Across the City What will happen if people start to move randomly across the city? This is a study of imposing new random pattern on downtown of Montreal, discovering and mapping out new perspectives of the city.

Conceptual Rhizome

This conceptual model of rhizome is made by string and nails. The study examines the possibilities of abstract connections between certain nodes. The model is applied to Downtown of Montreal as an abstract layer to the City. The aim is to explore new perspectives between city’s parts.

Based on radiant lines (pink) - 4 random routes (green) have been experimented by myself across the downtown of Montreal City

In this route, I concentrated on thresholds and wasted spaces between parking and houses entrances.

Doors elevations captured my interest while I am taking this random route. The good looking doors are installed on the main streets, while old looking doors even in very bad shape are installed on the secondary routes. This may prove the status of people who are living in these houses.

Graffiti works are quite famous in Montreal. I found some interesting samples while I am taking this route.

This route is very different, I found many dead ends and wasted spaces especially between bars and shops.
