we have so many examples accumulating.. of lost

energy.. from not disengaging

enough

ie: we’re pretty sure everything has to be measured/commoditized/bureaucratized.. we think things like: it’s not learning if there’s no proof it’s not success if there’s no profit it’s not legit if there’s no paperwork

so when we’re seeking to solve problems.. we assume things like: it’s not learning if there’s no proof validation.credentialing.badging. it’s not success if there’s no profit money.gdp.winning.competition.scarcity. it’s not legit if there’s no paperwork id.credit line.grade.contract.

we are obsessed/conditioned/intoxicated/blinded with/by

bureaucracy

to the point of thinking these things are not only a given.. but a necessity..

we

cling to them. we assume them. we wear them. we don’t question them. and so.. we perpetuate

not us ness

we’re so busy working on these ways to credential/prove/protect… we don’t even see the keeping us

from us.

http://zenhabits.net/cling/ I’ve found that the root cause of stress is clinging to things. We cling to the hope that things will go as we expected or planned, and then get stressed trying to make that happen, or frustrated when it doesn’t. So how can we stop clinging? By realizing that there’s nothing to cling to.

Nothing

to cling to.

The ego craves continuity; it wants today to feel like an extension of yesterday. Without that thread to cling to, the journey day to day would feel disconnected, or so the ego fears. You are clinging to an illusion of continuity.. give it up.. you will realize that you have been discontinuous all along, constantly changing constantly dipping into the ocean of possibilities to bring forth anything new. Yet life is actually unknown, as it has to be if you are ever to conceive of new thoughts, desires, and experiences. [..] The ego keeps itself intact by repeating what it already knows.
