That’s the best thing you can do to feel beautiful,” proclaims Allee-Sutton Hethcoat, a 28-year-old former Miss Tennessee and Miss USA/current actress, model and lawyer who was born and raised in Williamson County. “It’s also important to take care of your spirit and overall mental health. When your mind is in order, everything else falls into place,” she adds. Allee-Sutton learned many life lessons about discipline, endurance and the value of self-care through her pageant experiences--all of which she continues to apply to her law and acting careers. She strongly believes in the value of education. She graduated from Belmont University as a member of Alpha Chi honor society, which limits membership to the top 10 percent of an institution’s junior, senior and graduate students. She majored in mass communications while doing on-camera hosting work. She went on to finish National School of Law, a part-time executive program, graduating in 2017. It’s imperative to note that on Oct. 8, 2016, Allee-Sutton also was crowned Miss Tennessee. She then competed for Miss USA 2017, which means during her last year of law school, she was preparing for Miss USA and still doing on-camera work, too, to fund her college tuition. She took the bar exam in February 2018 after studying 12 hours a day, then had to wait “an excruciating long time” until April that year to find out that she did pass. She’s since worked part-time with a law practice that does business litigation. Additionally Allie had a leading role in the film Remember the Goal (2016). She stars in the follow up film, The Perfect Race, now in theaters and directed by Dave Christiano at Five and Two Pictures. Allee is also on the CBS All Access TV Show called Tell Me a Story. She is the star of her own YouTube channel called Alleeways. Watch her as she travels, gives beauty tips and more. Her busy life doesn’t stop her from giving back, Allee is a board member of the Kindness for Kids Foundation. Allee’s hobbies include reading, baking, working out, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. No one wants to be bored especially during an activity of choice. Getting fit needs to be more than just physical, it needs to be mentally engaging to allow for the highest rate of success. Imagine climbing and scaling a wall that is over 30 feet high while trying to figure out hand and foot placement. It will engage you for the duration of your workout all while distracting you from the fact that you are exercising. Or you could be perfecting your posture, working on your arm engagement and coordinating fun dance steps instead of scrolling through your phone while painfully working out on the elliptical. Being mentally engaged will help ensure you not only enjoy what you are doing but it will make you want to go. Another benefit to getting fit is the strength you gain. Women often overlook this aspect of getting fit. Gaining strength is not limited to being able to pick up something heavy. An all-body exercise program like climbing, CrossFit or ballroom dancing will improve over-all strength. Imagine doing something fun and gaining a stronger core, back, shoulders without the boring floor or weight exercises. Along with the physical strength gained the ability to turn down behaviors that may sabotage your fitness plan are simply not good for you. Getting fit can be a task that doesn’t seem appealing unless you have a buddy. If you are a person that thrives on the group fitness activities, it is nice to know that your chosen fitness path has options for you to go solo or bring your entire book club and you’ll still be around a likeminded group of people.
