We introduced the Contrast Cut finish to the custom bike industry in 2006 and it has become a hugely popular style. We helped to create a performance niche’ in the V-Twin industry that many have come to replicate and adapt as their own. It gets us stoked to see how many bikes are being created using our parts and the high performance spirit. We think of it as a big compliment and a tip of the hat to building high quality, high performance products that constantly push the design envelope. WHEEL TESTING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Each RSD wheel, pulley, and brake rotor is manufactured in the state-of-the-art Performance Machine facility in Southern California. PM has the reputation of producing the highest quality product on the market today – which makes RSD no different. Each RSD wheel is designed and engineered to exacting standards and thoroughly tested at the PM in-house facility – the only in-house testing facility like it in the U.S.A. RSD tests to strict world-wide standards such as JASO and TUV. Our wheels begin as aerospace quality, billet aluminum forgings that place the highest material strength in the same direction as the operating load, creating a light and strong wheel. From there, our talented staff of designers, including Roland himself, creates the array of styles you see on our bikes throughout this catalog using CAD design software. Each wheel design and size must pass all of our testing standards before it is delivered to your local Drag Specialties dealer for installation.
TORSIONAL LOAD TESTING
This test simulates starting and stopping, as well as the occasional burn out. Load sensitive rams cycle back and forth replicating real world style torture in an attempt to rip the hub out of the rim.
SIDE LOAD TESTING We’ve replicated the incredible stress a wheel is subjected to during cornering. You can trust your RSD wheels will withstand those canyon roads and track days because they’ve come out of our simulated side load test unscathed.
IMPACT TESTING
This massive testing unit simulates the pot holes and road hazards that a wheel is subjected to in the real world. We wrap each and every wheel size and design with a tire and replicate a hard edged hit; the wheel must retain air pressure for a specific time in order to pass.
RADIAL LOAD TESTING This giant machine simulates a load on a tire/wheel assembly while taking miles and miles of road with the occasional beating. The wheel is forced to endure countless rotations with one fl aw sending the design back to the drawing board.

BU-HELL It’s amazing how much effort it takes to get some machines on the road. When you pound every piece of sheet metal, hand machine every mount and form every chromoly tube, the time really starts to add up. We started with a motor on a frame table and ended with what you see here. 120 HP Buell revving to 7500RPM paired with nearly stock Buell geometry means serious fun in the corners as well as the straights. The bike features a host of experimental RSD products with the Turbo wheels and matching components, triple clamp set, headlight and foot controls, as well as full Ohlins suspension front and rear. Its taking all that we have learned through the years and improving upon it. We design each rotor from the ground up and analyze every detail’s function along the way. Our two-piece design allows the rotor to expand and contract when heated from the friction caused by the brake pad. The aerated portholes on the stainless steel outer band vent heat and dust away from the disc.

CAFÉ SPORTSTER Where others see trash we see treasure. We wanted a café sporty on the cheap so we set about fi nding a crashed bike we could build as budget minded as possible. We started with the bars or lack of them, by adding clip ons, removed all the junk on top of the triples, and prototyped a cool instrument cluster and headlight relocation piece that moves the headlight and gauges down. We also prototyped a key and coil relocation piece to get rid of all the plastic under the gas tank. We then threw on her all the RSD product we had, fi xed the tank, chopped the rear fender and painted her on the cheap. For under 10K we brought her back to life and she’s better then ever. OIL TUBE RETROFIT KIT
If you already own an RSD Venturi air cleaner and notice any oil dripping from the bottom of the fi lter element, this FREE kit cleans up the pesky problem. We have found that some engines make excessive crankcase pressure causing them to spew a bit more oil than others up through the breathers. We don’t ever like to see anybody with oil dripping onto their bike so we addressed this problem as soon as we noticed it. This retrofit kit consists of slotted-head breather bolts and injection molded rubber tubes that fit securely into the backing plate of your existing air cleaner. These parts help to route any oil, coming out of your breathers, right back into your engine without spilling a drop. OIL TUBES

BLACK BEAUTY The Black started life as a stock HD softail and after much chopping and cutting we have given life to a true Sport Chopper. In an effort to further push the functional element of custom choppers we have taken the best elements of the Softail and expanded it. We’ve used it’s rock solid drivetrain and unitary motor tranny combo and maintained the neck, lower cradle and shock mounts also keeping stock frame numbers and it’s registration as an HD. With a full road race fork, suspension, brakes, light wheels and a 120HP motor she is an absolute blast to ride. The result is a softail that wheelies, turns and looks the parts. Contrast Cut Wheels: Clean and Care of Black Anodized Finish: Chrome Accessories: Wash with mild soap and water, no detergents Wash with mild soap and water, use a healthy coat or harsh chemical cleaners that can destroy of Carnuba wax, apply often with a soft cloth. the black anodized finish. Make sure to completely protect the black anodized portion of the wheel, up to and including masking, to ensure that the black anodized surface is not damaged.
