The Phoenix carried mostly people. It was $10.00 to go from Burlington to Whitehall. Meals were served. Originally it was used to transport cargo. When the Pheonix added passengers, luch furnishings were added and additional crew.
Some people thought the Phoenix sank by a burning candle that was left in the pantry.
Some people thought it a witch that cursed the boat before it left the dock.
Some people thought arson caused the Phoenix to sink. Someone may have placed the candle in the pantry during the night.
