« C’est sur les conseils d’un ami que nous avons fait le choix du chanvre pour notre maison de ville à Aix-en-Provence. Il y a une douzaine d’années, nous étions pionniers pour ce travail de titan. On mélangeait la chènevotte avec de la chaux dans une bétonnière et on banchait à la main. L’été nous vivons sans clim’, chose impossible sous nos climats ; nos invités sont unanimes : on se sent bien chez nous. » Josiane Guiragossian, GAGO (Aix-en-Provence) ‘ On the advice of a friend, we chose hemp for our house in Aix-en-Provence. Twelve years ago we were pioneers for this huge undertaking. We mixed the hemp chaff mixed with lime in a cement mixer and spread it by hand. Béton de chanvre projeté ——— Constitué de chènevotte de chanvre mélangée à de la chaux, ce béton est projeté par transport pneumatique. Particulièrement pratique à utiliser en construction, notamment pour des colombages, on l’applique également sur un mur existant en cas de rénovation. A partir de 25 cm d’épaisseur, l’isolation répartie est très performante, sans pont thermique et dotée d’une bonne inertie ; sa perméabilité à la vapeur d’eau lui permet d’assurer une très bonne gestion de l’hygrométrie sans VMC. Une fois le béton bien sec, on applique un enduit sable et chaux à l’intérieur, un enduit terre à l’extérieur.
Organisme indépendant créé en 1998, « Construire en Chanvre », a publié en 2007 les “Règles professionnelles d’exécution d’ouvrage en bétons de chanvre”. Sprayed hemp concrete ——— Made of hemp chaff mixed with lime, this concrete is sprayed pneumatically. Especially practical for construction, particularly for beams, it can also be used to renovate existing walls. Starting at a 25 cm thickness, the resulting insulation is extremely high-performing, has no thermal links and is inert. It is moisture permeable, meaning it can be hygrometric without controlled mechanical ventilation.
