Camps hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Free Before and After Care starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. ($5 fee charged for every 15 minutes after 5:30 p.m. or portion thereof).

Please do not send valuables (jewelry, video games, iPods, cameras, cell phones, etc.. MRU Kids and Mount Royal University are not responsible for lost; stolen or damaged personal belongings.

Open Houses and Showcases are held at the end of each program. Invitations will be sent home with campers regarding the date and the time

CANCELLATION POLICY: If your course is cancelled, you may either transfer to another course or receive a refund. WITHDRAWAL POLICY: To be eligible for a refund, written withdrawal from a course/seminar must be received no later than four working days before the start date (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays). Written withdrawal received less than four days is not eligible for a refund. CATS New Themed Curriculum Every Week! Let your imagination run wild as you create colourful collages, papier mâché creations and much more in the art studio. Develop original skits, plays and puppet shows based on the week’s themes. Experience creative computer crafts. Make multi-coloured slime, build edible volcanoes and experiment with science.

Academie Artiste Follow in the footsteps of the art masters in our Academie Artiste Camp. In three studio classes – drawing, painting and sculpture – learn the six major elements essential for creating your own masterpiece. In art history, learn about the movers and shakers of the art world. Finish the program by showcasing your art pieces in the Academie Artiste art show.

Canadian natural Junior Innovators Develop creative ways to solve community-based problems using technology innovation and entrepreneurship skills. Design and create a machine that can roll a ball through at least six items in the Invention Area. Crack codes and learn creative ways to solve problems in Decipher Club. Invent new animals or aliens to survive in specific conditions in Creation Zone. Help solve a community-based problem using creative solutions and technology, blog about your progress in Community-Me. Present your projects in an end-of-camp showcase.

Junior Leaders Learn about responsible decision-making, goal setting and peer mentoring. Explore the topics of bullying and peer pressure through a variety of fun skill-building activities such as Survivor group challenges, interactive problem solving, and team trust-building exercises. Participate in a group-directed art project to encourage leadership in the community. Projects will be presented in an end-of-camp showcase to parents and MRU community members.

Tech Academy Tech Academy A Build a Lego robot and develop a video game using backgrounds, animated graphics, music and sound effects. Take photos and draft your own e-journal. Design your own website in one of our state-of-the-art computer labs.

Tech Academy B Build a Lego Mindstorms Robot. Learn how to display a sequence of images using different animation techniques. Develop a video game using backgrounds, animated graphics, music and sound effects. Explore the wonderful world of science as you create glowing jello, test rocks for their calcium content, perform a dissection, find out how much vitamin C, iron and sugar there is in your favorite cereal, and build volcanoes.

Reel-2-Reel Film School Work as part of a film crew to plan, shoot and edit footage as you create your very own mini motion picture. Learn the elements of filmmaking, including storyboards, scripting, editing, auditioning, casting and screening, as well as the do’s and don’ts of directing.

Multi-Sport Ages 5-9 NOW OPEN IN CALGARY our brand new building is a patriotic showcase for Canada’s greatest sport moments and a place of honour for Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s 520 inducted sport legends and the 60 sports they represent. Sign up for a camp and access behind-the-scenes artefacts, tour all 12 galleries and try out our hands-on interactives, from simulated ski jumping to wheelchair racing against Chantal Petitclerc’s world record. Visit us and experience Canada’s preserved sport history, celebrate the contribution of sport to our community, and be inspired by our nation’s sport heroes to dream big!

Refine your batting, catching and throwing techniques on the T-ball/softball diamond. Climb your way to the top of Mount Royal University’s rock climbing wall. Get out on the soccer field and practise ball handling, shooting and passing. Learn to serve, rally and develop your forehand and backhand on the tennis court.

Golf Ages 9-14 Spend most of each day on Calgary driving ranges and courses practising the swing, grip, driving, chipping and putting skills you’ve learned in group lessons. Don’t forget the rules of the game, safety, etiquette and golf trivia. Instruction is provided by Canadian Professional Golfing Association (CPGA) professional instructors.

Outdoor Adventures Ages 9-14 Put your safety and survival skills to the test while hiking in Kananaskis and Fish Creek Park. Experience the waters of Glenmore reservoir by canoe, kayak or dragon boat, and get some valuable paddling tips from certified instructors at the Calgary Canoe Club. Tackle hills, bumps, dirt and puddles on your mountain bike day trips. *For your child to participate in this program they must have an intermediate skill level on a bicycle. If you are unsure of your child’s biking level, please contact our office at 403.440.6001 and we would be happy to administer a short test to determine your child’s skill level. Sports Highlights Ages 9-14 Hone your dribbling, passing and shooting skills in soccer and go for the goal on tournament day. Gear up for some moderate to challenging mountain bike rides around the city using on- and off-road trails. Climb farther than you’ve climbed before on Mount Royal University’s state-of-the-art climbing wall. Develop a better volley and serve as you learn game strategy on our tennis courts. *For your child to participate in this program they must have an intermediate skill level on a bicycle. ConocoPhillips Youth Science Academy All ConocoPhillips Youth Science Academy participants receive a $100 scholarship towards the cost of the program. Gain exposure to post-secondary topics in astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology and engineering. Expand your knowledge of these subjects in a creative, exploratory environment. Projects may include designing a roller coaster, building a bridge, combusting gummy bears and extracting caffeine from tea.

Lunch programs must be ordered 3 business days prior to the program start date. Campers registered in a two-week program may register in the two-week program, but will not be able to join the lunch program in the second week of the program if they did not register for the first week.
