Signify Design and Lighting Academy has hosted the 2nd edition of the Burlington Sessions, a CoCreate event aimed at bringing together lighting artists and designers who inspire us, push the limits and create a new language of lighting. Burlington sessions is a small group, by invitation only, of internationally recognized disruptors who are leading the way into the future of lighting. These CoCreate sessions are very hands-on, Signify shared some of
our solutions that are at an early stage of development, and our guests were able to experiment and explore, and to share their ideas about how these concepts could work for them and their customers.
Leni Schwendinger is an awardwinning authority on city lighting and a creator of illuminated environments. She shares this work through her public speaking and envisioning engagements, including NightSeeing™. She directs the International Nighttime Design Initiative, establishing an interdisciplinary profession. Leni is a Visiting Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and a Design Trust for Public Space Fellow (NYC).

Arlon Bayliss’s public artwork invites viewers from all backgrounds to explore dynamic forms that integrate colored light and reflections. By orchestrating controlled LEDs, dichroic glass elements, and sculptural steel structures, the work enlivens environments, engaging architectural space. Clint Baclawski is a contemporary artist whose work explores photography, technology, light and space. His exhibitions have spanned from California to Edinburgh, Scotland and his work is included in both private and corporate collections. Baclawski moves the medium into newly deconstructed ground beyond the tradition and constraints of a photographic frame. www.clintbaclawski.com
Sabrina Mandel has worked with dynamic LED facade projects since 2005 in five countries. She was involved in the specification, design, documentation and show-light contents of the first Color Kinetics projects in Latin America. She has learned about and is still surprised by light, its characteristics as reflections, contrasts, brightness, color and the glorious plasticity in the use of time in lighting design.

Yves Mayrand has more than 30 years experience as a designer, project manager, and creative director for thematic exhibitions and museum design and signage. He pushes the boundaries of conventional museum design, transforming the visitor experience with new interactive technology. Mayrand oversaw the Alaska Gallery at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center and the Canadian History Hall at the Canadian Museum of History. www.gsmproject.com

Kate Raudenbush is a sculpture artist experimenting with symbolic space and light. Her laser-cut allegorical steel sculptures comment on the perils and potential of our evolving humanity. Evolving from the creative vanguard of Burning Man, Kate’s art is exhibited internationally on massive stages from Amsterdam to the Smithsonian Museum. www.kateraudenbush.com
David Rose is the VP of Vision Technology at Warby Parker. Before Warby Parker, Rose was a five-time entrepreneur in artificial intelligence, healthcare, consumer electronics and toys. He was the CEO of computervision pioneer Ditto Labs and founder of wireless healthcare company Vitality. He founded Ambient Devices, which embeds internet information in objects such as lamps, mirrors and umbrellas. www.warbyparker.com
Tapio Rosenius is the CEO of Skandal Technologies, a new technology start-up developing ambient communication systems for the built environment. He is also the founder of Lighting Design Collective. Michael Stiller is an artist, designer, interactive technologist and teacher. His career has spanned the worlds of performance, architecture and entertainment. In the 1990s he embarked on a lighting design career focused on architecturally based experiential environments. In 1998 Stiller founded Michael Stiller Design, which merged with upLIGHT in 2015. He made his Broadway debut last spring, as production designer for the rock/classical mashup Rocktopia. www.uplightdesign.com
Jing Wei is art director and cofounder of WhyIxD. It is a cross-field art installation design team from Taiwan, breaking the barrier of a twodimensional world with new media and lighting installations, presenting a bodily experience to the audience.
