a.m. Mass 2) Wednesday, Apr. 17, after 9:30 a.m. Mass

Campaign Life Coalition

Kingston meeting on Tuesday April 25, from 7:00 until 9:00p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, main meeting room downstairs, 1111 Taylor-Kidd Blvd. Mr. Jim Hughes, President Emeritus of CLC and Vice-President of International Right to Life will be the guest speaker and will be able to update us on the many the pro-life/ pro-family issues facing our country and internationally. Dear Evan Hansen Musical

On Wed. June 12, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish will sponsor a bus trip to Toronto to see the Musical Dear Evan Hansen, the Broadway Hit that has clutched the hearts of thousands with its story and beautiful soundtrack. Tickets are $215./person and includes the return trip to Toronto, dinner, an orchestra theatre seat and a $40. tax receipt. Spirituality of Listening and Presence

Archdiocese of Kingston Religious Education Office Workshop on the Spirituality of Listening & Presence St. Paul the Apostle Church Hall Saturday, 25th May 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Open to anyone who would like to learn more about listening and presence, especially those in Pastoral Ministry and Prison Ministry, as it is revealed in pivotal moments of caring relationships. Hymn Festival

The Royal Canadian College of Organists Kingston Centre presents a Hymn Festival on Saturday 4 May at 2:30pm at St. George’s Cathedral. A selection of traditional and new hymns will be introduced by Eric Friesen and the Rev. Andrew Johnston, and accompanied by members of the RCCO, a massed choir, and a brass quintet.
