SPEEDCUBER

UBING DARE: When did you started with cubing and why?

MAARTEN SMIT : I started cubing in February 2008. I had a keychain cube on my keys, and I felt annoyed by the fact that it was always scrambled... So I looked up a tutorial on internet and after about half an hour I knew how to solve it. At first it's hard to believe 足 you've been staring at the scrambled thing for so long that you don't even remember what it looks like when it's solved. Then (with great fear) I scrambled it again and set a stopwatch. The time was 6 minutes and 10 seconds.

CUBING DARE : How was your competition and what was your reactions.

first

MAARTEN SMIT: My first competition was Dutch Nationals 2008 (I think it was called Netherlands 2008 back then), and the most important thing I remember from that competition was being so amazed at the people who were solving blindfolded I wouldn't have guessed back then that I would get the NR in blindfolded later 8

Name: Maarten Smit AKA: Easter Bunny

MAARTEN SMIT: When I started bld足cubing I did. Remember when Ville Sepp辰nen was considered crazy? That's how long ago that was But nowadays the world top is swarmed with talents like Zane Carney, Daniel Sheppard, Marcell Endrey and others, so there is no way I'm going to get any world records in bld anymore...

Born: June 9th, 1995

CUBING DARE: How and why you started to play with Rubik's clock?

Favorite Number: 7

MAARTEN SMIT: You know, clock isn't really my favorite event, I actually think it's quite boring compared to other events. The reason I got so fast at it was just because it seemed so easy to get fast at it. I started with clock about 2 weeks before the Czech Open 2009, because that's when I bought it. At the
