In turn, she made learning come alive for those she taught, whether she was teaching young children or adults. She plans, consistently follows through on those plans, and assesses their outcomes. She is truly a professional educator!”

Jonathan Scharlemann served MLC as vice president for mission advancement from 2006 to 2013. Prior to his work at the college, he was a WELS Christian giving counselor and the director of mission advancement for The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA) of Belle Plaine MN. In January TLHA honored Jon with the 2013 Care of the Soul Leadership Award. Vice President for Administration Steve Thiesfeldt said, “Jon brought his upbeat, humble, and Christ-centered approach to the college when he became the first leader of our mission advancement effort in 2006. His love for the Savior and Martin Luther College has left an indelible mark on his service to the college.” Jon will retire in summer 2013 and then assume a part-time role at MLC with an emphasis on deferred gifts.
