Has anyone seen a really old cup? No, seriously, the PTA is looking for it. “We’re not really sure exactly what it was awarded for or who has it these days, but if we can find it, we think it would be great to repurpose it,� said Rockfish River Elementary School PTA President Richard Averitt. “To give it a new life for the students of the [Nelson County] Schools. The students of both elementary schools, plus the middle and high schools are working together with their PTAs to promote active and healthy lifestyles while raising money for the PTA and Rockfish River Elementary playground campaign. Instead of doing the usual fund raisers, they decided to host an organized race – the first of its kind – in the county.
“It’s not just for students and families,â€? said Richard. “It’s for the whole community.â€? He knows, though, that it would be unfair to ask the younger kids to compete against the older kids, so in order to be named winner of the Nelson County Cup, a school must have the most participation. Whoever wins gets the cup and the chance to host the race next year. Only it turns out there really is a Nelson County Cup‌. Have you seen it? NCL Want To to run? Who: Anyone!
