OLDHAM COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MINUTES 6:30 pm, November 13, 2014 Main Library, 308 Yager Avenue, LaGrange, KY 40031 Call to Order The November meeting of the Oldham County Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:30 pm, Thursday, November 13, 2014, by President Sallie Haynes at the Main Library of the Oldham County Public Library system. Trustees present were Sallie Haynes, Anne Murner, Fred Tolsdorf, and Lonnie Hardin. Also present was Library Director Susan Eubank. Assistant Library Director Mary Mielczarek acted as recorder. Invitation for Public Comment: No public was in attendance. Consent Agenda Approval of Minutes from meeting of October 9, 2014, and the Financial Reports for October, 2014, were tabled until next month due to the absence of a quorum who had attended the meeting in October. Old Business Director Susan Eubank handed out individual copies of the audit for 2013-2014. Director Susan Eubank presented information on property that is available in the North Oldham area. She will notify the Board members and Architect Ehmet Hayes when the property can be viewed. New Business The Director presented a draft of a policy based on an opinion of the Attorney General (OAG 14-005) of the Commonwealth of Kentucky regarding trustees serving on more than one board with taxing authority. Ms. Haynes will review the policy for vote at the next meeting. At 7:00 pm the Board went into executive session after President Haynes made a motion under KRS 61.810(1)(f) to discuss a personnel matter. The motion was seconded by Fred Tolsdorf and approved. At 7:10 pm the Board came out of executive session. No action was taken. Director’s Report Director Susan Eubank announced that the Branch Manager for the Mahan Branch Library in Goshen had submitted her retirement for November 30, 2014. Rhonda Burks has served as the Librarian there since 2007. The Kentucky Court of Appeals will be hearing oral arguments on the Campbell and Kenton County tax issue on December 15, 2014. The Library has received its first property tax revenue for 2015. The amount received from the Sheriff’s office is $1,747,500.00. Eubank reported that recent programs presented by the Library have been very well received. The Comic Con, OC3, on Saturday, November 8th was a huge success with an attendance of 3,174 people. Attendance was small for the local Meet & Greet Open House at the Main Library on Wednesday, October 15th and the Overdrive Digital Bookmobile at the Main Library received over 100 visitors even though the weather that day was abysmal. The Oldham County Community Foundation awarded the Library $1,000.00 in grant funds for a program called “Little Turtle’s Totes” and the “Reading Railroad” Outreach program will take 2
place from Friday, November 14th to Friday, November 20th. During this week, all donations, fines and fees received from patrons will be used to purchase new books for the Tri-County Community Action Center to put into Christmas boxes for needy families. Report from KDLA Ms. Davis was not at the meeting but sent a monthly report to the trustees. Communications There were no communications. Adjourn A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Anne Murner and seconded by Fred Tolsdorf. The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm.
