1. A New Map of North America from the Latest Discoveries. Published in The London Magazine. Copperplate engraving, February, 1763. This map shows the colonial possessions in North America at the close of the French and Indian War. Noted are early settlements, forts, Indian villages and tribal territory. Various treaty and charter boundaries are shown. In North Carolina, “Earl Granville's Property” stretches from the Atlantic west to beyond the Mississippi River. Cartographically, this map is largely based on Dr. John Mitchell’s large-scale map of 1755. Image size 10 7/8 x 14 7/8". Good condition. Hand-colored. Jolly, P.
