Children affected by the war need our help. This story is from Kosovo. 戦争により無抵抗に傷ついてしまう子どもに救いの手を。 コソボから。

or generations, wars had brought tragedy to innocent children. It was not exception in Kosovo while there was war among the ethnic groups in Yugoslavia. On March 25, 1998, villages in central region of Kosovo were destroyed by Serbian soldiers. House of Musliu family in Bloja village was destroyed by bombing. Besjana (1 year and 9 month old) was sleeping in her room on the second floor while the house was caught in fire. Her father saw the house on fire as it was bombed and he jumped into the house to save the baby girl, though she was seriously burned from her head to face. All of her head and face had scars and lost most of hair and ear on her right. Her parents did all their best to find hospital and plastic surgeon in Kosovo to recover her tissues or reconstruct the scars, however it was impossible then. There were some Japanese people who were in Kosovo then who initiated to support her to have surgery in Japan for reconstructing the scared tissues. “There must be something that we can do to help this unfortunate little girl so that she does not have to carry on the huge wound in her heart all her life which was caused by seriously burned head and face.” Mr. Takeshi Inoue, one of the administrators of the City, Skendrai at the time initiated to form a group called “ Helping Besjana”among Japanese people who were involved in International relief work in Kosovo. The staff of ADRA Japan who were working as International NGO to build peace in Kosovo joined the group and coordinated with Tokyo staff of ADRA Japan, they arranged a Hospital and plastic surgeon team to support this effort. Then the series of plastic surgeries for reconstruction of Besjana’s head and face began in Japan in March 2000 and continued for 12 years, which consist of totally 6 long term stay in Japan. Besjana is now a beautiful young lady of 19 years old who is continuously pray for world peace. Story to be continued.

た。 ちょうど1998年の3月25日のことです。 コソボ中部の村々も、 セルビア軍 によって焼き尽くされました。 スケンデライ市 （アルバニア語：セルビア語で はセルビッツア市） ブロヤ村にあったムスリュウ家の家屋も、 砲撃を受け炎上 しました。 いつものように2階で寝 ていたベシアナちゃん （1996年6月26日 生まれ。 当時1歳9ヶ月） は、 燃え上がるベッドに横たわったまま泣いていまし た。 父親は火の海に飛び込み、 命 懸けで彼女を救出しましたが、 ベシアナち ゃんは大火傷を負いました。 彼女の頭部・顔面右にはケロイド状の火傷の痕 が広がり、 右頭部の毛髪を失い、 右耳も半 分以上形を失ってしまいました。 両親が手を尽くしましたが、 当時のコソボでは、 彼女の整形治療は不可能だ ということがわかりました。 この幼い少女の受けた傷を、 何とか日本で直してあげたいと考えた日本人 たちがいました。 「彼女のこれからの長い人生の中で、 わずか2歳にもならな い時に受けたこの火傷の傷痕を、 できる限り心の傷にしないよう、 何かでき ないか」 。 当時、 スケンドライ市の行政官をしていた井上健氏を中心にコソボ の支援活動に携わる日本人有志が、 このような気持ちでベシアナちゃんを 助ける会を設立しました。 国際NGOとしてコソボで平和構築活動していた ADRA Japanの職員もこれに協力して、 日本において受け入れてくれる病院 や形成外科医などの手配を行い、 そして2000年3月を第１回目として合計６ 回、 2011年までの12年間に来日して数多くの手術が行われました。 そして 今では見違えるような美しい、 世界の平和を願う１９歳の若者になっていま す。 次号では日本での手術、 治療の体験を書きます。

When the Tire Warning Light Comes On. Many people seem to ask “What exactly is the Tire Pressure Sensor?”. It’s a built-in meter in the panel found in front of the dashboard. Though rarely turned on, an illuminated warning light tells us that the sensors detect a decrease in air tire pressure. When such a situation occurs, it indicates that the cause maybe from a tire puncture or an abrasion to the tire recommending that we deal with the situation. 「Tire Pressure Sensorとは何だ？」 と言われる方も多いと思います。運転席にあるメーターパ ネル内に内蔵されており、普段は点灯しないのであまり目にしませんが、センサーが空気圧の減少 を感じ取ると警告灯が点灯します。空気圧が減るとパンクの原因になったり、 タイヤの磨耗が不均 一になったりしてしまいますので、早めに対処を取ることをお勧めいたします。
How Do You Increase The Life of a Tire? A tire’s life can be extended through regular casual day-to-day checking. First 1) Check the air tire pressure. Try and keep a reasonable amount of air pressure. 2) Moving the steering wheel while the car is parked can cause abrasion to the tire. 3) Tire rotation. All 4 tires will not equally have the same amount of wear. Depending on the driving manner and force, it will have different levels of wear. Snoring When you inhale, air comes through the throat in to the lung. When there’s an area where the air way is small, air resistance will be bigger and the soft tissue vibrates which makes a sound. This sound is the snore. Most people think that snoring is caused by the nose, but in most cases, the vibration of the soft tissue of the throat is making the snoring sound. Treatment differs in many cases. Some get better by changing their life style and some needs to get laser surgery to cut the vibrating soft tissue. Also if your tongue is connected to the back of the throat, the balance of gravitation and muscle strength makes the tongue go in that you cannot manage the airway which leads to snoring. n the east side of Hawaii island, depending on the level of volcanic activity, there is a Japanese-like hot spring. It is called Ahulanui Park located in the Kapaa area. However, while going there was the main attraction, we’d like to introduce a nearby area called Pahoa. In fact, Pahoa is a small town with many shops. Though there is nothing super particular of note, the interesting thing is that historically connected to and developed for reclaimed lands for sugar cane fields by immigrants of Japan.

<1> Poke chicken wings with fork and marinate them with 8 oz of TAKUMI sauce and sake. Marinate for 15 min. <2> Put chicken wings, 2 Tbsp of TAKUMI sauce and water in pot and simmer for about 25 min. stirring often. <3> When the chicken become golden colored, remove from heat and let them cool.
