In the spotlight: Get to know Evan Zach, VP of Partner Services

Can you share your professional journey and how it has prepared you for your role at Nuvei?

My professional journey spans over a decade, with a significant focus on Client and Partner Services and Success. I began my career at Deluxe Corporation, where I gained invaluable leadership experience navigating complex, matrixed teams.

Subsequently, I contributed my expertise to both Till Payments and a start-up software company, further honing my skills in steering service organizations amidst geographical dispersion. Throughout my journey, driving employee engagement and achieving outstanding business performance have been consistent priorities.

With a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Northern Iowa and a law degree from Hamline University School of Law, I bring a diverse skill set and a proven track record to my role as a Partner Relationship Manager at Nuvei.

What attracted you to join Nuvei, and how do you envision contributing to the company’s success in your role?

Nuvei’s position as a people focused organization attracted me to the company. I value human connections and serving people, whether employees or customers/partners.

What excites you the most about your new role at Nuvei?

In my new role I have the opportunity to add to an already fantastic team. Nuvei has been acquisitive and now the opportunity is to harmonize all of those acquisitions to add more value to our partners.

What key factors do you think contribute to successful partnerships, and how will you prioritize them in your role?

Making human connections and building trust are the foundation upon which to build. From there, truly understanding our partners business, their priorities and focus areas allows us to align to support them and be an extension of their team.

Throughout your career, have there been any mentors or influencers who played a significant role in shaping your professional development? What valuable lessons have you taken from them?

Aside from my focus on people and building trust one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from previous leaders is that companies have three imperatives: people, business and finance. This puts people at the center to allow them to focus on doing great work for customers. In turn, this will have a positive outcome for the companies finances.

What do you see as the biggest challenges and opportunities in managing partner relationships in the current business landscape, and how do you plan to navigate them?

In payments, especially integrated payments, things change very quickly. Our partnerships are incredibly dynamic and require us to be industry experts and maintain strong relationships with our partners to ensure we providing the best service we can for them and their customers. As a way to help manage this challenge, we must fully understand our partners’ business model and strategic priorities and maintain regular strategic touch-points to keep abreast of their market and business. Establishing clear outcomes (KPIs) for us to monitor and measure together helps keep us aligned.

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

To wrap things up, could you tell us a bit about your life outside of the office, both physically and virtually, and how you maintain a healthy work-life balance?

Outside of the office, I reside in Edina, Minnesota with my wife, Sarah, and our two children, Liam (8) and Holly (6). In my spare time, I cherish quality moments with my family, especially through activities like coaching Liam and Holly’s sports teams in hockey and baseball/softball. I also prioritize maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, focusing on nurturing my mind, body, and spirit.
