Medina County Lifestyle | May 2018

If you share in the vision and goals of MCWEF, now is your unique opportunity to get involved. On June 14 at 6 p.m., at the local Blue Heron Event Center, MCWEF will host the inaugural Seasons of Giving event, which celebrates philanthropy in the community and recognizes the accomplishments of local nonprofit organizations serving women and children. The fund’s 2018 grants will be announced at this event.

The evening will feature a keynote exchange in Q&A style between Suzanne Allen, Ph.D., president and CEO of Philanthropy Ohio, and notable community philanthropist and volunteer Barbara Dzur. The event will also feature a unique and beautiful custom-designed home décor piece by talented Medina artist, Eric Schultz of Antiquation. The décor piece, a classic mix of metal and wood, will be on display for raffle at the June event. Raffle tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50, and the winner need not be present.

Since the fund’s establishment in 1998, it has awarded nearly $150,000 in grants. Striving to serve as a catalyst for needed projects and to assist women in their growth as philanthropists, the fund has grown to nearly $415,000. MCWEF founders recognized that the needs of women and children are different from that of the general population, such as in the areas of domestic violence, psychological health, and education. Now a permanent source of support for local women and children, the only thing missing from MCWEF is you.
