Since the company was started in 1980, Mustang has employed true craftsmen who take pride in transforming raw materials to a finished product, all under one roof in their New England facility. Al Simmons is president and founder of Mustang. He began working in the motorcycle industry in 1971, selling motorcycle seats and accessories. He has traveled to every state and talked to thousands of riders. This, in addition to his own riding experience, as well as a degree in Mechanical Engineering, form the basis of his understanding of the essentials of seat design.

What Is Mustang’s Seat Warranty? All Mustang seats and accessories have a one-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Every seat is permanently labeled with a serial number, a one-year warranty and our toll free telephone number. Your warranty is automatically activated on date of purchase. If a product appears to be defective, call Mustang to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization form (RMA). All returns must be carefully packed to avoid shipping damage; you are responsible for return shipping charges. Mustang will, at their discretion, repair or replace the defective portion of the seat or accessory and return it to you freight paid. Incidental or consequential damages or labor charges arising from or in connection with installation or use of a Mustang product are not covered by this warranty.

DayTripper™ Mustang’s detailed stitch work and advanced comfort technology lets you ride low, look cool and still be comfortable. Never before has such a low and lean seat been available that feels this good for both the rider and passenger. Also available as a separate solo and rear seat. Vintage Style Studded Style Traditional style, modern comfort. All Studded seats feature a skirt with braided edge trim, chrome studs and leather tied conchos. Available in original or Wide Touring versions.

Custom Squareback™
Regal Style Soft pillow comfort with just enough folds and pleats to allow the cover full freedom to flex and conform. Tufted with covered buttons, the Regal style is offered in several seat versions.
A sharply contoured design with sewn-in center panels but no buttons or unnecessary stitch work to clutter the clean look.
Fastback™ Style Cobra Style This lean, low look provides a clean profile while maintaining comfort through molded, controlled density polyurethane foam. 4
Cut low to the ground with enough molded foam to be comfortable. The tapered rear section flows smoothly to the fender, yet has adequate padding for use as a passenger seat.

All covers are designed, cut and sewn at our New England facility.
Covers are made of the highest quality expanded vinyl available. They have the appearance of leather but the durability and resistance to the elements that exceed original equipment standards for motorcycle seats. All seams are sewn twice for strength. The bottom edge that holds the cover to the baseplate is hemmed where the rivets hold the cover to the baseplate. The edges of our seat skirts are finished with braid. Decorative studs are chrome-plated brass, not steel, and will never rust. Conchos are custom, heavy die-cast zinc (not a thin stamping) and are hand tied with genuine leather straps. Our fringe is vat dyed leather so that the color goes all the way through. Regal styles are tufted with covered buttons which are double tied with four cords, not two. Mustang seats do not lose their buttons. Finished Look
The chromed, knurled thumbscrew easily adjusts the tilt angle of the backrest forward or back up to 2” while you are seated. Thumbscrew is notched and will not fall out.
When backrest is not in use, the receptacle slot is covered by a leather flap held tightly with a Velcro® closure for a smooth, clean appearance.
Rain Covers Keep your bike’s seat protected and your own seat dry! Mustang’s water repellent rain covers fit over all Mustang seats and most stock and aftermarket seats. These black nylon covers go on/off quickly plus conveniently fold up into their own integrated storage pouch with a drawstring. Pouch easily fits in your saddlebag. HARDWARE Quarter Turn™ Thumb Screw Chrome one-piece steel seat screw is brightly chrome plated and features a wide, deep radiused slot that easily accepts a quarter or a flat bladed screwdriver so you can make sure your seat is secure. Pouch Tank Bibs offer a custom look with sensible convenience. The sewn-on pouches are approximately 7” long and taper from 5" wide at the top to 3.25" at the bottom. Pouches are lined with soft fabric and easily expand open to about 3.5" deep at the top. The flap is held tightly closed with Velcro®. Pouch Tank Bibs are made in New England and are available plain or with studs and a concho. SPORTSTER 2004-09 (pages 12-17) Baseplate Features 2004-09 Sportster seats have marine-grade fiberglass baseplates. Baseplates feature elastic polyurethane rubber bumpers to protect the motorcycle and soften vibrations.
One-Piece Baseplate The chrome rear tab on the back of the seat aligns with the threaded fender hole.
Two-Piece Baseplate
Solos are mounted with a single fender screw and engage at the nose. When mounting the rear seat, align spool washer on top of the solo bracket and bolt down to the fender with the supplied bolt. The front of the rear seat is slotted and engages into the spool washer. Align the rear-mounting tab to the fender and secure. See exploded view below.

Contoured wings inside the wide molded foam shapes are welded directly to the steel baseplate, effectively doubling the lateral support the seat can offer. One-Piece Baseplate Features Mustang one-piece FXR seats can be used on any model FXR. The formed steel baseplate has both a nose tongue as well as mounts for stock hinges and latches. A chrome rear tab secures to the fender with a stock screw. The advantage of the one-piece design is that the passenger seat on certain seat styles now extends forward to support the driver’s lower back without interfering with hinging. Once the rear screw is removed, either the whole seat can be unlatched and hinged up or, if using just the nose mount, simply lifted off. Rubber bumpers help isolate vibration and carpeted base protects the fender. See page 7 for hardware.

VRSCA & VRSCB V-Rod 2002-06 Sport Touring Two-Piece Seats Mustang’s Sport Touring seats offer riders and passengers the comfort of a touring seat with a sporty, stylish look. The 14” wide solo angles back to hold the driver into the pocket and keep him from sliding forward, with more than an inch of increased leg room. Passenger seats are available in 9” or 12” widths and are thicker than stock. Mustang recommends using the improved sissy bar pad for best fit. The 12” rear seat is supported by internal steel support wings to hold up the full width of the foam. Mustang solos and rear seats can not be mounted alone and will not fit with Harley solos and rear seats.
Baseplate Features Solos and rear seats are built on a black, gel coated, 3/16” thick marine-grade fiberglass baseplate. Solo comes complete with hinge and utilizes stock key latch mechanism. Rear seats mount like stock.

Baseplate Features Mustang Softail seats will NOT fit 1999-earlier FLSTS Heritage Springers. All seats are built on 16 gauge formed steel baseplates. A welded nose tab clips into the frame mount behind the gas tank. The baseplates have rubber supports at contact points and carpet to protect the fender. See page 7 for hardware. HD# 52467-00 2000-06 Seat Mounting Bracket (sold through dealers).
2000-06 One-Piece Baseplate All 2000-06 models require the stock rear mounting bracket be removed from the stock seat and bolted to the Mustang seat.

1984-99 One-Piece Baseplate The slotted chrome rear tab on the back of the seat aligns with the threaded fender hole.
1984-06 Two-Piece Baseplates Solos have two removable side brackets that align with the large threaded holes in all Softail frames. When the solo and rear seat are assembled, the side brackets on the solo can be removed and the seat mounted with just the single rear screw. All rear seats are 1984-99 Rear Seat Shown connected to the solo with two hidden screws.

The baseplate has been contoured in front to eliminate the hard spots the rider feels on long trips with the stock seat. Bags and lids feature a rubber seal to help make the bags ultra water resistant. The inside surface is lined with a durable felt-like material that is easy on the contents as well as the knuckles.
