Beginning in 1950, she attended the legendary Black Mountain College in Asheville, ville, North Carolina, where classes with Merce Cunningham, John Cage, and, perhaps most significantly, the mathematician Max Dehn, had a seminal influence on her work. With fellow students Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, and John Chamberlain, she thrived in the unique cross-disciplinary disciplinary curriculum at Black Mountain and brought this sense of exchange and collaboration when she moved to New York, working in dance and performance in renowned early pieces with Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, and Carolee Schnee Schneemann, mann, among many others. Rockburne’s work, with the use of materials such as cardboard, sheet metal, and crude oil, began to gain wide attention in New York in the 1960s; in 1971 she had her first solo exhibition at the famed Bykert Gallery. From this earl earlyy minimalist vocabulary, Rockburne has expanded the discourse to include investigations of, among other themes, the Golden Section, the solar system, and the writings of Pascal—all all seamlessly joined in an ongoing synthesis of rigorous intellect and ardent pursuit. This first career retrospective will be accompanied by a 160 160-page catalogue with 52 full-color color illustrations, published by the Museum and distributed by ARTBOOK | D.A.P. Essayists include the curator, Alicia Longwell, who will provide an overview of the artist’s profound engagement with the history of art. The catalogue will also include a selected chronology of life and work with artist’s statements. ROMANY KRAMORIS GALLERY GALLERY, 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11964 631.725.2499 Finding Art III, The Art of Jorge Silveira, June 9th through June 30th Silveira likes old objects, especially old wooden objects which he he's's inspired to mix with acrylic paint and pieces of found rusty metal into monsters and faces. He's also been using other found materials like burlap. "I really like expressing my creativity by finding discarded objects from the forest and the ocean, and tturning urning them into raw and abstract characters or scenes," says Silveira. Coming from Uruguay, a small country in South America, where everything gets repaired and reused such as old cars from the 1940's and refrigerators that get fixed 20 times before they' they're re replaced, it surprises him how much material he can pick up on the beach and in nature that has been thrown away by people. It makes him feel good that he can pick up these objects and give them another life. "This long winter forced me to stay in New YYork ork more than usual, and as I was looking for inspiration, some discarded objects I hadn't noticed before started appearing before me all around the city, sparkling objects no one else was paying attention to." "The new material that I've used in many of tthis his year's pieces: flattened empty soda cans that litter the streets, run over by traffic. Just as I was inspired in past years by objects thrown overboard or left to rust and recycled them into works of art, I did the same with these urban throwaways. Wit Withh these I created a whole new line of work, some of it based on the fashion industry that is such an important part of New York, and in other pieces using this man man-made made glittery material to make images of animals and nature." "Of course I'm still working a lot with the wooden and metal found objects the ocean tosses ashore during the winter, flotsam and jetsam that I find as I walk along the beaches of the South Fork on Long Island, so this year my pieces are inspired by a mix of the city and the beach, which is the lifestyle of my family andd so many other New Yorkers."

The Mill House Inn East Hampton NY - “Your Home ome in the Hamptons” GUILD HALL, 159 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 11937 631.324.0806 Clifford Ross On Exhibit, June 25th through June 31st Clifford Ross is an American visual artist who has worked in multiple mediums, including sculpture, painting, photography and video. His work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the J. Paul Getty Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Ross earned a B.A. in Art and Art History from Yale University in 1974 with a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1973. The exhibition is a survey of large-scale scale photographs from the Mountain and Hurricane series created by the internationally recognized photographer. The images of Colorado's Mount Sopris that he has created hearken back to the grand paintings by Frederick Church and Thomas Moran that reveal amazing details which you do not realize are there upon first viewing – an accomplishment that also realizes the ambitions of 19th century landscape photographers like Carleton Watkins. These works have a mesmerizing andd majestic quality, and the sequence, taken over the course of a day and a half, reminds us of the serial exploration of light and atmosphere by artists like Monet, in his well known series of Haystacks and the Rouen Cathedral. Of his experience on the East End, Ross writes in an article "I [had] been photographing waves for five or six years along the stretch of beach in Long Island, from Wainscott to Amagansett. In 1998, in a little under two hours, I photographed the waves generated by the proximity of Hurricane Bonnie to Georgica Beach in East Hampton. In water up to my waist, I managed to take 250 photographs of the unending metamorphosis in front of me. The sky went from white to black, and finally to a strange blue. The waves varied from about two to twelve feet in height, and the surf's aspect shifted back and forth from foam to liquid granite. It was a spectacular display, and I was an ecstatic, but soggy, photographic witness." ("Wave Music," BOMB Magazine, Fall 2003) "It is testimony to thee power of photography that one can contemplate one of Clifford Ross's Hurricane images and see a thundering wave stopped cold, spray and spume arrested in mid mid-flight, flight, its fluid power trumped without so much as a molecule deflected from its path... They eexploit xploit photography's capacity to immobilize what we know is unarrestibly mobile in reality. That is what gives them their baroque drama. The waves have that immobilized mobility of the whipped and fluttering garments Bernini carved for his angels..." – Arthur hur C. Danto, ("Hegel in the Hamptons," Wave Music, BlindSpot/Aperture, 2005) Bryan Hunt On Exhibit, June 25th through 31st Bryan Hunt is an American modernist sculptor whose work extends to various series and themes: Monuments/Wonders, Lakes/Quarries, Waterfalls, terfalls, Airships, Vertical Airships, Torsos/Cairns and Water Works. The Guild Hall exhibition focuses on the theme of “Water.” As many of the works are water water-inspired, inspired, they can range anywhere from Amphoras, Lakes/Quarries Natural Wonders – Waterfalls, as well as the Waterworks. Both large and small scale works will be included as well as accompanying drawings. Mr. Hunt works out of his New York and East Hampton studios.

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER CENTER, Levitas Center For The Arts, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton, NY 11968 631.287.4377 America The Beautiful Art Exhibit, June 7th through June 30th 30th, 12pm-4pm Daily The focus of the exhibition is the various aspects one might find in the theme. Eleven artists draw on their impressions through memory, observation, inspiration, and experience. Each presents a perspective – objective/subjective – of a moment or place of beauty. Priscilla Bowden draws on the East End landscape with small touches of human presence: a sch school ool bus; a flag; a children’s camp. Sneddon finds inspiration in the ritual and customs of Native Americans, with emphasis on dance and dress in J. Boucher-Sneddon abstractions in vivid color. Deborah Black emphasizes indigenous trees, such as the cedar, and folia foliage, ge, and places them in expressionist style, using various settings on the East End. Mary Daunt also uses the landscape as a point of departure, showing panoramic views of land and water painted in strokes similar to Pointilism. Alice Forman paints flowers which fill the picture plane, as though they are details of a much larger space. John Hardy celebrates the American city; in this instance, New York. Buildings surround small figures in one painting, while a billboard dominates the façade of a building see seen from below. Stephanie Reit takes the symbolic American barn and through line and color, transforms it into simplified form which interacts with land and sky in almost symbiotic existence. Clare Romano fills the canvas with bursting fireworks against a da darkened landscape. John Ross depicts the broad, flat land of the Southwestern mesa in rich red, orange and yellow paintings and collographs. Ty Stroudsburg will show paintings from her Vineyard series. The essential nature of vineyards on the North Fork of LI are painted in an impressionist style. Lewis Zacks looks to American cultural icons in signage, buildings, and motifs. His approach is photo photo-realism, with a focus on enlarged detail.

MUSIC AT THE TALKHOUSE The Stephen Talkhouse, 161 Main Street, Amagansett, NY 11930, 631.267.3117 Badfish, A Tribute to Sublime, 8pm, $35 The phenomenon known as Sublime, arguably the most energetic, original and uniquely eclectic band to emerge from any scene, anywhere, ended with the untimely death of lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Brad Nowell in May of 1996. But encompassing the sense of place and purpose long associated with Sublime’s music, Badfish, a Tribute to Sublime continues to channel the spirit of Sublime with a fury not felt for some time. What separates Badfish from other tribute bands is that they have replicated Sublime’sessence, developing a scene and dedicated following most commonly reserved for label-driven, mainstream acts. Badfish make their mark on the audience by playing with thespirit of Sublime. They perform not as Sublime would have, or did, but as Badfish does. Badfish has been one of the biggest club and theater acts in the Northeast and Midwest of the last couple years, and promoters are in awe that a tribute band could be turning several hundred fans away from the doors each night. Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds Birds, 10pm, $10 With a shot of whiskey, an over the shoulder gaze and a youthful smirk, Arleigh Kincheloe, lead vocalist for Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, saunters toward the stage knowing something you don’t know. Arleigh knows that tomorrow morning, with your tired legs and hoarse voice, you’ll still be talking about last night’s show. The Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds show that reignited your passion for live music. Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds blend old school gut gut-busting busting funk and soul with straight up rock and roll. Led by Arleigh Kincheloe’s strong vocals, the appropriately named Dirty Birds are a flock of eight men that create a sometimes sexy other times funky –but always tight--- powerhouse rhouse wall of sound where the harmonica plays a front and center role. Arleigh and her brother, Jackson Kincheloe (harmonica), were raised in the Catskills region of New York state by musical parents. Their mother was a country singer a la Patsy Cline and their father, a drummer, performed in rock and roll 31 North Main Street, East Hampton NY 11937 631 631-324-9766 innkeeper@millhouseinn.com innkeeper@millhouseinn.comwww.millhouseinn.com

Their home was a revolving door of family and friends, with the Kincheloe’s often hosting jam sessions into the wee hours of the night. Music, as they say, was in their blood. In late 2008, Arleighh and Jackson, now proud Brooklynites, performed their first gig together at the renowned Rockwood Music Hall in New York City’s Lower East Side. “After that show show-- and the great response we got from the crowd -- we decided to put our band together,” said Jackson. Intent on creating a big band with a funk and blues style, (“There is nothing like a big band,” says Arleigh. “It makes me feel at home, like I'm surrounded by greatness.”)the brother and sister team set out to recruit some of the best young musicians cians from coast to coast. Their California bred cousin Bram (drums), fit the bill “to really get the funk going,” says Jackson, because he grew up in a house alive with New Orleans music, in which drums and bass and horns are a vital component to the overall sound. The rest of the Dirty Birds – a mix of formally trained (Berkeley School of Music, Oberlin and Manhattan School of Music grads) and self-taught taught road warriors warriors—round round out the heavyweight band. “There’s something about these nine personalities that really work together,” said Arleigh. “The boys make it look and seem easy because they really believe in this.” The passion and dedication of this nine-piece piece outfit is evident in their electric stage presence and spot on sound. It’s the perfect mix of energy and skill-- and it’s all a collaborative effort. “Each one of The Birds will add his two cents until we're all amazed by what we've got,” says Arleigh. “It's really a beautiful thing.” It’s no surprise then, that less than two years after their first gig, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds will hit the stage at the 11thannual moe.down fest, playing along side notable acts like moe., The Black Keys, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Nas & Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley. This three-day event, known for its laid-back back vibe and great music, has a history of bringing a diverse collection of artists to the festival. Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds will now join tthe likes of The Flaming Lips, The Roots, The Wailers, Ani DiFranco, Amos Lee, The Avett Brothers an andd more who’ve crossed the moe.down stages.

The Mill House Inn East Hampton NY - “Your Home in the Hamptons” Born Clarence Greenwood, but known to friends and fans as simply “Cope,” the Brooklyn-based artist has crafted an album redolent of such classic tunesmiths as Randy Newman and Stevie Wonder – both major touchstones for his emotively penned songs. As such, it’s virtually impossible to put a finger on Citizen Cope’s idiosyncratically inimitable sound. “The only way to explain my music is to say you gotta listen to it,” Greenwood says. “I don’t think there is any easy description of it. Somebody once said something about ‘urban folk,’ which I wasn’t mad at.” “THE RAINWATER LP” comes nearly four years after Citizen Cope’s acclaimed 2006 third album, “EVERY WAKING MOMENT.” Not that Greenwood wasn’t busy – the hard-touring troubadour spent much of that time on the road, introducing fans new and old to his already substantial body of work. “It was longer than I’d expected between records,” he says, “but it was like a culmination of all the records getting into peoples’ psyche. I just kept on touring, doing songs from all three records, and then I started getting ideas for songs. I got inspired to make another album and put it out myself.” Since making his official debut, Cope had released three fine albums on three different labels, an experience which proved frustrating, to say the very least. Having been through the industry mill, this time Greenwood was determined to take the bull by the horns and release the album himself. “A lot of labels wanted to put it out,” he explains, “but I kept hearing things like ‘Retail’s gonna need you to do this’ or ‘The artwork has to be like this.’ I don’t want to be led into those confines anymore. I want to be able to do it my own way. Being able to operate efficiently, not having to move buildings to do anything, just seems so basic for any artistic endeavor.” Like the music therein, “THE RAINWATER LP” – as well as Citizen Cope’s new RainWater Recordings, Inc. – takes its name from a number of deeply personal sources. “It’s pure,” Greenwood says. “It’s also the name of someone that was close to me when I was growing up, so it just made sense.” Cope further points out that the “LP” in the album’s moniker is no accident. Including just 10 songs in the era of excessively long CDs was a very conscious artistic move, as well as a way of paying homage to the “jaw-dropping” 1970s works that continue to inspire him. “I wanted the record to have an LP feel,” he says. “Vinyl can only have a certain amount of songs. It takes you on a journey and then when it’s done, you can go, ‘Cool. Let me check that again.’” Memphis-born, DC-raised, and now Brooklyn-based, Greenwood’s musical journey began in the mid-1990s, when he first drew local acclaim for both his intimate songwriting and unique sonic fusion. His official debut album, “CITIZEN COPE,” was released in 2002, while “THE CLARENCE GREENWOOD RECORDINGS” followed two years later. The road to “THE RAINWATER LP” also included guest appearances on blockbuster albums by Santana and Dido, while Citizen Cope songs such as “Let The Drummer Kick” and “Bullet And A Target” have been featured in a wide array of films, television series, and advertisements. But Greenwood doesn’t like to compartmentalize his work, preferring to see each effort as but one aspect of his overall oeuvre. “A record should have the potential to be around for a while,” he says. “I don’t look at my records as representing just one year or whatever. It’s part of the lifespan of an artist and all the records contribute to the whole.” The latest stop on the Citizen Cope trail was recorded over the course of 2009 at both Brooklyn Recording in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (obviously) and The Document Room in Malibu, with extensive periods of touring in between sessions. Among the musicians accompanying Greenwood on “THE RAINWATER LP” are such studio stars as bassist Preston Crump (OutKast, Organized Noize, Raphael Saadiq), keyboardist James Poyser (The Roots, Jill Scott, John Legend), percussionist Bashiri Johnson (Whitney Houston, Donald Fagen, Madonna), and veteran Citizen Cope drummer Paul “Buggy” Edwards. “There are people I like to play on my albums that are difficult to get on the road,” he says. “What you try to do is make an album that sounds like a band, but that’s a lot harder than just putting a band in a room.” On songs such as “Keep Askin’” and “Jericho,” Citizen Cope and Co. create a hazy and elemental sound that melds such disparate inspirations as classic rock, jazz, hip-hop, and go-go, the interactive laidback funk sound pioneered by the 31 North Main Street, East Hampton NY 11937 631-324-9766 innkeeper@millhouseinn.comwww.millhouseinn.com

The Mill House Inn East Hampton NY - “Your Home ome in the Hamptons” great Chuck Brown in Greenwood’s home turf of Washington, DC. His lyrical tack is equally freewheeling, veering from the personal (“Healing Hands”) ”) to the political (“The Newspaper”) without ever sacrificing poignancy or power. “The songs are just representing me as a person,” Greenwood says. “Some people just want to write about love, other people just want to write about politics, but I think be being ing conscious gives you an understanding of all kinds of things.” A remarkably charismatic live performer, Citizen Cope has been a committed road warrior, introducing his music to the people by traveling America’s highways and byways, often performing in pplaces laces where other major artists fear to tread. “When you do the major cities, people come from all these other places and say, ‘Come to this town,’” Greenwood says. “So the next time you tour you think, ‘Okay, let’s try Tulsa, Oklahoma or Oxford, Mississi Mississippi ppi or Fayetteville, Arkansas.’ It’s been amazing, every year it just gets bigger and bigger.” Having taken his time readying “THE RAINWATER LP,” Greenwood is already plotting his next move, with plans including another Citizen Cope album or perhaps a sid side project with a like-minded minded artist whose identity remains a secret. As always, Citizen Cope follows his own individual inspiration, making music without concern for trends or fashion, believing the best way to assess his art is though the fans he meets al along the way. “Somebody once said I was the People’s Champion,” Greenwood says with no small pride. “I like that.” Rubix Kube, 10pm, $30 FLASHBACK: THE EIGHTIES---aa totally awesome time when people were "Workin' For the Weekend" and parachute pant-clad dudes des donned their "Sunglasses At Night." PARRISH ART MUSEUM, 25 JOBS LANE, SOUTHAMPTON, NY 11968 631-283-2118 Dorothea Rockburne: In My Mind’s Eye, June 19th through August 14th Born and raised in Montreal, Rockburne first studied at the city’s École des Beaux-Arts with Paris-trained painters PaulÉmile Borduas and Jean-Paul Riopelle. Beginning in 1950, she attended the legendary Black Mountain College in Asheville, North Carolina, where classes with Merce Cunningham, John Cage, and, perhaps most significantly, the mathematician Max Dehn, had a seminal influence on her work. With fellow students Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, and John Chamberlain, she thrived in the unique cross-disciplinary curriculum at Black Mountain and brought this sense of exchange and collaboration when she moved to New York, working in dance and performance in renowned early pieces with Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, and Carolee Schneemann, among many others. Rockburne’s work, with the use of materials such as cardboard, sheet metal, and crude oil, began to gain wide attention in New York in the 1960s; in 1971 she had her first solo exhibition at the famed Bykert Gallery. From this early minimalist vocabulary, Rockburne has expanded the discourse to include investigations of, among other themes, the Golden Section, the solar system, and the writings of Pascal—all seamlessly joined in an ongoing synthesis of rigorous intellect and ardent pursuit. 31 North Main Street, East Hampton NY 11937 631-324-9766 innkeeper@millhouseinn.comwww.millhouseinn.com

The Mill House Inn East Hampton NY - “Your Home in the Hamptons” This first career retrospective will be accompanied by a 160-page catalogue with 52 full-color illustrations, published by the Museum and distributed by ARTBOOK | D.A.P. Essayists include the curator, Alicia Longwell, who will provide an overview of the artist’s profound engagement with the history of art. Three additional contributors will investigate salient aspects of Rockburne’s career: Stéphane Aquin, Curator of Contemporary Art, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, will write about Rockburne’s early years in Montreal and the cultural and artistic climate that shaped her future development as an artist; art historian David Anfam will examine Rockburne’s work within the context of art world movements and strategies of the 1960s, 70s and 80s; and Robert Lawlor, author of Scared Geometry: Philosophy & Practice, will probe the artist’s lifelong engagement with ancient knowledge. The catalogue will also include a selected chronology of life and work with artist’s statements.

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER, Levitas Center For The Arts, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton, NY 11968 631.287.4377 America The Beautiful Art Exhibit, June 7th through July 10th, 12pm-4pm Daily The focus of the exhibition is the various aspects one might find in the theme. Eleven artists draw on their impressions through memory, observation, inspiration, and experience. Each presents a perspective – objective/subjective – of a moment or place of beauty. Priscilla Bowden draws on the East End landscape with small touches of human presence: a school bus; a flag; a children’s camp. J. Boucher-Sneddon finds inspiration in the ritual and customs of Native Americans, with emphasis on dance and dress in abstractions in vivid color. Deborah Black emphasizes indigenous trees, such as the cedar, and foliage, and places them in expressionist style, using various settings on the East End.

The Mill House Inn East Hampton NY - “Your Home in the Hamptons” Mary Daunt also uses the landscape as a point of departure, showing panoramic views of land and water painted in strokes similar to Pointilism. Alice Forman paints flowers, which fill the picture plane, as though they are details of a much larger space. John Hardy celebrates the American city; in this instance, New York. Buildings surround small figures in one painting, while a billboard dominates the façade of a building seen from below. Stephanie Reit takes the symbolic American barn and through line and color, transforms it into simplified form which interacts with land and sky in almost symbiotic existence. Clare Romano fills the canvas with bursting fireworks against a darkened landscape. His approach is photo-realism, with a focus on enlarged detail. VERED GALLERY OF CONTEMPORARY AND MODERN ART, 68 Park Place, East Hampton, NY 11937 631.324.3303 Art On The Edge 2011, July 7th through August 1st Art on the Edge is Vered Gallery’s annual showcase of the most talented artists working in New Contemporary Art. This special exhibition brings to the Hamptons the best in cutting edge painting, sculpture and photography by some of the most exciting artists working today. BAY STREET THEATRE, 1 Bay Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963 631.725.9500 Betty’s Summer Vacation, July 5th through July 31st, 8pm, $55A comic powerhouse of epic proportions is realized as events in Betty’s summerhouse share spin wildly out of control. Guitarist Eliot Fisk delivers some nimble fretwork, while Jed Distler is the sensitive pianist on the Cadman. Percussionist Rex Benincasa contributes snappy castanet-playing in 'Anda Jaleo!'" Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru, planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon. (Yes, the moon!) Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes. MUSIC AT THE TALKHOUSE The Stephen Talkhouse, 161 Main Street, Amagansett, NY 11930, 631.267.3117 Dave Wakeling and the English Beat, 8pm, $70 Dave Wakeling is a hell of a nice guy! Dave loves to tell you the stories behind his songs, either from stage or after the show. Ask any one of the thousands of fans who have met him over the years and that's what you'll hear. Never mind that Dave is the singer/songwriter from two of the most popular bands of the end of the millennium, The English Beat and General Public, he's a stand up man from Brum. Whether it's the personal as political in "How Can You Stand There", making politics personal in "Stand Down Margaret", taking a stand against global warming as he did with Greepeace's "Alternative NRG", or helping little kids stand up proudly with "Smile Train", Dave has always stood for something.

PARRISH ART MUSEUM, 25 JOBS LANE, SOUTHAMPTON, NY 11968 631-283-2118 Dorothea Rockburne: In My Mind’s Eye, June 19th through August 14th Born and raised in Montreal, Rockburne first studied at the city’s École des Beaux-Arts with Paris-trained painters PaulÉmile Borduas and Jean-Paul Riopelle. This first career retrospective will be accompanied by a 160-page catalogue with 52 full-color illustrations, published by the Museum and distributed by ARTBOOK | D.A.P. ! The seemingly peaceful facade of their existence is shattered with the arrival of longtime friends Harry and Edna who, suddenly overcome by a nameless terror, fled their home in search of a safe haven. The couple is followed by Agnes and Tobias' bitter, 36-year-old daughter Julia, who has returned to the family nest following the collapse of her fourth marriage. Their presence leads to a period of self-examination, during which all six are forced to explore their psyches and confront the demons hidden there.

The Mill House Inn East Hampton NY - “Your Home in the Hamptons” MUSIC AT THE TALKHOUSE The Stephen Talkhouse, 161 Main Street, Amagansett, NY! ""#$%&!'$"()'*($""*! Lez Zeppelin, 8pm, $60 Since forming in 2004, the New York City-based quartet has toured throughout the United States and Europe to become the first and foremost female rock act to pay homage to Led Zeppelin and to garner rave reviews across the board. Although, LEZ ZEPPELIN stays true to the musically audacious spirit of the original, delivering the legendary rock band’s blistering arrangements and monstrous sound note-for-note at what often are sold-out frenzied shows around the world, the four women that make for the four essentially diverse elements of the band bring their own unique energy and passion to the music. Indeed, this may be the thing that serves most to set them apart. But then, there is also the seamless and strangely appropriate way in which LEZ ZEPPELIN inject their gender-bending performance into material that is often thought of as an historically male expression. For those who believe this to be the case, all that can be said is: times have changed. Hot Lava, 10pm, $30 Hot Lava’s molten musical interpretations of The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Replacements, Ryan Adams, and others have scalded hordes of fans from NYC to Amagansett. Said Rolling Stone Magazine of Hot Lava in May 2004: “With scorching sounds and blistering beats, Hot Lava has created the next great paradigm shift in music…music DE-volution. They are taking us back to a primordial state…when pure, searing sounds shot up from the core, pierced the mantle, and burst through the cold, indifferent crust.
